The Center for Women and Families provides trauma-informed advocacy and support for individuals, families and entire communities affected by intimate partner violence and sexual assault. We mitigate the impact of trauma by building resiliency and reducing risk factors at all levels. Overview of Responsibilities
The Director of Children and Family Services will provide strategic direction, oversight and supervision of our Kentucky and Indiana residential client services. The Director will ensure best practices of children, youth and family services across all departments and function as a key member of the Senior Leadership team. The Director will supervise the development, implementation, and evaluation of residential client services and children's services across the organization and ensure that client services work toward reducing clients' risk factors, increasing protective factors, and mitigating the effects of trauma. The Director will ensure the shelter environment and direct service delivery is in line with Trauma Informed Care principles for children and families exposed to violence. The Director will collaborate and coordinate with appropriate staff to develop and oversee program outcomes and evaluation, grants, HR needs, and budgets. The Director will participate in the development of departmental budgets and manage approved budgets each fiscal year.
Position Requirements
The position requires someone with a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or a related field. A clinical license is also required. Experience in residential settings is required, and additional experience in community-based or in-home settings is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience working with children, youth and families is also required, along with 2 years of supervisory experience. The position requires someone with a strong working understanding of Trauma Informed Care principles.

Child/Adult Therapist is responsible for providing individual and group therapy to survivors of sexual and domestic violence in our out-patient setting.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field
  • Valid Maryland clinical license
  • Experience working with children and adult
  • Experience working in sexual violence (preferred) or domestic violence programs
  • Experience and knowledge of direct behavioral health services, including assessment, treatment, and consultation
  • Knowledge of diverse modalities of counseling and diagnostic principles
  • Knowledge of, and ability to, apply counseling and diagnostic theories and techniques to a full range of diverse client populations as well as co-occurring disorders
  • Belief in a strengths-based approach to human services
  • Passion for mission and philosophy of HopeWorks along with the knowledge of company history, culture, identity, and goals
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Availability to work at least two evenings per week to meet client needs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other computer software
  • Native or near-native fluency in Korean, French, Mandarin, Urdu or Spanish (preferred but not required)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
CLIENT CARE
  • Provide individual and group counseling according to individualized treatment plans and in accordance with professional standards
  • Make treatment and social service referrals to appropriate agencies that support client goals
  • Create, maintain, and submit accurate records and documents in a timely manner
  • Maintain current knowledge of assessment and treatment techniques, criminal justice systems, and community resources using in-service training, seminars, workshops, and publications
  • Collaborate with other departments and outside agencies for continuity of care
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT SUPPORT
  • Accurately complete client paperwork and compile reports as needed
  • Document and communicate all pertinent information/issues to the Clinical Director
  • Attend weekly supervision meetings with Clinical Director
  • Attend clinical and agency staff meetings
  • Maintain clinical license in good standing
  • Prioritize the use of best and evidence based practices
  • Research programming trends and current practices being used in the field
  • Other duties as assigned

Life Span is a community based, not for profit organization located in the Chicago metropolitan area which provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and their children.

Life Span is seeking a full time Children and Teen Counselor to provide individual and group services to boys who are grammar school, middle school and high school age. Mentoring high school boys is a major component of this job. Participants in services are children and teens who have witnessed abuse at home and/or who are involved in abusive relationships themselves.

Counseling services are provided in Life Span offices and in school based programs. Services include providing educational information about domestic violence and safety planning, developing non-violent conflict resolution skills, and promoting positive self-esteem building activities. The Children and Teen Counselor works with a team and must be a good communicator, flexible with scheduling, and able to represent the agency to community partners including school personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

B.A. in counseling psychology, social work or related field required; Master's preferred. Illinois IDVA mandated 40 hour Domestic Violence training desirable. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Candidates should also demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in domestic violence, women's issues, and issues affecting low income families. Car required.

DESCRIPTION

The Behavioral Health (BH) Program Supervisor will organize services and the administrative needs of the behavioral health program. The Coordinator will supervise the Therapists and BH MSW Interns within all the programs (Shelter/Safe Haven 1, Shelter/Safe Haven 2, St. Elizabeth's Wellness Center, and Sojourner House).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Providing direct supervision, evaluation and scheduling of the BH team; working with Case Management Supervisors, Hotline & Intake Manager, St. Elizabeth's Wellness Center Staff, and other residential staff to ensure a coordinated Sanctuary and Trauma informed experience; ensuring all records and reports are complete in accordance with WAA standards; Monitor and coordinate procedures and standards (within regulations) for CBH billing of behavioral health services; and working collaboratively and communicating with other departments to ensure smooth operations. All responsibilities are implemented according to our mission and vision and according to Agency standards.

REQUIREMENTS
  • A Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or other social science related field with a minimum of one year of therapy experience.
  • At least two years of therapy experience providing therapeutic services to adults.
  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Sanctuary Model is a plus.
  • Able to work extended and flex hours when necessary.
  • Experience in a residential setting is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge regarding behavioral health issues and the impact it has on domestic violence survivors is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of trauma is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of addiction, co-dependency, recovery and relapse prevention is preferred.
  • Ability to work with clients dealing with mental health, drug & alcohol and domestic violence issues.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience using client database is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office software, Outlook, Word, & Excel.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle crisis situaions.
  • Knowledge of CBH billing procedure preferred
  • Completion of the 40-hour DV Training required (post hire). Satisfactory criminal record, FBI and child abuse clearances and a TB Test required pre hire (all expenses paid by WAA).

DESCRIPTION

Brooklyn Community Services is one of Brooklyn's largest and oldest non-sectarian social services agencies. Serving more than 10,000 individuals annually, BCS provides a broad and diverse range of services including prevention of foster care placement; crisis intervention; early childhood and after school education; vocational training, job placement, and clinical services to adults with physical and developmental disabilities, and histories of mental illness.
BCS's Transitional Living Community is a 40 bed section of the Brooklyn Women's Shelter in East New York, Brooklyn. TLC provides homeless, low-income, mentally ill women with temporary shelter and assistance to secure permanent housing. TLC recruits its clients primarily from the assessment unit of the Brooklyn Women's Shelter. Staff conduct comprehensive assessments to identify women with severe and persistent mental illness, many also having serious personal, social, medical and economic problems. A principle feature of the TLC program is the "milieu treatment" in which women are helped to practice the skills they will need to live successfully outside the shelter system, including pre-vocational preparation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide group and individual therapy which facilitates insight or behavioral change and supports residents' progress toward health and housing.
Assess clients, and determine goals for appropriate methods of treatment within the context of TLC's purpose of attaining mental health stability and obtaining housing.
Create and maintain relevant group structures, milieu activities, trips, and projects to encourage client participation in the therapeutic and housing process and to foster a sense of community and support.
Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team to include participation in client treatment planning, weekly case conference, and staff meetings.
Write progress notes which document the types of activities in which client participates, patterns of attendance, interpersonal behavior, response to modalities, and progress towards goals. Maintain Daily Activity Sheets and Client Activity Records.
Educate other staff about the rationale, methodology, and goals of Art Therapy, through in-services, informal contacts and role modeling.
Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director.
REQUIREMENTS
Masters in Creative Arts Therapy required; ATR-BC and LCAT required. Experience working with mentally ill and/or homeless populations preferred.
