Non-Profit organization seeking experienced counselors to work directly with Native Hawaiian domestic violence survivors and their families in providing support groups and advocacy services that are culturally appropriate and trauma informed.
The DV (Domestic Violence) Kokua Counselor will present educational materials and facilitate Hawaiian cultural group discussions relating to domestic violence. During these groups, the counselor will provide knowledge, skills and tools for participants to use in order to help them remain safe and move toward healing from past domestic violence. The counselor will incorporate curriculum that is culturally Hawaiian based related to achieving healing and self-sufficiency. Counselor will provide support of advocacy as needed.
Goal
To work directly with Native Hawaiian domestic violence survivors and their families in providing support groups and advocacy services that are culturally appropriate and trauma informed.
Desired Qualifications
Understanding of domestic violence, community dynamics and strategies in the Hawaiian community. Organized, good verbal and written communication skills; dependable and ability to meet deadlines. Familiarity with social service agencies on the island of Oahu. Knowledge of the feminist philosophy of violence against women.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's in Social Work or equivalent and experience working with people who have experienced lived trauma, and endeavoring to overcome barriers, change life patterns, and improve living circumstances. Understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence. Knowledge and be culturally aligned with Native Hawaiian values, cultural traditions and practices. Knowledge about the community resources. Possess good interpersonal skills and critical thinking skills. Flexibility with work schedule.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate and lead groups with close attention and sensitivity to differences between participants.
  • Create and maintain a safe setting that is conducive to individual participation, healing and learning.
  • Present educational materials and facilitate Hawaiian cultural group discussions relating to domestic violence.
  • Provide knowledge, skills and tools for participants to use in order to help them remain safe and move toward healing from past domestic violence.
  • Incorporate curriculum that is culturally Hawaiian based related to achieving healing and self-sufficiency
  • Responsible for collaborating and coordinating meetings and activities with community partners and program facilitators.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings with program participant families.
  • Collect and submit required statistical data/reports to management, program staff and funder to adhere to grant requirements. (30-hour position)
  • Counselor will preserve client confidentiality and adhere to all DVAC policies in regard to client confidentiality.
  • Counselor will provide safety planning to all assigned participants. Counselor will update safety plan with client when necessary.
  • Counselor reports directly to the Advocacy Manager.
  • Provide support of advocacy as needed.
  • Must attend one (1) relevant training per quarter pertaining to job functions.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

Overview of Responsibilities
The Director of Children and Family Services will provide strategic direction, oversight and supervision of our Kentucky and Indiana residential client services. The Director will ensure best practices of children, youth and family services across all departments and function as a key member of the Senior Leadership team. The Director will supervise the development, implementation, and evaluation of residential client services and children's services across the organization and ensure that client services work toward reducing clients' risk factors, increasing protective factors, and mitigating the effects of trauma. The Director will ensure the shelter environment and direct service delivery is in line with Trauma Informed Care principles for children and families exposed to violence. The Director will collaborate and coordinate with appropriate staff to develop and oversee program outcomes and evaluation, grants, HR needs, and budgets. The Director will participate in the development of departmental budgets and manage approved budgets each fiscal year.
Position Requirements
The position requires someone with a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or a related field. A clinical license is also required. Experience in residential settings is required, and additional experience in community-based or in-home settings is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience working with children, youth and families is also required, along with 2 years of supervisory experience. The position requires someone with a strong working understanding of Trauma Informed Care principles.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Early Head Start Doula Home Visitor develops and maintains supportive strength based, culturally sensitive relationships with pregnant women and their families by providing education, physical and emotional support during all trimesters, labor and postpartum. The EHS Doula Home Visitor is responsible for ensuring that pregnant women and their families receive comprehensive home visiting and doula services to ensure the optimal development of pregnant women and their newborn babies helping them to establish healthy parent-child relationships. The EHS Doula Home Visitor ensures compliance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards and EHS Services to Pregnant Women requirements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY TASKS
Program Implementation:
  • Recruit and enroll families into the Doula Home Visiting Program
  • Maintain a caseload of 12 pregnant women providing regular doula home visiting and 24/7 availability for attending births
  • Ensure the EHS Services for Pregnant Women standards along with appropriate Head Start Program Performance Standards are in compliance
  • Established trusting, nurturing relationships with pregnant women and their families
  • Assist pregnant women in establishing goals and a birth plan for the Family Partnership Agreement and creating a plan for the accomplishment of the goals
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance regarding the mental health and developmental needs of pregnant women
  • Assists pregnant women and their families in accessing and documenting all needed health services including pre-natal visits, well child check ups, and mother post partum well being care
  • Aid in the preparation of the pregnant woman and her family for the labor and delivery utilizing appropriate doula techniques both during home visits and in group based services
  • Develop and facilitate prenatal education, advocacy and support parent groups
  • Participate in Doula Trainings, conferences, workshops, IBTI training and other trainings as required by the program
  • Obtain the needed community resources services and linkages for pregnant women
  • Acts as an advocate for the pregnant woman; interprets and explains medical procedures
  • Provide regular "first months of life" doula post partum home visits to all doula program mothers and newborns until they are enrolled in a cluster site or other infant child care programs
  • Assist program mothers in transitioning into EHS child care programs or other infant child care programs
  • Assist with community outreach efforts targeting local hospitals, clinics and community service organizations
  • Participate in regular reflective supervision and staff meetings as required by the program
  • Maintain and document all services in the family files and ensures up to date program files for each pregnant woman in the caseload

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

JOB SUMMARY

The Licensed Social Worker will demonstrate appropriate goal setting and effective practice skills in a collaborative model, serving childcare providers and parents who have enrolled in our Early Learn Program. Services will be provided in a variety of communities throughout the Bronx.

Specifically, the Licensed Social Worker will assist with the planning and implementation of the clinical aspects of the Early Learn program performing a range of clinical and administrative duties to include educational workshops (for childcare providers, staff and parents), advocacy and resource and referral services, documenting assessments, participating during intake and parent orientation and developing individualized plans that support educational and developmental needs of children.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct supervision of Director(s), provide a range of clinical and administrative duties to include educational workshops, individual and group counseling, advocacy, data collection, as well as resource and referral services.
  • Develop and maintain linkages within a network of multi-disciplinary human service organizations to include Early Intervention (EI) and Committee on Pre-School Education (CPSE) programs for the purposes of referring children for evaluations and support services for parents.
  • Work with childcare providers to learn, document and implement strategies of identifying and addressing challenges children may be experiencing. Help support parents in completing required assessment tools and assist them through the EI or CPSE referral process, as needed.
  • Provide educational workshops to staff on how to effectively understand and implement the social, emotional and mental health aspects of the Early Learn Program.
  • Provide clinical interventions as needed, in the following areas: substance abuse counseling, domestic violence, crisis intervention, and others areas that may be assigned. Where deemed necessary, make appropriate referrals to outside agencies.
  • Maintain client files on CTS and prepare reports for directors/agency as needed.
  • Attend meetings that include but are not limited to: team meetings, case conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, and regularly scheduled supervisory meetings.
  • Participate in in-house and external staff development and training activities.
  • Perform other related duties as may be requested by the supervising directors.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • LCSW or LMSW
  • Minimum of 1 -2 years experience
  • Knowledge of clinical services, case management and advocacy in a multi-disciplinary setting

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Love146 Texas Training and Outreach Coordinator is a full-time position based out of the Love146 Texas office, located in Spring, TX. The Training and Outreach Coordinator will plan, organize and implement the Love146 Prevention Education program to prevent the trafficking and exploitation of at-risk youth and increase disclosures of exploitation. The program will educate and empower youth to protect themselves. It will likewise prepare adults and professionals that interact with at-risk youth with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify and prevent commercial sexual exploitation. The Coordinator will also serve as one of Love146's liaisons to key anti-trafficking stakeholders and coordinating bodies in the state of Texas.

This position will include significant travel throughout the greater Houston area, and may include some travel throughout the state of Texas. The Texas Training and Outreach Coordinator may supervise one to four interns at any given time.

Position Type: Full Time, based on a 40-hour work week.
Salary: Based on experience. Benefits include industry-appropriate vacation and health care package for full-time employees.
Minimum Requirements: Master of Social Work; current registration to practice as a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Texas.

Job Responsibilities

Program Implementation
  • Work in collaboration with the Love146 team to executeLove146's anti-trafficking prevention program in Texas.
  • Conduct research to understand local trafficking networks and identify available resources.
  • Research and evaluate best practices for culturally specific anti-trafficking prevention curriculum.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and manage all prevention education interns in the Texas program.
  • Maintain documentation and produce reports of all presentations, educational tools and materials.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative evaluation of program effectiveness through surveys, focus groups and general observation to ensure that programs exhibit best practices and effective use of resources.
  • Maintain prevention program evaluations and deliver monthly, quarterly and annual program reports.


Trafficking Prevention Program Implementation
  • Conduct regular outreach, scheduling and training to educators, social service providers, law enforcement officials, and other adults working with youth to gain access to venues to educate at-risk youth and teach them to recognize and respond to at-risk and exploited youth.
  • Schedule and teach Love146's anti-trafficking prevention curriculum to a minimum of 1,000 teens on an annual basis in schools, shelters, detention facilities, group homes, and other community settings.
  • Maintain, strengthen and develop new relationships with schools, shelters, detention facilities, group homes, and other community settings.
  • Represent Love146 at local and national venues.

Local Anti-Trafficking Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Coordinate with anti-trafficking stakeholders to facilitate a collaborative approach to prevention efforts.
  • Identify and develop relationships with anti-trafficking stakeholders and social service providers that will provide resources to reduce the vulnerability and/or re-victimization of at-risk and exploited youth.
  • Attend and actively engage in anti-trafficking stakeholder and collaborative meetings.
Reporting and Team Interaction
  • Provide weekly updates to the US Prevention Education Manager and other management personnel describing program progress and new projects.
  • Communicate program success and stories to assist Love146's development and communications teams in conveying the program and sustaining/securing program funding.
  • Provide input on our US Programs strategy and growth needs, including but not limited to survivor care, mentoring, trainings, and education opportunities.
  • Participate in bi-monthly program team meetings in person or via telephone.
Financial Coordination
  • Provide the US Prevention Education Manager with input into the budget for the Prevention Education program and monitor expenses to ensure the program remains within the limits of established costs.
  • Ensure overall Texas program goals meet the financial investment.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish. Applicants must successfully complete a written and oral exam.
  • Master of Social Work; current registration to practice as a Licensed Social Worker in Texas is required.
  • Three years experience in social services or education related to children and youth.
  • Minimum of one year of prior experience facilitating group activities with middle and high school age students. Classroom experience preferred.
  • Experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with community and government agencies, minority-population youth, and parents.
  • Proven experience with direct service provision for sexually abused children.
  • Demonstrated diplomacy and maturity in cross-cultural interactions.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • A thorough understanding of human trafficking, specifically the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) and domestic minor sex trafficking (DMST).
  • Knowledge of child sexual abuse/exploitation and experience working with this population from both an aftercare and prevention perspective.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Houston area education and social service providers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently; to be flexible while still achieving goals.
  • Able to work independently, establishing both short and long-term objectives.
  • Ability to manage stress and express self-care concerns.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet applications (e.g., Google Docs).

WORKING CONDITIONS

Employees may spend long hours sitting, using office equipment and performing computer operations, which requires intense mental and visual concentration and eye hand coordination. Employees are located in a busy, open office area with the potential for regular interruptions, which may cause stress. This role is required to deal with a wide variety of people on various issues and will be travelling extensively in the greater Houston area as well as 1-2 weeks per year to New Haven, CT.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Sadie Nash Leadership Project (SNLP) is seeking an experienced, dynamic and compassionate MSW/LSW on a part-time basis to provide emotional and counseling support to young women (ages 14-21) during our 6 week Summer Institute program in Newark, NJ. This unique opportunity will allow the social worker to work closely with young women in a safe, supportive, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment that promotes healthy communication and healthy relationships. DESCRIPTION

The Behavioral Health (BH) Program Supervisor will organize services and the administrative needs of the behavioral health program. The Coordinator will supervise the Therapists and BH MSW Interns within all the programs (Shelter/Safe Haven 1, Shelter/Safe Haven 2, St. Elizabeth's Wellness Center, and Sojourner House).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Providing direct supervision, evaluation and scheduling of the BH team; working with Case Management Supervisors, Hotline & Intake Manager, St. Elizabeth's Wellness Center Staff, and other residential staff to ensure a coordinated Sanctuary and Trauma informed experience; ensuring all records and reports are complete in accordance with WAA standards; Monitor and coordinate procedures and standards (within regulations) for CBH billing of behavioral health services; and working collaboratively and communicating with other departments to ensure smooth operations. All responsibilities are implemented according to our mission and vision and according to Agency standards.

REQUIREMENTS
  • A Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or other social science related field with a minimum of one year of therapy experience.
  • At least two years of therapy experience providing therapeutic services to adults.
  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Sanctuary Model is a plus.
  • Able to work extended and flex hours when necessary.
  • Experience in a residential setting is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge regarding behavioral health issues and the impact it has on domestic violence survivors is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of trauma is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of addiction, co-dependency, recovery and relapse prevention is preferred.
  • Ability to work with clients dealing with mental health, drug & alcohol and domestic violence issues.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience using client database is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office software, Outlook, Word, & Excel.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle crisis situaions.
  • Knowledge of CBH billing procedure preferred
  • Completion of the 40-hour DV Training required (post hire). Satisfactory criminal record, FBI and child abuse clearances and a TB Test required pre hire (all expenses paid by WAA).

JOB SUMMARY


The purpose of the position is to assure that each Marian House II resident continues improvement through the delivery of mental health and recovery services and oversight of structured activities including regular attendance at work and house management. The incumbent is required to provide individual counseling and case management services to designated residents and to co-facilitate group counseling as directed. Marian House II Case Managers supervise all women who reside at Marian House II sites. Working in conjunction with Marian House staff and other MH II case manager/counselor(s), she coordinates the Marian House II program, counsels and assists each individual woman, and links her with other services as needed.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists women as they transition from MH I to MH II.
  • Works closely with each woman's counselor at MH I to insure continuity in the program.
  • Provides close supervision and frequent face to face meetings with residents of MH II during the initial transition Bridge Period.
  • Provides formal case management services monthly with special focus on financial management issues as well as assisting residents in accessing other programs as needed.
  • Provides individual clinical counseling twice a month and as necessary.
  • Counsels residents regarding recovery, physical and mental health, employment, education, money matters, life skills, relationships, goals, and plans for the future.
  • Provides a stable presence at MH II sites, encouraging community life and frequently interacting informally with the women.
  • Is available for unexpected issues and circumstances as they arise among the women.
  • Plans and guides a required monthly meeting of residents, allowing opportunities for sharing and for the airing of residents' concerns.
  • Plans and co-facilitates therapeutic group counseling for MH II residents twice a month. Coordinates a monthly relapse prevention group and provides oversight, as necessary.
  • Supervises the care and cleaning of the physical plant.
  • Assists residents as they prepare to move beyond MH II with developing appropriate housing plans.
  • Maintains detailed case records and develops treatment plans in conjunction with the client as assigned.
  • Make presentations in the community on topics related to mental health, trauma, & addiction, as directed.
  • Attends staff, clinical, house, and other meetings as requested.
  • Takes advantage of workshops and conferences that focus on homelessness, addiction, and other topics related to the problems experienced by Marian House women.
  • Cooperate in the agency's team approach to service provision by assuming responsibilities for program operation and house maintenance when needed. This will occasionally require presence outside regular business days and office hours.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • MS in social work or counseling psychology with 2 – 3 years experience in case management and counseling field preferred
  • Current licensure as LCPC or LCSW-C only
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Competence in verbal and written communication
  • Ability to organize, to keep records and manage a workload efficiently.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft applications
  • Background and ability to understand, appreciate, and carry out the Marian House mission; interpersonal skills to engage staff and volunteers in doing same.

To oversee the day to day functions of the women's shelter program including staff supervision and support, shelter resident relations, physical condition, and programmatic compliance relating to funders and owners. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Advocates for the mission of the organization and upholds the agency's values. 
  • Ensure the delivery of quality services through clear program procedures and guidelines. 
  • Develop and make recommendations on policies and procedures appropriate to the operation of the program. 
  • Ensure that such policies are consistent with our mission of treating shelter clients with respect and dignity, understood by all staff and volunteers, and implemented fairly and consistently. 
  • Ensure that policies and practices create an environment for clients that are based on trauma informed practices. 
  • Ensure that funder and regulatory policies are being complied with and all necessary documentation is complete. 
  • Ensure the facility meets quality standards by conducting regular physical inspections, with the Director of Facilities and individually. 
  • Ensure the program and facility operates in a safe manner at all times though regular contact with the Director of Safety. 
  • Participate in budget planning, track expenses, evaluate costs, and consider ways to conserve on costs. 
  • Identify projects for grant requests and collaborate with development staff on budget for projects. 
  • Provide clinical oversight and coordination for case management services for all women's shelter guests with Director of Social Services, women's shelter staff, and case advocates to ensure all shelter residents have an active case plan and assist shelter staff with supporting the clients as they work towards their goals. 
  • Provide clinical supervision, oversight and guidance to staff on those shelter guests with severe mental illness, chronic substance abuse and other complex needs.
  • Plan, develop, and maintain collaborations with social service, medical, and mental health providers that are helpful to our guests and workable for our staff and site. 
  • Complete reports and other program administrative duties in a timely manner. 
  • Work with Data Evaluation to ensure that HMIS is being utilized in accordance with program requirements, and to formulate effective program measurements and outcomes. 
  • Conduct regular supervision with program staff. 
  • Recruit BSW/MSW/LMHC student interns to be placed at the women's shelter and provide clinical supervision. 
  • Conduct job performance evaluations in a timely manner providing staff with feedback and opportunities for growth and development. 
  • Ensure appropriate staff coverage of all shifts. 
  • Actively participate in/facilitate staff meetings and training opportunities. 
  • Actively participate in the Management team through regularly scheduled meetings and day-to-day activities. 
  • Ensure that the programs are at all times in compliance with state and federal laws including in particular, fair housing. 
  • Be available and on call for emergencies at program sites. Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Prefer a Master Degree in social work or related field with clinical experience working with substance abuse, mental illness and individuals with trauma histories. Licensing preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience working in homeless services with some management experience preferred. Previous experience providing trauma informed care services. Experience working in shelter environment preferred.

DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the program director and clinical psychologist, interns work with clients receiving services through St. John's Shelter for Women and Children. St. John's is a multi-faceted 3-tiered program providing participants a 120-day shelter program, employment training and job placement, supportive housing and aftercare services to assist women in moving along the continuum from crisis to self-sustainability over a period of up to 18 months.

Clinic interns work though the psychology clinic at the Shelter to provide mental health services to shelter clients. Interns are afforded opportunities to practice and further develop their skills assisting clients in addressing effects of homelessness, trauma, behavioral and social difficulties, chronic mental illness and other mental health issues. Experience is afforded in areas of case management, individual therapy, psychoeducation and crisis intervention. Interns receive weekly formal individual and group supervision (2 hrs.) as well as ongoing interaction and contact with other members of the St. John's team. 

Candidates must have completed their Masters in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology and be eligible for ACSW, MFTI, or PCCI, or post-doctoral registration prior to beginning internship.

Internship terms and schedules are variable. Interns are expected to commit to working a minimum of 20 hours per week for a minimum of 12 months. The next internship cohort will begin in June 2013. This is an unpaid internship.
