POSITION DESCRIPTION
Sarah's Inn, an innovative, dynamic, and effective domestic violence agency, is looking for a creative individual to serve on its violence prevention team. The Violence Prevention Program is on the cutting-edge of prevention efforts in the state of Illinois. Team members are involved at multiple levels of various regional and statewide coalitions and have opportunities to advance prevention research and develop original, inventive pilot programming available to schools across the state.
The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, will look forward to developing and refining skills in public speaking and group facilitation, and will be able to trouble-shoot on the fly while maintaining a go-with-the-flow positive attitude. He or she will be a self-starter who is comfortable working independently and collaboratively, will be capable of multi-tasking and remaining organized in a fast-paced environment, and will be invested in expanding programming to ensure adolescents develop healthy attitudes about themselves and their relationships.
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides regular facilitation of 9-week prevention and self-defense workshops for boys in local high schools; implements, evaluates, and collects data for the agency's high school prevention initiatives;
EDUCATION
Master's degree in social work for an accredited college or university; must be license-eligible if not licensed
EXPERIENCE
Experience working with adolescents, a background in education orpsychology, classroom management or teaching experience, proficiency in curriculum development, academic research, and/or marketing, fluency in Spanish, reliable transportation
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Organize and facilitate the agency's violence prevention programming at local high schools during the school year; maintain organizational relationships with current school partners
2.Obtain R.A.D. and R.A.D. for Men self-defense certification and facilitate self-defense classes as required by violence prevention curricula
3.Coordinate the evaluation of the agency's high school curricula in cooperation with Carnegie Mellon staff; consistently and accurately track student demographic information and program fidelity; maintain orderly records of evaluation materials
4.Assist in the expansion of high school prevention curricula to new school partners by organizing and facilitating workshops, arranging reliable transportation, building new relationships with partners, and communicating successes and challenges to the Prevention Program Director
5.Develop and revise prevention curricula and corresponding outreach and promotional materials, including program rationales, instructor guides, and training materials; incorporate new research findings and current events as appropriate
6.Coordinate Leadership Development Initiative; maintain paperwork and communication with 8-12 adolescent volunteers; facilitate weekly or bi-monthly evening meetings; recruit and interview new volunteers as necessary
7.Provide basic support and referrals as appropriate to adolescent clients electronically via the Teen Text Line, website, email, and Facebook; provide crisis-line oversight as required by agency staff
8.Participate in the ongoing development of cohesive, effective and efficient teams throughout the organization; become certified and facilitate middle school programming to support Prevention Program team as necessary
SKILLS
This position requires mid-level proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of programs.

The organization's work includes prevention education, policy reform, community engagement, and legal services. CAASE works to prevent sexual exploitation by increasing public understanding of the harms inherent in the sex trade. CAASE creates and implements educational curricula that encourage high-school-age men to work against sexual exploitation. CAASE conducts and publishes research on the commercial sex trade, trafficking and the impact of sexual exploitation. CAASE advocates for legislative and policy reforms to increase legal and social accountability for perpetrators of harm, and promotes broad community support for services and resources for survivors. CAASE advises law enforcement, policy makers, and other stakeholders on best practices relating to sex trafficking, prostitution, and rape. THE POSITION

Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will assume the top leadership role in the organization and oversee CAASE's strategic and programmatic operations, lead the 9-member staff, manage the annual operating budget, and play a visible role in policy development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Mission Advancement
  • Manage, evaluate, and update programs, services, and advocacy efforts to advance CAASE's mission
  • Develop and implement organization and staff annual plans, in line with the strategic plan, to achieve short- and long-term goals, and impact the movement to end sexual harm
  • Ensure that programming, organizational structure, staffing, intern and volunteer base, and infrastructure all enable CAASE to maintain and grow programmatic impact
  • Act as the primary public representative of CAASE
  • Provide oversight to staff in their roles as spokespersons for CAASE and its programs, and work with them to build new and leverage existing relationships with media, political representatives, and government

Development and Financial Management

  • Manage day-to-day finances within annual budget
  • Develop and achieve ambitious and strategic fundraising plans to support CAASE's current work and future growth
  • Identify and solicit new individual donors, corporate sponsorships, foundations, government, and other grant sources to meet and exceed revenue goals; maintain positive relationships with existing donors and funders
  • Collaborate with Board to identify development funding opportunities and events
Management & Administration
  • Manage overall human resources function, including all stages of the employment lifecycle and CAASE's workforce of directors, staff, interns, and volunteers
  • Foster individual staff development and expand capabilities across the organization
  • Create and administer consistent, effective, and compliant organizational policies (e.g., HR, finance) in coordination with the Board
Board Relations
  • Use Board members' skills and experience to accomplish strategic and organizational goals
  • Participate, as appropriate, in Board and committee recruitment, development, and activities
  • With Board Chair, ensure that Board and staff have shared understanding of mission, vision, and goals
  • Work closely with Board Chair and Board members regarding governance issues and strategic planning
  • Attend all Board meetings
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
  • Graduate degree or equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience

DESCRIPTION

Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse is offering a one year position (with the possibility of extension) as a Project Coordinator in the Education and Training Program, with specific emphasis on a project the agency is undertaking with the Canadian Sikh Network. Although employed by CCASA this dynamic individual will also report to the Project Advisory Committee and will be accountable to a project plan that focuses on four areas related to addressing sexual abuse and sexual assault in ethnic communities: 1) increasing community engagement; 2) increasing awareness; 3) building capacity for safe healing; and 4) prevention.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Undertaking a formal and informal literature review and service scan related to the project
  • Community development and outreach within the Sikh and other communities in Calgary
  • Program development of new programs or adapting existing programs to meet Sikh community needs
  • Public speaking to children, youth and adult groups
  • Crisis intervention and advocacy within the medical, legal, and social service systems
  • Supporting and participating in community events to raise CCASA profile
  • Working within a team concept and in diverse environments
  • Dealing effectively with disclosures, questions, and challenging audience members within the context of a presentation
  • Responding to disclosures of abuse/assault in a professional, supportive manner, including assessing and informing children/youth of obligations to report to authorities when required
  • Participating in creative and effective outreach activities to parents and parent serving organizations
  • Delivery of CCASA's other community and professional education programs
  • Successful candidates may be required to work some evenings and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS

Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the largest socialist organization in the US, and an affiliate of the global Socialist International, seeks an organizer for its youth division, the Young Democratic Socialists (YDS). The position includes work for both DSA and for our affiliated 501(c)3, the Democratic Socialists of America Fund.
YDS is an organization of campus-based chapters and regionally-based groupings of younger (under 30) socialists who wish to develop a political and cultural space of their own, yet one that is an integral part of DSA. The organizer works out of DSA's national office in New York City and travels throughout the United States to speak to both new and experienced YDS campus chapters, as well as to independent progressive students interested in learning about democratic socialism.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Organize an annual winter outreach conference and an annual summer conference for current members and chapters, in collaboration with the elected and volunteer leadership of Young Democratic socialists (YDS):
  • Recruit new members and assist in the formation of new chapters of YDS
  • Facilitate the ongoing political work of the members and chapters of YDS
  • Provide staff support, especially leadership development, for YDS
  • Represent YDS at conferences and meetings of other radical activists
  • Participate in meetings of the DSA National Political Committee and serve as a liaison between YDS and DSA's locals and commissions
  • Report to and assist DSA's National Director as needed.
REQUIREMENTS

The Feminist Majority Foundation (FMF) is seeking highly motivated and passionate graduating seniors and recent college graduates (1-3 years out of college) to organize at colleges and universities out of our East Coast office as National Campus Organizers for the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southern, and Mid Western regions for FMF's Choices Campus Leadership Program.
National Campus Organizers play an essential role at the Feminist Majority Foundation. Campus organizers are responsible for launching and maintaining pro-choice, feminist activist groups called Feminist Majority Leadership Alliances (FMLAs) and affiliated feminist groups who identify themselves with other names; implementing Choices Campus campaigns; and conducting leadership and issue-based training for student activists.
This position requires at least 10 weeks of travel for work per academic year and regular communication with students and faculty on campuses with chartered and affiliated groups. All eligible applicants must have a current and valid driver's license, which is necessary for traveling, proficiency in social media, excellent public speaking skills and enjoy networking and communicating with other people whether by telephone, text, email or while attending conferences and workshops.

The Victim Center is a grassroots nonprofit agency that provides free-of-charge services to men, women, and children victims of violent or sexual crimes. This is a professional leadership position that will report-to and work in conjunction with the Executive Director. This position will be partially responsible for operational functions, fund-raising, grant writing, public speaking, networking, and other duties related to perpetuating the mission of The Victim Center.
DUTIES

The Vancouver Pride Society (VPS) brings together members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two-Spirited and Queer community, their friends, allies and supporters in celebration! We represent the unique culture and spirit of our community by producing quality, inclusive events such as the Pride Parade and Festival.


DESCRIPTIONThe successful individual will be responsible for creating a comprehensive strategy to screen, recruit, retain and celebrate the contributions of approximately 600 volunteers. As a volunteer-driven organization, the VPS depends on the generous support of volunteers who contribute hundreds of thousands of hours annually to organize and manage one of the largest LGBTTQ celebrations in the world. The successful individual will also provide logistical support and participate in event planning where applicable.

Remuneration is dependent on experience. This position is a seasonal full-time and the successful applicant(s) will be expected to have extremely flexible work schedules with the ability to work early mornings or late nights during events.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create a comprehensive strategy to screen, recruit, retain and celebrate the contributions of our volunteers.
• Expand VPS volunteer opportunities into year-round administrative support in the VPS office.
• Develop orientation and training material.
• Facilitate volunteer orientations and training workshops. 
• Coordinate with our Partnership Coordinator to solicit prizing for volunteer events and key volunteers.
• Organize recruitment and appreciation events.
• Leverage our online volunteer management system to build and coordinate the VPS volunteer base.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE• A diploma or certificate in Volunteer Management and/or equivalent work experience.
• Applicants must have a mix of both paid and volunteer experience.
• Experience creating orientation and training materials for new volunteers.
• Public speaking facilitation experience.
• Two years experience working or volunteering for a related social-enterprise or not-for-profit organization in the LGBTQ community will be an asset.
• Strong organizational and project-management experience will be an asset.
• Priority will be given to under-represented or individuals with barriers to employment.
