The Fenway Institute is the nation's leading center for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender research and evaluation, training and education and policy and advocacy. The Institute conducts a wide range of studies on such topics as HIV risk reduction and prevention, drug treatment trials efficacy, substance abuse recovery and hepatitis transmission. The following position is available at the Institute within Fenway Health:
Recruitment and Outreach Specialist [Job ID #633]
Note: Must be available to work nights and weekends
The Recruitment and Outreach Specialist will develop and implement marketing, communication and recruitment plans that reflect the Fenway Institute's research needs with an ultimate goal of community education, participant recruitment, interdepartmental collaboration and research promotion.
DUTIES
  • identifying and conducting outreach and education in community spaces where recruitment, research and services can effectively be promoted
  • establishing and maintaining positive relationships with community stakeholders
  • developing and implementing digital marketing and social media recruitment strategies that reflect institute research needs
  • collaborating interdepartmentally on community outreach and educational efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • assisting in navigation of participants through initial stages of research participation process, by conducting protocol specific prescreening activities
  • tracking and regularly presenting progress, process improvements and challenges in recruitment meetings
  • assisting in retention efforts for enrolled participants
  • supporting participants with navigation in the health care and social service system
  • working with clients and organizations to get them access to appropriate care/services.
This position will be the lead recruiter for a home-based HIV testing study targeting men who have sex with men and transgender women.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required
  • Previous recruitment, community education or outreach experience highly desired
  • Demonstrated cultural competency in relation to LGBTQ communities
  • Experience working with ethnically and racially diverse communities
  • Experience working with HIV/AIDS education and/or service organizations
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, and ability to meet deadlines within a team environment
  • Experience conducting presentations in a variety of contexts
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Experience working with an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse work staff preferred
  • Ability to work independently and with a team; a self-starter personality is required
  • Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals required

DESCRIPTION

The Women's Freedom Center is a feminist anti-domestic and sexual violence organization committed to social change through advocacy and grassroots activism. We are opening an office in Springfield, VT to provide services to Southern Windsor County which will include a 24-hour crisis line, support, advocacy and community education.

We are looking for experienced advocates who can sit with women during pelvic exams, assist with safety planning, provide outreach to youth, and advocate to police officers - sometimes all in the same day. You will be challenged and supported to act effectively on behalf of sexually assaulted and battered women because our unique work requires everyone's best thinking, empathy, and determination.

The positions are 30hrs/wk w/ benefits and some on-call responsibilities on nights and weekends. Transportation is required as there is travel involved.

DESCRIPTION

Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Reproductive Health Services Division, the Program Director will manage the overall family planning program such that expanding access to high quality reproductive health services is ensured. 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Hiring, supervision and evaluation of personnel;
  • Conducting Community Education and Outreach;
  • Establishing and building relationships and collaborations with the medical and social service community;
  • Budget management;
  • Managing patient encounter controls to maximize reimbursement collections and comply with third party insurance billing regulations;
  • Patient care as indicated;
  • Submission of required reports to agency administrative office;
  • Conducting public relations; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA and a minimum of 5 years experience in program management; 
  • strong organizational skills; 
  • flexibility and able to work successfully in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment; 
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills; 
  • demonstrated successful community collaborative outcomes; 
  • high level of cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations; 
  • demonstrated work in a collaborative, team environment; 
  • excellent verbal communication and writing skills. 
  • Must have a valid driver's license, registration and safe driving record.
