POSITION SUMMARY
The Early Head Start Doula Home Visitor develops and maintains supportive strength based, culturally sensitive relationships with pregnant women and their families by providing education, physical and emotional support during all trimesters, labor and postpartum. The EHS Doula Home Visitor is responsible for ensuring that pregnant women and their families receive comprehensive home visiting and doula services to ensure the optimal development of pregnant women and their newborn babies helping them to establish healthy parent-child relationships. The EHS Doula Home Visitor ensures compliance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards and EHS Services to Pregnant Women requirements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY TASKS
Program Implementation:
  • Recruit and enroll families into the Doula Home Visiting Program
  • Maintain a caseload of 12 pregnant women providing regular doula home visiting and 24/7 availability for attending births
  • Ensure the EHS Services for Pregnant Women standards along with appropriate Head Start Program Performance Standards are in compliance
  • Established trusting, nurturing relationships with pregnant women and their families
  • Assist pregnant women in establishing goals and a birth plan for the Family Partnership Agreement and creating a plan for the accomplishment of the goals
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance regarding the mental health and developmental needs of pregnant women
  • Assists pregnant women and their families in accessing and documenting all needed health services including pre-natal visits, well child check ups, and mother post partum well being care
  • Aid in the preparation of the pregnant woman and her family for the labor and delivery utilizing appropriate doula techniques both during home visits and in group based services
  • Develop and facilitate prenatal education, advocacy and support parent groups
  • Participate in Doula Trainings, conferences, workshops, IBTI training and other trainings as required by the program
  • Obtain the needed community resources services and linkages for pregnant women
  • Acts as an advocate for the pregnant woman; interprets and explains medical procedures
  • Provide regular "first months of life" doula post partum home visits to all doula program mothers and newborns until they are enrolled in a cluster site or other infant child care programs
  • Assist program mothers in transitioning into EHS child care programs or other infant child care programs
  • Assist with community outreach efforts targeting local hospitals, clinics and community service organizations
  • Participate in regular reflective supervision and staff meetings as required by the program
  • Maintain and document all services in the family files and ensures up to date program files for each pregnant woman in the caseload
  • Enter participant information and other required program information into the MIS system in a timely manner
  • Work within the guidance of DONA's scope of practice and code of ethics. Refer to the DONA web site: www.DONA.org
  • Participate in Research planning and evaluation efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the job description
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Associates Degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field required. Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field preferred.
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • At least 3 years experience working in early childhood/family support, or home visiting programs required
  • At least 2 years direct experience with Head Start preferred
  • Ability to establish supportive, meaningful relationships with pregnant women, families and their infants
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of infant and child development and family practice
  • Ability to use reflective supervision
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Knowledge of community resources and the capacity to develop community cooperation to ensure that pregnant women receive comprehensive services
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

OVERVIEW

The Executive Director (ED) is the organization's chief operating officer, leading the agency's clinical and administrative staff in fulfilling SHALVA's mission with a strategic vision. HISTORY
 
Founded on the principle that every Jewish woman has the right to be safe in her personal relationship with her partner, SHALVA's mission is to address domestic abuse in Jewish homes and relationships through counseling and education. Rooted in Jewish values and founded in 1986, the agency provides free domestic abuse crisis-counseling for adult women in the Chicago Jewish community. SHALVA is the oldest independent Jewish domestic abuse agency in the United States and has been instrumental in facilitating national and international dialogues on the specific needs of Jewish families experiencing domestic violence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Development, Outreach and Community Relations: Oversee all staff and board fundraising efforts toward a $700,000 annual goal, including major gift development, foundation relations, corporate giving, event planning and donor cultivation. Establish and steward relationships with key donors and prospects. Serve as primary agency spokesperson and liaison to partner organizations and community groups, build new collaborative relationships, and provide strategic vision to development and outreach planning.

Administration and Human Resources: Hire, supervise and evaluate staff. Work with the Board and staff to develop and monitor the annual budget. Oversee daily office operations and identify opportunities for greater efficiency. Guide and implement policies and procedures established by the Board of Directors and support professional/volunteer development.

Board Administration and Support: Work in partnership with Board leadership to support Board initiatives and develop members as agency leaders. Keep Board members advised of all key agency happenings. Assist in the cultivation of new Board leadership and provide resources toward the education and training of new and returning Board members.

Program/Service Delivery and Communications: Oversee the design, promotion and quality of programs and services delivered to SHALVA clients and volunteers. Work with board and staff members to develop communications plan and promotional/educational materials.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of managerial experience at a directorship level, preferably within a nonprofit organization
  • Proven track record of fundraising success
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Basic understanding of Jewish culture and traditions

POSITION SUMMARY

EDUCATION
Master's degree in social work for an accredited college or university; must be license-eligible if not licensed
EXPERIENCE
Experience working with adolescents, a background in education orpsychology, classroom management or teaching experience, proficiency in curriculum development, academic research, and/or marketing, fluency in Spanish, reliable transportation
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Organize and facilitate the agency's violence prevention programming at local high schools during the school year; maintain organizational relationships with current school partners
2.Obtain R.A.D. and R.A.D. for Men self-defense certification and facilitate self-defense classes as required by violence prevention curricula
3.Coordinate the evaluation of the agency's high school curricula in cooperation with Carnegie Mellon staff; consistently and accurately track student demographic information and program fidelity; maintain orderly records of evaluation materials
4.Assist in the expansion of high school prevention curricula to new school partners by organizing and facilitating workshops, arranging reliable transportation, building new relationships with partners, and communicating successes and challenges to the Prevention Program Director
5.Develop and revise prevention curricula and corresponding outreach and promotional materials, including program rationales, instructor guides, and training materials; incorporate new research findings and current events as appropriate
6.Coordinate Leadership Development Initiative; maintain paperwork and communication with 8-12 adolescent volunteers; facilitate weekly or bi-monthly evening meetings; recruit and interview new volunteers as necessary
7.Provide basic support and referrals as appropriate to adolescent clients electronically via the Teen Text Line, website, email, and Facebook; provide crisis-line oversight as required by agency staff
8.Participate in the ongoing development of cohesive, effective and efficient teams throughout the organization; become certified and facilitate middle school programming to support Prevention Program team as necessary
SKILLS
This position requires mid-level proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of programs.

THE ORGANIZATION

Vision CAASE envisions a community free from all forms of sexual exploitation, including sexual assault and the commercial sex trade.

Mission CAASE addresses the culture, institutions, and individuals that perpetrate, profit from, or support sexual exploitation. The organization's work includes prevention education, policy reform, community engagement, and legal services. CAASE works to prevent sexual exploitation by increasing public understanding of the harms inherent in the sex trade. CAASE creates and implements educational curricula that encourage high-school-age men to work against sexual exploitation. CAASE conducts and publishes research on the commercial sex trade, trafficking and the impact of sexual exploitation. CAASE advocates for legislative and policy reforms to increase legal and social accountability for perpetrators of harm, and promotes broad community support for services and resources for survivors. CAASE advises law enforcement, policy makers, and other stakeholders on best practices relating to sex trafficking, prostitution, and rape. CAASE engages in civil litigation against perpetrators and facilitators of sexual harm and advocates for appropriate and effective criminal prosecution of perpetrators. CAASE develops toolkits for nonprofits, faith-based groups, schools, businesses, feminist groups, and other communities and individuals who would like to take action against sexual harm.

THE POSITION

Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will assume the top leadership role in the organization and oversee CAASE's strategic and programmatic operations, lead the 9-member staff, manage the annual operating budget, and play a visible role in policy development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Mission Advancement
  • Manage, evaluate, and update programs, services, and advocacy efforts to advance CAASE's mission
  • Develop and implement organization and staff annual plans, in line with the strategic plan, to achieve short- and long-term goals, and impact the movement to end sexual harm
  • Ensure that programming, organizational structure, staffing, intern and volunteer base, and infrastructure all enable CAASE to maintain and grow programmatic impact
  • Act as the primary public representative of CAASE
  • Provide oversight to staff in their roles as spokespersons for CAASE and its programs, and work with them to build new and leverage existing relationships with media, political representatives, and government
  • Regularly promote CAASE through public speaking engagements, media interviews, task forces, steering committees, and collaboration with partners in the anti-violence community

Development and Financial Management

Management & Administration

The GirlForward Program Director is an effective communicator, multi-tasker, teacher and team player who is passionate about GirlForward's mission. The Program Director will most often work in the GirlForward office, but will also complete job responsibilities in participants' homes, school environments, and other similar locations. This position will be required to work some evenings and weekends to manage program activities.

OVERVIEW

For 10 years, Urban Initiatives has run a health and education soccer program for second through fourth grade boys and girls in the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) in underserved communities. Urban Initiatives is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit community development corporation that was established in 2003 through a grassroots effort by two CPS teachers, the school in which they worked, and the parents of their students in order to boost their physical fitness, health education, academic performance, and character development. Urban Initiatives believes in sports-based youth development and the importance of providing safe spaces for children to learn and grow. Urban Initiatives takes a whole child approach to development in order to provide children, who have the odds stacked against them, with the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Urban Initiatives is offering an AmeriCorps Member / Youth Program Associate for the 2013/2014 service term. Urban Initiatives is a Chicago based nonprofit organization that runs a health and education soccer program in 24 Chicago Public Schools and has grown tremendously over the years. The Program Associate will have the opportunity to work with the senior staff in a casual, collaborative working environment and will provide direct service through assistant coaching and parent outreach at four school sites in underserved Chicago communities. Full-time Hours: In season, typically M-Th; 7:30 AM-3:30 PM and F; 10:00 AM-6:00 PM. Out of season, typically M-F; 9:00 AM-5:00 PM. Members are required to work a minimum of 1700 hours or approximately 40 hours per week during the 10-month service term.

Stipend: The program will offer to the member a living stipend of $14,000, training and professional development opportunities. Upon the completion of the service term and the required 1700 worked hours; the member will become eligible for a $5,550 education award.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Youth Program Associate dedicates his/her time to overseeing Work to Play Program quality. Additionally, the Youth Program Associate assists with implementation of the Take the Lead Program as well as Healthy Places activities at one partner school one day a week.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee Work to Play Program implementation at 5 school sites
  • Be the liaison between the schools and the UI office
  • Know all contents of the Work to Play Program Booklet including games, lessons, main points, health and character information, as well as administrative documents – also assist in ongoing program development by making suggestions for enhancements
  • Support programming by serving as Assistant Coach while at program sessions at each school every week
  • Oversee field trips, seasonal team parties and Service Learning Projects at each of your school sites
  • Other direct service includes assisting with program-related events, paperwork dissemination/collection, snack delivery, program evaluation, and other support
  • Take photos, videos, and record success stories to be posted on the UI blog or shared/written about in newsletters
  • Implement UI's parent outreach plan at all schools and track parent participation through activities such as parent meetings, parent letters, handouts, phone calls, invitations, field trips, etc.
  • Assist Program Manager with On-Site Program Director Evaluations
  • Participate in required staff meetings, staff development sessions and trainings
  • Identify and build relationships within the school communities of the schools served
  • Identify and reach out to potential program partners
  • Support one partner with more in-depth intervention through the Healthy Places Project
  • Support the Take the Lead Program by assisting with leadership retreats and facilitating monthly school-based meetings

ABOUT

Girls in the Game provides and promotes sports and fitness opportunities, nutrition and health education and leadership development to enhance the overall health and well-being of all girls. Our year-round continuum of programs includes after school programs for elementary-, middle- and high-school girls, a five-week summer camp, one-day health fests, a year-round leadership development program and parent and caregiver healthy lifestyles trainings.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Development Coordinator is responsible for leading Girls in the Game's Charity Race Team program, which entails recruiting and supporting volunteers who fundraise for Girls in the Game while participating in a marathon, triathlon or other race. Additionally, the Development Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Development Manager in coordinating all of the organization's special events which includes an annual dinner/silent auction, a summer golf outing, and other partner events. The Development Coordinator will also help with the organization's communications efforts and corporate relationship building.

Girls in the Game is seeking a full-time Development Coordinator to do the following:
  • Lead the Charity Race Team program
  • Recruit Charity Race Team members
  • Support Charity Race Team members in their fundraising efforts, including online fundraising
  • Coordinate Girls in the Game's presence and Charity Race Team member services at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon
  • Maintain organization website and email communication
  • Work on social networking strategy and execution
  • Maintain ongoing communications with event contacts including vendors, guests, sponsors, donors and committee members
  • Coordinate silent auction and raffle donations
  • Coordinate guest marketing, signage and print materials
  • Coordinate event registration
  • Track event contacts, sponsorship, sales and donations in the database
  • Support the Development Manager in building and maintaining good relationships with event contacts
  • Attend events and help the Development Manager lead staff and volunteers and steward guests and sponsors
  • Coordinate partner events and cause marketing projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience in event planning and marketing, preferably for a non-profit organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer environments, e.g. Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Employment is contingent upon proof of eligibility to work
  • Verification of degree/credentials
  • Background check and fingerprint clearance
  • Valid driving license
  • Proof of insurance on personal vehicle
  • Recent satisfactory DMV printout of driving record
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends for various scheduled events
  • Agreement to uphold all of the Girls in the Game Policies and Procedures (by signature)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Contract position (12 hours/week) responsible for the overall management of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's Out of the Darkness Community Walks in Springfield and sites throughout southern Illinois in addition to other events and outreach responsibilities. Events Coordinator will also work on additional events and meetings as directed. Position reports to Illinois Area Director and may work with the Illinois Chapter Board.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Events Coordinator will work from home on personal computer with internet access in Springfield Illinois. Must be able to travel for meetings, events, and as directed.
  • Travel throughout the state is required and reimbursable. Several meetings/events take place in the evening and on weekends.
  • Participate in community awareness events to increase publicity of the organization and educate the public on suicide prevention programs available through AFSP.
  • Responsible for fiscal management of events as well as volunteer management - including recruiting and training volunteers to serve on event committees.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with community leaders and organizations to promote AFSP's message, build support for our mission and increase involvement in AFSP events and programs.
  • Work with media to publicize AFSP events and mission to heighten public awareness and reach fundraising goals.
  • Secure walk sites and ensure that all necessary permits and licenses are secured. Interact with officials and local authorities (town clerks, police, and fire depts.) as necessary.
  • Identify and solicit in conjunction with walk committee companies to provide cash and in-kind sponsorship and media sponsors.
  • In accordance with procedures identified in AFSP's walk manual oversee registration on the day of the walks.
  • In conjunction with walk committee recruit individual and team walkers (as outlined in walk manuals).
  • Be available as needed to help with mailings, brochure distribution and other administrative tasks associated with events.
  • Organize other outreach activities
  • Plan other community events
DESCRIPTION OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to the issues of suicide, depression, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders.
  • Must work independently successfully and be trustworthy.
  • Must be professional, organized, and courteous.
  • A strong work ethic and a drive to achieve goals is a must.
  • 3 professional references required.
  • Previous nonprofit or event planning experience preferred.
NATURE OF POSITION

The Events Coordinator is a contractual position. This individual will work an average of 12 hours per week (some weeks less, some weeks more) and will receive a flat fee each month. The Events Coordinator works with their own computer at home. He or she must live in Springfield or a suburb of Springfield. He or she agrees to be available for regular meetings with the supervisor and Board Members.
