The PT Manager of Hotline Services (MHS) is a member of the National Domestic Violence Hotline (NDVH) Program Team.
Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the PT MHS provides leadership, direction and support to a team of Hotline Advocates and is responsible for the supervision of the day to day operations and the delivery of quality of services on the Hotline.
The PT MHS schedule is Sunday – Wednesday, 1:00 am – 6:00 am, but due to NDVH's 24/7, 365 days per year operation, hours may exceed 20 hours per week and require adjustments in work hours and may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for scheduling, supervising and coaching Hotline Advocates to provide quality service and cover telephone lines 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, including weekends and holidays, and posting of schedule weekly.
  • Oversees the accuracy of all employee changes, status records, timesheets, etc.
  • Holds regular supervisory meetings and conducts at least one formal job performance evaluation per year with each Hotline Advocate on the team.
  • Participates weekly in Managers of Hotline Services meeting.
  • Provides initial orientation and on-going training for Hotline Advocates.
  • Role models of standards of conduct and workplace success factors.
  • Prepare and maintain documents and reports as required.
  • Review and process required correspondence in a timely manner, including mail, e-mail and FYI's.
  • Provide Hotline Advocates with current information, tools and guidance.
  • Compiles, analyzes, designs computer generated statistical reports and telephone data reports that show calls answered, abandonment rates and statistical averages and submits to Hotline Program team.
  • Provides any additional reports requested by the Hotline Program Team or Director.
  • Responds to incoming calls during peak call periods.
  • Provides Hotline Advocates with onsite assistance for difficult calls.
  • Handles unresolved problems between service providers and NDVH callers.
  • Develops and presents training materials.
  • Participates in personnel actions.
  • Coordinates with the Hotline Program Team on program needs and goals.
  • Apply NCFV personnel policies and procedures and all state and federal laws that pertain to the workplace.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work or other closely related field.
  • Degree can be substituted with a total of four years (in any combination) college and/or equivalent work experience. This experience cannot be concurrent with the Experiential Requirements.
  • Three years of experience in direct services to victims of domestic violence or similar human services program. At least two years must be in a domestic violence or sexual assault program.
  • One year of supervisory experience.
  • Fluency in conversational Spanish is required for 1/3 of Hotline/Advocate Supervisor positions.
  • Volunteer experience may count as work experience.
  • Ability to manage time and complete multiple activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high stress situations.
  • Ability and willingness to work as a team member, providing support and constructive feedback in interpersonal interaction.
  • Commitment to feminist and nonviolent perspective and behavior and willingness to work in such an environment.
  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to be flexible and creative.
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

  • Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Recognition of the dynamics of domestic violence and societal factors that contribute to the continuation of violence against women and children.
  • Knowledge of the history of the battered women's movement in Texas and the U.S.
  • Ability to read, write and converse in English; Spanish required.
  • Availability to travel overnight occasionally.
  • Must have emotional and physical stamina to tolerate prolonged sitting or standing to deal with a variety of stressful situations, including responses to complaints, difficult requests from programs and individuals in crisis, and internal and external interactions, to effectively work long and at times odd hours, while maintaining a sense of humor.

The PT Bilingual Hotline Advocate is a member of the National Domestic Violence Hotline (NDVH) Program Team and is supervised by the Manager of Hotline Services.
The PT Bilingual Hotline Advocate is scheduled for a 16 hour week Friday-Saturday 2:45 PM to 11:15 PM. Required meetings may necessitate attendance during hours outside of the Hotline Advocate's regular schedule. The PT Bilingual Hotline Advocate responds to incoming calls on the NDVH from victims, advocates, general public and service providers and provides crisis intervention, referrals, information and problem solving to all callers.
Due to NDVH's 24/7, 365 days per year operation, the PT Bilingual Hotline Advocate will be required to work night, weekend, and holidays. This position requires a high level of empathy and sensitivity to all incoming inquiries.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, education, advocacy and referrals to caller's as appropriate.
  • Collects demographic information on all calls (including TTY calls), enters caller's needs and caller's situations into caller application and documents referrals given to callers;
  • Refers unresolved problems between service providers and the NDVH callers to Hotline Coordinator.
  • Assist program administration in keeping the database system updated by reporting all changes to be made in service provider information.
  • Respond to caller's requests for domestic violence materials (i.e. Brochures, flyers, posters, handouts and other promotional materials).
  • Assist in overall office administration and maintenance, including answering the phone and maintaining common areas as necessary.
  • Accepts calls from victims and/or the general public. Provides referrals to local services; provides information/education about domestic violence.
  • Accepts calls from service providers; networks with service providers; receives updated service directory information from service providers.
  • Places out-going conference telephone calls to service providers to advocate for NDVH callers' needs; refers unresolved problems between service providers and NDVH callers to Hotline Coordinator; documents contacts and results.
  • Advocates shall maintain standards of conduct that are empowerment-based and nonjudgmental; Advocates shall respond to all calls in a professional manner with a tone of calmness, sensitivity, empathy and non-judgment; Advocates shall respond to all calls with accurate information; Advocates shall make effective and efficient use of time and information for each NDVH call.
  • Participates in monthly in-services, team meetings and supervision with management.

DESCRIPTION

The NAF Hotline Fund is a 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to providing accurate, unbiased reproductive health care information to women from diverse backgrounds and to providing callers with confidential consultation and referrals to providers of quality abortion care. The Hotline Fund also provides case management services to women with special needs and limited financial assistance to help subsidize care for low-income women. The Hotline provides services in English, Spanish, and French.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Quality and Operations Assistant will work with both the Data Processing Manager and the Clinical Data Manager to provide administrative support to the Hotline. These duties will include:

•Sorting, entering, scanning, and filing data; •Providing support resources for members; •Analyzing and tracking compliance data; •Corresponding with members; •Maintaining the quality of documents; and •Helping provide compliance and quality trainings.

QUALIFICATIONS

•Demonstrated commitment to a woman's right to choose abortion ; •Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and accurately with great attention to detail; •Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; •Ability to work on a variety of projects and be able to manage multiple deadlines; •Prior experience working with databases required; •Ability to work independently as well as in a team; •Interest in doing administrative work for non profit organizations; •Understanding of women's complex social and financial situations; •Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; •Previous experience working with a membership organization or in customer service, and at least one year of professional or intern experience required; and •Experience with Microsoft Access strongly preferred.

DESCRIPTION

The temporary Training Project Assistant & Relief Advocate is a member of Love is Respect and is supervised by LIR Shift Leads and the Volunteer and Training Manager.

The temporary Training Project Assistant/Relief Advocate will assist the Volunteer & Training Manager with projects as needed such as developing dating and domestic violence curriculum, creating Power Points and presentations, facilitating domestic and dating violence training, and facilitating webinars to a national audience. The temporary Training Project Assistant & Relief Advocate will also provide crisis intervention, referrals, information and solutions to incoming calls and chats through the loveisrespect.org website. This position requires a high level of empathy and sensitivity to all incoming inquiries. This position is a 25 hour per week position.

Minimum of six months of training, public outreach or community education required.

Minimum of six months of program/project development or research required.

LIR is a 24/7, 365 days of the year operation. Some positions require night, weekend, and holiday scheduling. This position is a temporary part-time position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

TRAINING

Safe Alliance (formerly United Family Services) is a non-profit agency based in Charlotte, North Carolina with additional facilities in the Charlotte and the surrounding area, including Union and Cabarrus Counties. We are dedicated to providing hope and healing to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, child abuse and helping adults and children build safe, healthy relationships.
This full-time (37.5 hours/week) position reports to the Shelter Operations Manager at Safe Alliance. He/she promotes the well-being and development of women and their children who are in danger of violence from the woman's intimate partner by managing the night time operation of the Shelter and coordinating evening volunteers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Delivers client services by providing intake and crisis intervention and case management, screening and admitting clients and by referring ineligible clients to appropriate resources. Answer crisis line and provide crisis intervention, intake and/or referral as needed.
  • Maintains a safe and stable night time environment for clients by supervising all housekeeping functions, by enforcing Shelter policies, and by handling emergency situations effectively. Also, assists with donations by sorting, organizing or disseminating donations to clients as needed.
  • Promotes and maintains professional working relationships with agency staff and community agencies by participating in activities that promote the agency and by keeping daytime staff well informed about evening activities.
  • Assists with Shelter functioning by participating in training of relief staff and volunteers.
  • Ensures the availability of quality division services by supervising volunteer events in the evening. Greet volunteers scheduled for evening projects and provide volunteers with any needed supplies/materials.
  • Contributes to quality services by staying informed of developments and trends in the areas of domestic violence, residential services and volunteer management.
  • Contributes to the accuracy of direct service information by maintaining accurate, up-to-date client, volunteer, division and agency records.
  • Contributes to agency effectiveness by performing other agency duties as required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • B.S. in human services, counseling, education, BSW or Criminal Justice or equivalent degree from an accredited university or college and 4 years related experience.
  • MSW or MA in counseling, psychology, social work or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Able to work overnight week and weekend shifts, as applicable.

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides counseling, supportive services and advocacy to adults who have experienced domestic violence. Services are typically provided within a housing setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Provides hotline callers with crisis and supportive counseling, information and referrals, and assistance with safety planning

  1. Facilitates process by which women exit the shelter, including checking rooms for readiness for the next woman and conducting exit interviews
  1. Communicates/reviews each woman's activities at every shift change
  1. Takes responsibility for the security of the shelter, its contents and the well-being of the women and their children
  1. Conducts intakes within 48 hours of admission (or delegates to another counselor)
  1. Ensures that resident service plan is updated and signed by resident on a weekly basis

  1. Management responsibility for a portion of the shelter caseload and directs follow-up activities for part-time relief advocates, volunteers and interns
  1. Works with counseling department and shelter manager to plan and oversee programming for daily resident group meetings

  1. Responsible for the overall appearance of the shelter including office space.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE


1. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
2. CPR/First Aide (may be completed upon hire)
3. Criminal check and child abuse clearances will be required
4. Associates required BA/BS preferred
5. PCADV approved domestic violence training certificate (may be completed upon hire)
6. 2 years residential and/or experience working with domestic violence survivors

DESCRIPTION

The Crisis Services Coordinator coordinates crisis services within Intervention Services, creates and maintains the schedule of hotline and medical support staff and volunteers, oversees data entry, and maintains communications with allied partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • On-Call shifts – Ensures all shifts are covered with appropriate staff. Responsibilities include communicating with volunteers and Answering Service. Provides answering service updated schedule of staff covering shifts. Provides direct services: taking special/sensitive hotline calls, and providing medical accompaniment (hospital calls) when needed.
  • Crisis intervention – provides advocacy and emotional support in absence of full staffing.
  • Screening – Makes initial contact with individuals in crisis, schedules screening, collects information, and forwards data to Counseling Services.
  • Training – Conducts training of allied professionals, e.g., law enforcement personnel.
  • Communications -- Communicates with case managers and counseling staff to ensure follow-up support, information & referral services for clients is provided.
  • Referral services – Maintains a complete inventory of local service providers.
  • Administration – Ensures all paperwork is entered into appropriate agency data tracking systems weekly. Completes all designated reports to fulfill agency, board and grant requirements and turns in on time.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • MA/MS in Human Services field preferred. BA/BS degree in Human Services field required or in-progress.
  • Able to handle multi-phone system, perform basic office skills, and knowledgeable of computers.
  • Advanced knowledge of sexual violence issues.
  • Graduate of RCASA's 40-hour advocate skill building training.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills, work both independently and with a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle crisis calls and remain calm & non-judgmental.
  • Ability to reach hospital within 30 minutes of receiving notification of victim's arrival at emergency room.

The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network is the nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization. RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1.800.656.HOPE and the Online Hotline at rainn.org and publicizes the hotline's free, confidential services; educates the public about sexual assault; and leads national efforts to prevent sexual assault, improve services to survivors and ensure that rapists are brought to justice. The DoD Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (SAPRO) launched the DoD Safe Helpline, operated by RAINN, which focuses on serving the DoD community.
The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network has openings for Safe Helpline staffer positions. All hotline shifts will be completed from our office in downtown DC
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer crisis calls routed through online and telephone Safe Helpline services
- Provide compassionate and accurate crisis support and referral services to the DoD community
- Knowledgeable on eligibility requirements for Veteran Affairs
- Utilize crisis intervention best practices including safety planning, brainstorming and listening skills
- Enter non-personally identifying call information into helpline database
- Complete end of shift reports
- Working at least two holidays a year
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess excellent communications skills (both oral and written)
- Must be familiar with instant messaging
- Must have basic computer and database proficiency
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to attend an in-person training
- Must be comfortable discussing issues surrounding sexual violence
- Must pass a criminal background check (administered by RAINN)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Veterans, prior Veterans Affairs employees, and prior MST Coordinators will be given priority
- Crisis hotline/intervention experience
- Bachelors degree in social work, psychology or related field
- Experience with military populations
SHIFTS
Part-time staff must be able to take at least 2 shifts a month. Also must be able to attend the monthly staff meetings.
The shifts are 7am-1pm, 1pm-7pm, 7pm-11pm/8pm-midnight, and 11pm-7am – 7 days a week.
