The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) seeks a highly motivated and skilled individual to join NNEDV's Coalition Capacity Team. This is a problem-solving and troubleshooting leadership position that includes direct consultation with and technical assistance to the 56 state and territory domestic violence and dual coalitions, supervision of support staff, training, and facilitation of meetings.
NNEDV provides training, technical assistance, and support to coalitions; local domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking programs; providers of services to victims of intimate partner violence; and other stakeholders, including governmental agencies. NNEDV's Coalition Capacity Project provides comprehensive, specialized technical assistance and training to the coalitions with the goal of helping them to best address the needs of victims and local domestic violence programs. This includes topical meetings, intensive executive coaching, individualized consultation and training, peer-to-peer mentoring, regional meetings, management of a participant listserv, and the creation of resource materials.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement training and technical assistance to coalition leaders, including executive coaching and training on working with boards of directors, non-profit management, and personnel management.
  • Provide guidance and support in planning an annual National Coalition Roundtable Conference, which includes identifying emerging trends in the field, selecting topics for the conference agenda, and managing speakers.
  • Respond to daily technical assistance requests from state and territory coalition leaders and staff.
  • Coordinate with funders and other national TA providers by phone and email, providing information and referrals as needed.
  • Develop culturally appropriate resources and training materials regarding specialized issues impacting the stability of state and territory coalitions. These include, but are not limited to, board development and strategic planning, leadership transition, grant management, and organizational policies for coalitions based on best practices.
  • Lead in the development and execution of in-person consultations, trainings, webinars and regional meetings. This includes selection and communication with presenters, meeting facilitation and/or presentation, site selection, and coordination around funder requirements.
  • Work closely with the Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) to assist State Coalition grantees in program policy creation and revision.
  • Draft program- and grant-required reports and ensure that training and technical assistance data is accurately collected and reported.
  • Work closely with NNEDV's national partners to ensure coordination of resources.
Other Responsibilities
  • Attend national meetings for the purpose of building and sustaining partnerships to enhance our work.
  • Work closely with other NNEDV teams to ensure that programmatic and policy efforts are integrated and responsive to the needs of coalitions and other constituents.
  • Identify emerging issues and trends in the field and works to develop innovative training and technical assistance solutions.
  • Act as a liaison with other non-government and governmental partners, as assigned.
  • Assist in policy development and systems change issues.
  • Assist in organization-wide communications efforts to enhance the visibility of the project, the organization, and the issue of domestic violence.
  • Participate in agency-wide activities and events, and assist with them as needed.
Requirements
A successful applicant must have:
  • At least 7 years of experience in the field of domestic violence, preferably at a state or territory coalition.
  • Significant leadership experience and knowledge of nonprofit organizations; federal grant management, specifically Office of Violence Against Women and/or Family Violence Prevention Services Act grants; and program management experience.
  • Supervisory experience and strong, collaborative leadership skills, with an ability to provide executive coaching to cultivate these skills in others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with stakeholders and partners, including the ability to understand and navigate sensitive or political relationships.
  • Outstanding public speaking and facilitation skills
  • Strong written communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with team members, other agency staff, and external colleagues; work well independently; treat all people with dignity and respect; accept, act upon, and offer constructive criticism; and approach situations with a sense of humor.
  • Experience developing and providing training and technical assistance to non-profit boards, leaders, and support staff, preferably to coalitions specifically.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, manage time, evaluate progress and adjust activities to complete tasks within established time frames, and produce high quality work.
  • Demonstrated skills in goal setting, problem solving, creative/analytic thinking, and organization.
  • Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with advanced features of MS Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Commitment to the agency mission and a feminist/egalitarian workplace.
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree. Master's degree preferred.
  • Willingness to travel 25-30% of the time.

The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) is a national organization dedicated to creating a social, political, and economic environment in which violence against women no longer exists. NNEDV seeks a bilingual (English/Spanish) Program Attorney who has knowledge of or experience working with Latin@ communities to join WomensLaw (a project of NNEDV). WomensLaw maintains a growing website, www.WomensLaw.org, which is utilized by more than 1.4 million people annually. The Program Attorney will play an integral role in all WomensLaw activities with a particular emphasis on overseeing the Spanish-language portion of the WomensLaw.org website; responding to Spanish-language inquiries on the Email Hotline; and making presentations / performing outreach in Spanish to Latin@ communities in person and through social media about the ways in which WomensLaw can help them.
This is a full-time exempt position that reports to the WomensLaw Legal Director. The bilingual Program Attorney will work in NNEDV's Washington, D.C. office. Some travel will be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Interpreting statutes and translating them into "plain language" in English and Spanish.
  • Updating existing legal content and developing new content for the WomensLaw.org website.
  • Working with other experts in the field to share information and create materials appropriate for WomensLaw.org users.
  • Translating and revising Spanish website content and, if needed, recruiting/managing Spanish-speaking translators.
  • Maintaining and establishing new relationships with community-based organizations throughout the country, with a focus on organizations that help Spanish-speaking populations.
  • Updating and maintaining legal and non-legal resource listings in Spanish and English
Email Hotline
  • Answering emails received on our Email Hotline, mostly in Spanish, from victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and others.
  • Assisting with management of law school student volunteers who answer emails weekly.
  • Assisting in training/recruiting new law school volunteers to answer the Email Hotline.
Social Media, Outreach, Workshops, and Presentations
  • Leading workshops or creating presentations for community partners, primarily in Spanish; performing outreach in Spanish to Spanish-speaking population to publicize WomensLaw's services.
  • Maintaining a presence in Spanish on social media, making presentations in person and through webinars, and developing creative ways to let victims know about the ways WomensLaw can help them understand the laws and their legal recourse.
  • Facilitating presentations at conferences throughout the United States.
  • Representing WomensLaw in the Spanish language media.

QUALIFICATIONS

The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) seeks a highly motivated and high performing Public Policy Coordinator. This is a great opportunity for a committed team player to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
NNEDV is a social change organization dedicated to creating a social, political and economic environment in which violence against women no longer exists. NNEDV: (1) advocates for laws, policies and funding to address domestic violence and all violence against women; (2) provides training, technical assistance, and support to state domestic violence coalitions, as well as local domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, underserved and transitional housing programs; and (3) works with policy makers, business leaders, national allies and the general public to end all forms of domestic violence.
The Public Policy Coordinator will help implement NNEDV's policy priorities which include re-authorization, implementation, and funding of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA), elimination of domestic violence homicides (incIuding gun violence prevention), provision of victim shelter and housing, and the advancement of women's economic sufficiency. This is an entry-level position with significant responsibility. The work includes various administrative duties, as well as participation in all aspects of NNEDV's policy work. The ideal candidate is highly organized and detail driven, comfortable with consistent multi-tasking and quick deadlines, a fast researcher and great writer, proficient with internet applications, dedicated and resourceful, committed to creating positive social change, and passionate about domestic violence issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitoring and analyzing federal legislation, including providing information to Members of Congress & to state coalitions
  • Monitoring state coalition listserves to track policy conversations, summarize discussions, and research and respond to requests for information and assistance
  • Creating materials, including action alerts, fact sheets, and letters to and updates for Members of Congress, state coalitions and local domestic violence programs
  • Engaging the state coalitions and the general public in policy actions (alerts, petitions, etc.) through NNEDV's advocacy platform (Salsa), emails, and social media
  • Participating in lobby visits and strategy sessions with NNEDV staff and national coalition partners
  • Updating sections of NNEDV's website related to policy initiatives
  • Planning and coordinating annual Advocacy Day conference, including hotel procurement, materials creation, speaker arrangements, and conference follow-up
  • Helping to write Congressional testimony and draft legislation as needed
  • Attending Congressional hearings, briefings and press conferences
  • Scheduling meetings and providing logistical support for advocacy meetings
  • Handling administrative tasks, including meeting notes, financial submissions and other internal documentation
  • Working as a member of the NNEDV team—collaborating with other NNEDV programs and staff

DESCRIPTION

The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) seeks a highly motivated and high performing Grants and Development Specialist. This is a great opportunity for a committed team player to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. NNEDV is a social change organization dedicated to creating a social, political and economic environment in which violence against women no longer exists. NNEDV advocates for law, policies and funding to address domestic violence; and provides training, technical assistance, education, and support to state domestic violence coalitions; local domestic violence, sexual violence and stalking programs, transitional housing programs, and the general public.

The Grants and Development Specialist is responsible for administering at least six federal grant awards and cooperative agreements in addition to administering several large private grants. The Specialist is responsible for researching and applying for new private and government grants. This position is also responsible for cultivating donors, managing a donor database, and other development activities. The position is based in Washington, D.C., and some travel may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•Managing all grant contracts, including: working closely with the Finance Department to track grant receivables and expenditures; working closely with program managers to track grant deliverables and outcomes; maintaining contact with grant funders; ensuring that all grants are on target based on timelines, funder expectations, and deliverables; collecting information for grant applications and reporting, and submitting grant revisions and/or adjustments to grant funders in a timely manner. •Researching government, corporate, foundation and individual funding opportunities that match the programmatic goals and funding needs of the organization. •Writing grant proposals for government, corporations, private foundations and individual donors. •Working closely with program managers to develop grant budgets that meet the requirements of each funding opportunity. •Maintaining prospect/donor database and files. •Writing and making donor solicitations; writing reports, publications, and acknowledgements. •Supporting and cultivating donors with appropriate follow-up actions that result in repeat and/or larger gifts. •Planning and coordinating fundraising event logistics as needed. •Coordinating with other staff on various communications and social media initiatives. •Participating in and assisting with other organization activities and events as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A successful applicant MUST have:

•Proven success in applying for grants. 3-5 years of grant writing and management experience, including a minimum of two years of experience with government grants. Experience with government grant narratives, reporting standards, budgets, and other requirements. •Commitment to the agency mission and an understanding of a feminist philosophy. •Experience administering government grant awards, applications, reports, and modifications. •Excellent and compelling writing skills, including a strong grasp of English grammar, punctuation, copy editing, and proofreading skills. •Strong advocacy skills and an egalitarian, feminist, survivor-centered philosophy. •Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, manage time, evaluate progress and adjust activities to complete tasks within established time frames and produce high quality work. •Excellent organizing skills with attention to detail and accuracy. •Highly organized and self-motivated with the ability to work independently. •Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a team, as part of an organization, and with other organizations and other professionals; treats all people with dignity and a respectful attitude; accepts, acts upon, and offers constructive criticism; and approaches situations with a sense of humor. •Demonstrated goal setting, problem solving, creative/analytic thinking skills and organization skills. •Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with advanced features of MS Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word and donor database software (Salsa preferred). •Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience with a nonprofit agency in a relevant area.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

•Experience managing Department of Justice grants. •Experience working within the Violence Against Women movement. •Bilingual skills (reading, writing, and speaking) helpful. Spanish preferred. •Video editing and other multi-media skills helpful. •Financial and management experience desirable.
