South Asian Case Manager/ Advocate 
(Full Time Position, 35 hours/week)
Position is within our Community Based Services Program located in Boston and primarily serves local clients; thought services extend throughout Massachusetts to provide needed services to victims, survivors and their children. Hours are typically weekdays, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with possible after hours and weekend work. This position reports to the Community Based Services Manager.
ATASK's mission is to prevent domestic violence in Asian families and communities and to provide hope to survivors. The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for victims, survivors and their children and will work as a team member of ATASK to provide comprehensive services to the Asian and general community.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide culturally competent, trauma informed services to victims or domestic violence
  • Provide direct services to clients: including safety planning, crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy
  • Assist and accompany clients (and their children) to court, legal appointments, health care, public benefits, social/community agencies relative to client short, and long-term stabilization goals
  • Provide service and supportive counseling in client's native language as needed
  • Accurately and effectively, provide translation and interpretation on clients (and children's) behalf as needed
  • Make referrals, network, and directly advocate with other agencies to assist clients in achieving safety and stabilization goals
  • Conduct intake, assessment, and goal planning with clients
  • Maintain current and accurate records of services update database and prepare periodic reports
  • Attend staff meetings, supervision, case meetings, and trainings
  • Answer hot line calls: ascertain caller's needs; provide supportive listening, crisis intervention, safety planning, information about domestic violence, resources and inter-agency and external referrals
  • Participate in the Silk Road Gala and other fundraising events as needed
  • Represent agency at meetings with community collaborators and other community events as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Fluency (speaking, reading and writing) in English and Nepali .
  • Be understanding, sensitive to, and have empathy for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
  • At least two years of prior case management experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred, but not required
  • Experience working with domestic violence, sexual assault, or trauma preferred
  • Knowledge of health care, legal, education, work force development, mental health, and child systems preferred
  • Ability to work with survivors and/or their children in crisis situations
  • Committed to ending a culture of domestic violence
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team
  • Working knowledge or MS office suite
  • Valid driver's license preferred, and access to a vehicle, not required

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide legal advocacy to victims of domestic and sexual violence;
  • Assist victims with safety planning
  • Explain legal process and assist victims in obtaining restraining and harassment orders;
  • Participate in clinical supervision
  • Maintain up-to-date client files, statistical data, billing information and monthly reports.
  • Conduct in-depth needs assessments including but not limited to; financial, legal, and mental health,substance abuse, education andemployment, health care resources and services as well as access to emergency and permanent affordable housing.
  • Provide supportive referrals to access resources and services.
  • Monitor, track and follow up with referrals.
  • Assist clients with skill development and/or other logistics to access resources and/or services including but not limited to; application completion, accompany clients to legal, housing or health services, transportation and educate clients on financial literacy, utility assistance and other resources.
  • Make home visits as needed and/or requested.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to maintain flexible schedule in accordance with program needs; i.e. some evenings and/or weekend emergency responses may be required.
  • Trauma informed care experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of sexual violence and relationship violence.
  • Experience with crisis intervention regarding issues such as homelessness, mental health, substance abuse.
  • Experience assisting clients with housing and economic stabilization barriers including legal, financial, and psychological.
  • Knowledge and experience or willingness to learn MA State service systems including but not limited to; Department of Housing and Community Development, Department of Transitional Assistance and the Department of Children and Families preferred;
  • Self starter with a strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling or Human Services required or equivalent experience.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds of program materials and supplies
HOURS: Full-time

EDUCATION & TECHNICAL SKILLS

FUNCTION

1. Assist with coordination and delivery of crisis intervention services for both SA & DV.
2. Report services delivered as required.
3. Help assure coordination of services among all agencies and organizations involved in providing sexual assault services utilizing a victim centered approach.
4. Coordinate issues related to administration of services.
5. Represent the YWCA in a professional manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide crisis intervention and follow up services including case management and legal advocacy activities on weekends, holidays and at other times to cover for staff on vacation.
2. Participate in, as needed, initial, ongoing and system-wide training for all staff whose duties are related (direct & indirect) to crisis services.
3. Assist with administrative functions for Sexual Assault Treatment Services; facility, clerical support.
4. Provide Family Violence Shelter crisis phone coverage as required.
5. Obtain educational and promotional material for distribution via the media and brochures for clients.
6. Ensure that SANE waiting room is fully equipped with up to date materials for Relief Crisis Counselors and food/drink/clothes/toys for clients.
7. Work with program evaluation tools collecting and processing data for all reports as required.
8. Assist with establishing and maintaining liaison with community groups and agencies in order to promote SART and encourage utilization of SATP services.
9. Perform other functions as needed or assigned.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Valid driver's license, vehicle and proof of insurance.
2. Current First Aid and CPR certification.
3. Willing and able to travel around the island for meetings.
4. Willing and able to travel off-island for training and meetings.
5. Willing and able to work nights, weekends, overnights and holidays.

The PT Bilingual Hotline Advocate is a member of the National Domestic Violence Hotline (NDVH) Program Team and is supervised by the Manager of Hotline Services.
The PT Bilingual Hotline Advocate is scheduled for a 16 hour week Friday-Saturday 2:45 PM to 11:15 PM. Required meetings may necessitate attendance during hours outside of the Hotline Advocate's regular schedule. The PT Bilingual Hotline Advocate responds to incoming calls on the NDVH from victims, advocates, general public and service providers and provides crisis intervention, referrals, information and problem solving to all callers.
Due to NDVH's 24/7, 365 days per year operation, the PT Bilingual Hotline Advocate will be required to work night, weekend, and holidays. This position requires a high level of empathy and sensitivity to all incoming inquiries.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, education, advocacy and referrals to caller's as appropriate.
  • Collects demographic information on all calls (including TTY calls), enters caller's needs and caller's situations into caller application and documents referrals given to callers;
  • Refers unresolved problems between service providers and the NDVH callers to Hotline Coordinator.
  • Assist program administration in keeping the database system updated by reporting all changes to be made in service provider information.
  • Respond to caller's requests for domestic violence materials (i.e. Brochures, flyers, posters, handouts and other promotional materials).
  • Assist in overall office administration and maintenance, including answering the phone and maintaining common areas as necessary.
  • Accepts calls from victims and/or the general public. Provides referrals to local services; provides information/education about domestic violence.
  • Accepts calls from service providers; networks with service providers; receives updated service directory information from service providers.
  • Places out-going conference telephone calls to service providers to advocate for NDVH callers' needs; refers unresolved problems between service providers and NDVH callers to Hotline Coordinator; documents contacts and results.
  • Advocates shall maintain standards of conduct that are empowerment-based and nonjudgmental; Advocates shall respond to all calls in a professional manner with a tone of calmness, sensitivity, empathy and non-judgment; Advocates shall respond to all calls with accurate information; Advocates shall make effective and efficient use of time and information for each NDVH call.
  • Participates in monthly in-services, team meetings and supervision with management.
  • Adheres to the NDVH's Crisis Intervention Model and Guiding Principles

  • Experience/familiarity with computers. Knowledge of Word for Windows and Access preferred.
  • Ability to work shifts which will provide coverage of the NDVH 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, including weekends and holidays.

The LIR Overnight Set Shift Relief Advocate (Temporary) is a member of the Love is Respect Helpline and is supervised by the Helpline Shift Lead.
The term of employment is limited to a 1 year agreement.

The LIR Overnight Set Shift Relief Advocate (Temporary) is responsible for responding to incoming calls, chats and texts on the LIR website from victims, advocates, general public and service providers and provides crisis intervention, safety planning, referrals, information and problem solving to all callers.

The LIR Overnight Set Shift Relief Advocate (Temporary) position is scheduled on a set schedule. Available shifts are:
1) Sun/Mon/Tue - 11:45 pm – 8:00 am (Overnight)

DESCRIPTION

The temporary Training Project Assistant & Relief Advocate is a member of Love is Respect and is supervised by LIR Shift Leads and the Volunteer and Training Manager.

The temporary Training Project Assistant/Relief Advocate will assist the Volunteer & Training Manager with projects as needed such as developing dating and domestic violence curriculum, creating Power Points and presentations, facilitating domestic and dating violence training, and facilitating webinars to a national audience. The temporary Training Project Assistant & Relief Advocate will also provide crisis intervention, referrals, information and solutions to incoming calls and chats through the loveisrespect.org website. This position requires a high level of empathy and sensitivity to all incoming inquiries. This position is a 25 hour per week position.

Minimum of six months of training, public outreach or community education required.

Minimum of six months of program/project development or research required.

LIR is a 24/7, 365 days of the year operation. Some positions require night, weekend, and holiday scheduling. This position is a temporary part-time position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

TRAINING

•Train new and existing advocates -- must be available some weeknights and Saturdays to help conduct trainings •Help develop new trainings •Must be dynamic and engaging & must be able to train large groups of people •Able to create visually appealing PowerPoints •Must have good writing skills and be able to create facilitator guides and develop new trainings •Needs to be able to learn technical aspects of training, including projector and laptop set-up, and facilitating webinars through iLinc to a national audience

Safe Alliance (formerly United Family Services) is a non-profit agency based in Charlotte, North Carolina with additional facilities in the Charlotte and the surrounding area, including Union and Cabarrus Counties. We are dedicated to providing hope and healing to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, child abuse and helping adults and children build safe, healthy relationships.
This full-time (37.5 hours/week) position reports to the Shelter Operations Manager at Safe Alliance. He/she promotes the well-being and development of women and their children who are in danger of violence from the woman's intimate partner by managing the night time operation of the Shelter and coordinating evening volunteers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Delivers client services by providing intake and crisis intervention and case management, screening and admitting clients and by referring ineligible clients to appropriate resources. Answer crisis line and provide crisis intervention, intake and/or referral as needed.
  • Maintains a safe and stable night time environment for clients by supervising all housekeeping functions, by enforcing Shelter policies, and by handling emergency situations effectively. Also, assists with donations by sorting, organizing or disseminating donations to clients as needed.
  • Promotes and maintains professional working relationships with agency staff and community agencies by participating in activities that promote the agency and by keeping daytime staff well informed about evening activities.
  • Assists with Shelter functioning by participating in training of relief staff and volunteers.
  • Ensures the availability of quality division services by supervising volunteer events in the evening. Greet volunteers scheduled for evening projects and provide volunteers with any needed supplies/materials.
  • Contributes to quality services by staying informed of developments and trends in the areas of domestic violence, residential services and volunteer management.
  • Contributes to the accuracy of direct service information by maintaining accurate, up-to-date client, volunteer, division and agency records.
  • Contributes to agency effectiveness by performing other agency duties as required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • B.S. in human services, counseling, education, BSW or Criminal Justice or equivalent degree from an accredited university or college and 4 years related experience.
  • MSW or MA in counseling, psychology, social work or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Able to work overnight week and weekend shifts, as applicable.

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance required.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Provides hotline callers with crisis and supportive counseling, information and referrals, and assistance with safety planning

The LIR Relief Advocate is responsible for responding to incoming calls, chats and texts on the LIR website from victims, advocates, general public and service providers and provides crisis intervention, safety planning, referrals, information and problem solving to all callers.
Due to LIR's 24/7, 365 days per year operation, the LIR Relief Advocate will be required to work night, weekend, and holidays. This position requires a high level of empathy and sensitivity to all incoming inquiries.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as role model of work and behavior standards for LIR in and outside of the work place including social media profiles and blog. Accepts calls and chats from victims and/or the general public. Provides referrals to local services; provides information/education about domestic violence. Accepts calls and chats from service providers; networks with service providers; receives updated service directory information from service providers. Places out-going conference telephone calls to service providers to advocate for LIR callers' needs; refers unresolved problems between service providers and LIR callers to Helpline Shift Leads; documents contacts and results. Advocates shall maintain standards of conduct that are empowerment-based and nonjudgmental; Advocates shall respond to all calls and chats in a professional manner with a tone of calmness, sensitivity, empathy and non-judgment; Advocates shall respond to all calls and chats with accurate information; Advocates shall make effective and efficient use of time and information for each LIR call and chat session. Collects demographic information on all calls (including TTY calls), enters caller's needs and options discussed into computer program; documents referrals given to callers; maintains data entry records for worker activity codes. Respond to caller's requests for domestic violence materials (i.e. Brochures, flyers, posters, handouts and other promotional materials).

Must have emotional and physical stamina to deal with a variety of stressful situations, including responses to complaints and internal and external interactions. Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse is offering a one year position (with the possibility of extension) as a Project Coordinator in the Education and Training Program, with specific emphasis on a project the agency is undertaking with the Canadian Sikh Network. Although employed by CCASA this dynamic individual will also report to the Project Advisory Committee and will be accountable to a project plan that focuses on four areas related to addressing sexual abuse and sexual assault in ethnic communities: 1) increasing community engagement; 2) increasing awareness; 3) building capacity for safe healing; and 4) prevention.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Undertaking a formal and informal literature review and service scan related to the project
  • Community development and outreach within the Sikh and other communities in Calgary
  • Program development of new programs or adapting existing programs to meet Sikh community needs
  • Public speaking to children, youth and adult groups
  • Crisis intervention and advocacy within the medical, legal, and social service systems
  • Supporting and participating in community events to raise CCASA profile
  • Working within a team concept and in diverse environments
  • Dealing effectively with disclosures, questions, and challenging audience members within the context of a presentation
  • Responding to disclosures of abuse/assault in a professional, supportive manner, including assessing and informing children/youth of obligations to report to authorities when required

Brooklyn Community Services is one of Brooklyn's largest and oldest non-sectarian social services agencies. Serving more than 10,000 individuals annually, BCS provides a broad and diverse range of services including prevention of foster care placement; crisis intervention; early childhood and after school education; vocational training, job placement, and clinical services to adults with physical and developmental disabilities, and histories of mental illness.
BCS's Transitional Living Community is a 40 bed section of the Brooklyn Women's Shelter in East New York, Brooklyn. TLC provides homeless, low-income, mentally ill women with temporary shelter and assistance to secure permanent housing. TLC recruits its clients primarily from the assessment unit of the Brooklyn Women's Shelter. Staff conduct comprehensive assessments to identify women with severe and persistent mental illness, many also having serious personal, social, medical and economic problems. A principle feature of the TLC program is the "milieu treatment" in which women are helped to practice the skills they will need to live successfully outside the shelter system, including pre-vocational preparation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide group and individual therapy which facilitates insight or behavioral change and supports residents' progress toward health and housing.
Assess clients, and determine goals for appropriate methods of treatment within the context of TLC's purpose of attaining mental health stability and obtaining housing.
Create and maintain relevant group structures, milieu activities, trips, and projects to encourage client participation in the therapeutic and housing process and to foster a sense of community and support.
Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team to include participation in client treatment planning, weekly case conference, and staff meetings.
Write progress notes which document the types of activities in which client participates, patterns of attendance, interpersonal behavior, response to modalities, and progress towards goals. Maintain Daily Activity Sheets and Client Activity Records.
Educate other staff about the rationale, methodology, and goals of Art Therapy, through in-services, informal contacts and role modeling.
Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director.
REQUIREMENTS
Masters in Creative Arts Therapy required; ATR-BC and LCAT required. Experience working with mentally ill and/or homeless populations preferred.

The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network is the nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization. RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1.800.656.HOPE and the Online Hotline at rainn.org and publicizes the hotline's free, confidential services; educates the public about sexual assault; and leads national efforts to prevent sexual assault, improve services to survivors and ensure that rapists are brought to justice. The DoD Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (SAPRO) launched the DoD Safe Helpline, operated by RAINN, which focuses on serving the DoD community.
The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network has openings for Safe Helpline staffer positions. All hotline shifts will be completed from our office in downtown DC
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer crisis calls routed through online and telephone Safe Helpline services
- Provide compassionate and accurate crisis support and referral services to the DoD community
- Knowledgeable on eligibility requirements for Veteran Affairs
- Utilize crisis intervention best practices including safety planning, brainstorming and listening skills
- Enter non-personally identifying call information into helpline database
- Complete end of shift reports

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
