SUMMARY

Monitor choice-related policy issues at the federal and state levels. Perform policy analysis and research on choice-related proposals, draft a variety of advocacy materials, and contribute to significant policy publications. Under the supervision of the vice president, help represent and advance NARAL's policy views and goals to Congress, state affiliates, and other constituencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Within assigned issue areas (in some cases working solely; in others, working as a team with a junior or senior colleague):

• Track all relevant choice-related activity on Capitol Hill, in the executive branch, and in state legislatures. Report developments to key staff as appropriate. Perform policy analysis on state and federal legislation, and, as assigned, advocate NARAL Pro-Choice America's views.
• As directed, with issue teammates, craft and carry out legislative strategy.
• Represent NARAL's policy views on Capitol Hill. As assigned, lobby and brief congressional staff through in-person meetings, written communications, and phone calls. Work mark-ups, hearings, and votes.

• Assist state affiliates on key choice-related proposals with policy analysis and strategy recommendations.

• Write, edit, and update fact sheets, talking points, letters to policymakers, staff memos, model legislation, testimony, and other key policy and advocacy documents.
• Coordinate policy strategy and activities across NARAL as a whole to maximize benefits to the pro-choice movement and NARAL in particular.
• As assigned, represent NARAL to progressive partners and coalitions.
• Contribute to and help produce key publications, including Who Decides?, the annual voting record, fact sheets, and Policy Updates.
• Edit copy from other departments.
• Liaise with other departments or internal work groups as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Four-year college degree.

• Minimum three years professional experience, preferably in a related field, or relevant advanced degree may be substituted for some of the work experience.

• Policy and/or direct lobbying experience at the state and/or national level.

• Directly related experience in research and/or policy analysis.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and to juggle multiple tasks and timelines simultaneously.
• Knowledge of MS Word, Access, Excel, and other programs.

The digital director reports to the Campaigns Director and works closely with the Senior Vice President for Campaigns & Strategy and others on the organizations leadership team to expand the organization's online presence by engaging new supporters, developing the organization's social media strategy, raising money for NARAL Pro-Choice campaigns and ensuring that NARAL Pro-Choice America stays on the cutting edge of social media trends and technology.

SUMMARY 

The Digital Department is responsible for building and maintaining the organization's online community. The department also works closely with the Development, Communications, Affiliate and Political teams to ensure that our online program advances the organization's fundraising, growth, messaging and electoral priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Developing the strategy and managing the implementation of the organization's online activities including growth, fundraising and communications.
• Develop content and engagement strategy for the NARAL Pro-Choice America website, blog and social media outlets;
• Develop email program and campaign narrative to maximize revenue and online activism for NARAL Pro-Choice America
• Develop and execute long and short-term strategic plan and budgets for list retention and acquisition with goal to grow digital presence for both organizing and fundraising;
• Oversee online fundraising program, including email communications with members;
• Oversee development of online technology including website, content management and approval and proofing systems;
• Ensure that all online systems are working seamlessly and supporting the work of other departments;
• Develop strategy for and manage implementation of content production for NARAL Pro-Choice online properties including website, email, social media

• Work with the VP of Development and the Deputy Director for Membership to create and execute integrated digital fundraising plan with other membership funding streams;
• Create and maintain contribution pages for offline events and working with the Development Department to manage digital outreach for these events;

• Develop and monitor departmental budget;

QUALIFICATIONS

• Candidates for this position must be creative, innovative leaders with 7-10 years of digital experience that includes running robust online fundraising and acquisition programs and managing staff.

SUMMARY

The Deputy Field Director will work to increase the capacity and overall health of the network of NARAL Pro-Choice America. The primary goal will be the creation, implementation, and oversight of programmatic field work. The Deputy Director will provide ongoing and consistent communications, technical assistance, and support to state affiliates. The responsibilities of the Deputy Field Director shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Development of campaign field plans for electoral, legislative, and issue organizing.This will include but is not limited to voter contact, field budgets, work plans, and overall timelines.
• Provide direct technical support to members of the affiliate network. Will work with the National Field Director to assess, develop and increase the capacity of state affiliates to implement effective strategic campaigns individually and in cooperation with NARAL Pro-Choice America.
• As needed, travel to states to: Directly manage all aspects of Field Program, work with affiliates on coordinating and implementing a comprehensive campaign strategy, provide technical training to affiliates or otherwise facilitate strategic meetings, other travel as assigned.
• Assist the Field Director in designing, implementing, and evaluating a program of trainings and events to enhance the skills and relationships at the affiliate network level.
• The Deputy Field Director will be responsible for overseeing major national initiatives and ensuring their timely and successful completion. This will include forging strategic national alliances and leveraging relationships in affiliate and non-affiliate states to grow the reach and impact of NARAL Pro-Choice America.
• Assist in the development and oversight of the Affiliate Chapter Program.
• Assist Field Director with the department's strategic planning and budgeting process.
• Work closely with affiliate staff to identify ways to continue to improve communication and program integration between NARAL Pro-Choice America and its affiliates.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent;
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in electoral and/or legislative organizing with proven record of success;
• Experience managing state-based membership organization. Working knowledge of all aspects of grassroots campaigns including field, mail, lobbying and fundraising;
• Understanding of 501(c) 4,501(c) 3 and PAC distinctions;
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
• Relevant training and facilitation experience;
• Consistent ability to seek out new opportunity and handle multiple, high-level projects at once;
• Demonstrated excellence in writing and oral communications;

SUMMARY

NARAL specifically and the reproductive rights movement generally is facing an embarrassment of riches when it comes to campaign opportunities. From political races where reproductive rights are central, to state legislation where most restrictions and advancements are occurring, to the cultural conversation where feminism, family, and access to abortion and contraception are taking center stage, NARAL finds itself in the middle of a movement moment. In order to effectively leverage this moment in service of our mission, we are seeking a highly strategic, savvy communicator who can add capacity to lead a dynamic and expert team toward more campaign successes.

The Senior Campaign Director will have primary responsibility for day-to-day oversight and management of all campaigns conducted by NARAL's program team. In conjunction with the Senior Vice President of Campaigns and Strategy and the President, the Senior Campaign Director will help develop long- and short-term campaign strategy—including political, legislative, field, digital, and communication components—to achieve NARAL's goals of advancing reproductive rights and increasing our political and organizing power.

The Senior Campaign Director will coordinate integration of individual departments' strengths into forward-facing campaigns. S/he will be responsible for surfacing campaign ideas from all departments and fostering collaboration across all program departments to aggressively support the vision and direction of the President. This position will be external as well as internal, representing NARAL out in the world to allied organizations, the media, political campaigns, and donors. This person should be highly relational with a strong background in the role of strategic communications and brand marketing in successful advocacy work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with senior management team to develop long-term strategic plans for the organization.
• Create and manage execution of short-term campaigns to support NARAL's long-term goals and advance our mission.
• Convene and facilitate daily and weekly campaign check-ins, designate action items at close of meetings, and manage follow-up.
• Directly oversee and manage communication strategy, branding, and all digital campaigns, including online fundraising.
• Manage relationships with Communications consultants.
• Oversee and engineer response to attacks and emerging opportunities based on news cycle.
• Manage and approve daily written communications.
• Monitor legislative and litigation environment, and oversee program support of legislative and litigation goals.
• Manage the budgets for direct department reports in addition to the organization's budget for rapid response opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 10 years of experience in senior and strategic campaign/advocacy roles, with a strong preference for communications experience.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Strong management skills and demonstrated experience with professional development as well as ability to build, motivate, mentor, and supervise a campaign team of six or more.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Comfortable working in high-pressure environments.
• Highly relational; willing to represent NARAL externally at events.

DESCRIPTION

The Membership Associate is responsible for the day-to-day administrative support of the membership program. The person in this position will serve as the main point of contact for NARAL Pro-Choice America members each day. She/he is responsible for the daily tracking of all membership revenue, as well as the management of the sustainer and acknowledgement programs. The Membership Associate is also responsible for performing various database operations for the membership program and providing administrative support for the workplace giving and planned giving programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Addresses member service concerns via phone, email and mail, ensuring any necessary follow-up.
• Processes membership donations and tracks all revenue from the membership program on a daily basis.
• Processes and tracks all membership invoices, postage requests, check requests and purchase orders.
• Manages administrative aspects of the online program, including the creation and implementation of source codes, and the creation and maintenance of online donation forms.
• Oversees acknowledgement program, including oversight of outside vendor and regular updates of acknowledgment copy.
• Oversees day-to-day operations of the sustainer program.
• Performs various database tasks for the membership program, including but not limited to telemarketing credit card uploads, source code uploads, and end-of-campaign telemarketing uploads.
