Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA) is the primary sexual violence service provider for Calgary and surrounding areas. CCASA is looking to hire individuals to be part of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). This is an on-call casual position that provides 24-hour support to individuals who have recently experienced a sexual assault. We are looking for dynamic and flexible individuals who are able to work independently within a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities of the Sexual Assault Crisis Worker include:

• Responding to and supporting disclosures of sexual abuse/assault in a professional and supportive manner
• Completing thorough assessments regarding suicide risk , domestic violence, children at risk and shelter safety
• Providing crisis support, information, advocacy and referrals
• Working collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:

• Minimum of a diploma in social/human services, with two to three years of related work experience
• Strong crisis intervention and assessment skills
• A strong knowledge of community resources
• The ability to build professional relationships within a multi-disciplinary team

• Possess an anti-oppressive/feminist analysis of sexual violence

At this time CCASA is primarily looking for individuals who are able to be on call for overnight weekday shifts.

CCASA is seeking a full-time Sexual Assault Worker/Educator to join our Outreach Program. This individual will establish strong working relationships with community groups and organizations to raise awareness about the issues of sexual abuse and assault with a primary focus on engaging ethno culturally diverse communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Building connections, relationships and partnerships with other service providers and diverse communities that are strategic, effective and sustainable in order to understand and meet the unique needs of diverse clients (with a specific focus on Asian and South Asian Communities)
• Facilitation of CCASA's community and professional education sessions
• Public speaking to children, youth and adults on topics related to sexual violence
• Respond to disclosures of abuse/assault in a professional, supportive manner, including assessing for risk and reporting to authorities when required
• Participate in creative and effective community and program development activities
• Provide crisis support, information, advocacy and referrals to community members when needed

• Successful applicant may be required to work some evenings and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A degree in social/human services with a minimum 3 years related experience
• An understanding and comfort with issues related to sexual violence
• Possess an anti-oppressive/feminist analysis of sexual violence
• Language(s) other than English would be considered an asset
• Crisis intervention and assessment skills

Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse is offering a one year maternity leave position as a Sexual Assault Worker/Educator in the Education and Training Program. The CCASA Educators deliver the "Who Do You Tell?"™ Program in elementary schools to classes from Kindergarten to Grade six as well as undertake parent outreach activities.

Responsibilities of the Sexual Assault Worker/Educator include:

• Provide all aspects of the "Who Do You Tell?"™ (child sexual abuse education) Program, including parent information evenings, teacher in-services, student presentations etc

DESCRIPTION

Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse is offering a one year position (with the possibility of extension) as a Project Coordinator in the Education and Training Program, with specific emphasis on a project the agency is undertaking with the Canadian Sikh Network. Although employed by CCASA this dynamic individual will also report to the Project Advisory Committee and will be accountable to a project plan that focuses on four areas related to addressing sexual abuse and sexual assault in ethnic communities: 1) increasing community engagement; 2) increasing awareness; 3) building capacity for safe healing; and 4) prevention.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Undertaking a formal and informal literature review and service scan related to the project

• Community development and outreach within the Sikh and other communities in Calgary

• Program development of new programs or adapting existing programs to meet Sikh community needs

• Public speaking to children, youth and adult groups

• Crisis intervention and advocacy within the medical, legal, and social service systems

• Supporting and participating in community events to raise CCASA profile

• Working within a team concept and in diverse environments

• Dealing effectively with disclosures, questions, and challenging audience members within the context of a presentation

• Responding to disclosures of abuse/assault in a professional, supportive manner, including assessing and informing children/youth of obligations to report to authorities when required
