GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. A combination of education, professional experience and/or life experience which will enable the provision of educational services regarding sexual assault (SA) and Domestic Violence (DV).
2. Capable of empathic response to sexual assault and/or domestic violence victims, who identify themselves at community presentations.
3. Knowledge of feminist issues, sexual assault and domestic violence preferred.  

EDUCATION & TECHNICAL SKILLS

1. Preferrred - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in one or a combination of the following fields: Education, Counseling, Social Work, Women's Studies and Communications or Associates Degree with relevant experience.

FUNCTION

1. Assist with coordination and delivery of crisis intervention services for both SA & DV.
2. Report services delivered as required.
3. Help assure coordination of services among all agencies and organizations involved in providing sexual assault services utilizing a victim centered approach.
4. Coordinate issues related to administration of services.
5. Represent the YWCA in a professional manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide crisis intervention and follow up services including case management and legal advocacy activities on weekends, holidays and at other times to cover for staff on vacation.
2. Participate in, as needed, initial, ongoing and system-wide training for all staff whose duties are related (direct & indirect) to crisis services.
3. Assist with administrative functions for Sexual Assault Treatment Services; facility, clerical support.
4. Provide Family Violence Shelter crisis phone coverage as required.
5. Obtain educational and promotional material for distribution via the media and brochures for clients.
6. Ensure that SANE waiting room is fully equipped with up to date materials for Relief Crisis Counselors and food/drink/clothes/toys for clients.
7. Work with program evaluation tools collecting and processing data for all reports as required.
8. Assist with establishing and maintaining liaison with community groups and agencies in order to promote SART and encourage utilization of SATP services.
9. Perform other functions as needed or assigned.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Valid driver's license, vehicle and proof of insurance.
2. Current First Aid and CPR certification.
3. Willing and able to travel around the island for meetings.
4. Willing and able to travel off-island for training and meetings.
5. Willing and able to work nights, weekends, overnights and holidays.

THE POSITION
Reporting to the Domestic Violence Department's Shelter Manager, the Shelter Advocate provides peer counseling, crisis and case management, community referrals and domestic violence education to individuals and families residing in the YWCA Silicon Valley's confidential emergency domestic violence shelter. The Shelter Advocate conveys empathy, respect, and compassion when delivering services. You are a member of a high-performing team who supports all activities related to the coordination of daily operations, including but not limited to room readiness, distribution of food and supplies, basic site maintenance, conflict resolution, crisis management, client accompaniment and direct advocacy. The Shelter Advocate must not fail in effectively communicating survivor needs to the team and/or any non-compliance of shelter guidelines. To ensure safety, you must not fail to respond effectively to safety threats, conflicts and crisis situations.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and reliable individual with a high level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence. Essential to this role is a demonstrated ability working with culturally and economically diverse individuals and families; a demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment and to respond appropriately to unexpected situations.
Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills to work independently and as part of a team. You must demonstrate empathy and warmth, as well as excellent communication skills. You must have an understanding of feminism and a strong commitment to social justice. Additionally, an ideal candidate will possess knowledge of domestic violence, trauma, housing services and client-centered service provision.
Candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree in a social services field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Key to success is the ability to be present in a changing work environment; the ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse team, with flexibility, initiative and a sense of humor; and the ability to make decisions appropriately, prioritize effectively and model healthy boundaries with empathy and compassion. Candidates should be competent in using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and have experience in confidential data management and record keeping.
The ideal candidate is a warm, highly organized self-starter deeply committed to providing services from a strengths-based, social justice and anti-oppression framework. Prior advocacy-based counseling, case management or residential/housing experience is a plus. Bilingual, bi-cultural and bi-literate skills are highly preferred but not required.
Work hours are primarily Monday through Friday, including some evenings. Schedule TBD. Delivery of service may include overtime to accomplish task at hand. You will be working in a confidential, restricted working environment, sometimes alone. Work includes lifting up to 30 pounds.
Required: Cleared background check (fingerprinting), valid TB test, valid California driver's license, and auto insurance. Must have completed or be willing to complete CPR certification and 40hr-trained California State Domestic Violence Counselor certification. (Training will be provided).

  • Conduct group and one-on-one tutorials to clients preparing for job interviews and graduates needing brush-ups
  • Participation in staff meetings, case conferences and other departmental meetings
  • Prepare and input client's computer skills progress into the New York State Dept. of Labor's One Stop Operating System (OSOS).
  • Work closely with other instructors to ensure workshops fit overall curriculum
  • Work closely with senior computer instructor and MIS director to upkeep the department's technology
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree with two years relevant experience or four years of instructional experience

The Employment Specialist will work with homeless and near homeless families and individuals to stabilize housing, obtain job readiness skills, connect to WorkSource resources, and obtain employment. This position will enroll clients into the YWCA's Employment and Housing Stability (EHS) program, which is funded by the King County Veteran and Human Services levy. The Employment Specialist will conduct assessments, provide job training workshops, and assist clients with job retention, wage progression and money and time management skills. The Employment Specialist will maintain records of clients' progress, complete reports on demographics and achievement of program outcomes and provide support services as needed. Additional services provided by the Employment Specialist will include working with employers to develop job opportunities, working with housing providers to coordinate services, working with WIA and other WorkSource staff at WorkSource offices to co-enroll clients, conducting a "Career Circle" job club, teaching employability workshops, and working with other service providers in King County.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with community partners to recruit and screen applicants to determine eligibility followed by enrollment and orientation
  • Assess client's job readiness, occupational training needs and need for additional community resources and helps develop clear and realistic employment and educational objectives
  • Position requires networking and maintaining contact with representatives of other social service providers and housing providers, including YWCA housing, Catholic Community Services, South King County Multi-Service Center, Vine Maple Place and other providers
  • Provides clients with support services and/or makes referrals to other community agencies to resolve barriers to employment
  • Provides individual and group job search preparation and training to explore and develop the habits and attitudes needed to be successful in the workplace
  • Coaches clients in developing job skills, resumes, cover letters etc. and provides clients with job search information
  • Assist clients with job readiness, wage progression, housing stability and money management goals
  • Maintains accurate client files and enters client information into YWCA Client Track, King County demographic reports, e-JAS, and the Self Sufficiency Calculator
  • Completes monthly and quarterly data and narrative reports on program performance
  • Co-enroll EHS clients into the Basic Food Employment & Training program by submitting information to DSHS
  • Will be required to travel to multiple locations to meet with clients, including housing sites
  • Will be required to provide WorkSource core services including job seeker walk-ins and occasional trainings
  • May also assist in the development and delivery of Dependable Strengths training and trainings on serving homeless families
  • Continuing search for understanding of racial, gender and class equity
  • Show demonstrated ability to interact with people of different cultures
  • Adhere to all Volunteer Services protocol relative to volunteer usage, recognition and monitoring. Work alongside volunteers, where applicable

  • Knowledge of case management practices
  • Knowledge of King County labor market, vocational training programs, WorkSource system, and other local resources

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Accounting Supervisor directs and supervises the Accounts Payable and General Ledger functions along with three Accounts Payable Specialists. The Accounting Supervisor will prepare bank and account reconciliations, as directed, maintain the general ledger system, including the chart of accounts and associated processes, prepare and enter monthly journal entries. The Accounting Supervisor will also assist the Controller with preparation for annual audit process and maintain fixed asset system.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The incumbent will supervise three Accounting Assistants. Supervisory duties will include training, mentoring, review of work product and employee performance reviews
  • Manage the general ledger, including monthly journal entries
  • Maintain the fixed asset system
  • Prepare bank and account reconciliations
  • Determine if supporting documentation is sufficient to pay vendor
  • Determine validity of GL coding
  • Mentor, answer questions, resolve issues of employees
  • Collaborate and report information with co-workers
  • Answer questions, provide information and research questions for all other staff within the agency
  • Support the YWCA's Social Justice Initiative by understanding how racism, sexism, classism and other oppressions play out in institutions and systems

DESCRIPTION

BABES Network - YWCA is a peer leadership program for women and families affected by HIV, a sisterhood of women facing HIV together. BABES promotes self-empowerment, reduces isolation, enhances quality of life and serves the needs of women living with HIV and their families through peer support, advocacy, education and outreach.

Operating on the concept that HIV positive women are uniquely qualified to understand and support one another, BABES Network's HIV positive Peer Advocates support our mission by helping other HIV positive women move into positions of leadership. They provide peer mentorship and education to other HIV positive women, and recruit women for events and retreats. Peer Advocates may also perform community outreach and prevention education at schools, treatment centers, shelters, prisons, churches, businesses and other groups.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Engage HIV+ members in conversations about treatment adherence, medical care, support 
Support healthy behaviors and attitudes among BABES' multi-cultural membership with active listening, strength-based counsel, education and modeling 
Respond to provider referrals and self-referred women to provide welcoming service entry point for newly diagnosed or those re-entering the care system 
Facilitate support groups, events and retreats. 
Visit members in the hospital or at home as prearranged with supervisor. 
Work with co-workers to develop an effective team to fulfill BABES Network mission. 
Provide resources and referrals to women living with HIV/AIDS including food, housing and transportation assistance, medical care and case management 
Stay up-to-date on medical developments related to HIV and changes to AIDS services 
Assist other staff members with community outreach, volunteer management, newsletter production and fund-raising activities 
Attend trainings to maintain proficiency in active listening, peer advocacy, medical treatment, de-escalation, other community services, etc. 
Perform community outreach and prevention education at schools, treatment centers, shelters, prisons, churches, businesses and other groups as requested by supervisor 
Keep accurate records of services provided by entering all communications and updated information in CareWare database 
Achieve contact goals for one-on-one peer counseling via phone and in person 
Correspondence, staff meetings, data entry, trainings and other administrative functions 
Meet regularly with Program Manager to assess performance and adjust workload 
Provide a welcoming, calm and courteous presence in the office and on the phones 
Help keep the kitchen and other common spaces clean and orderly 
Show demonstrated ability to interact with people of different cultures 
Continuing search for understanding of racial, gender and class equity

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/work experience 
One year or more experience living with HIV/AIDS

Ability to discuss medical information including sexual history and sexual practices and other information that may be graphic in nature 
One or more years experience assisting with trainings, leadership development and/or public speaking 
One year or more experience providing referrals to medical and support services for HIV positive people in Washington State 
Two years or more experience working with staff and clients from a variety of racial, cultural and economic backgrounds including people experiencing homelessness, living with HIV/AIDS or mental illness 
Two years or more experience using computer skills, including but not limited to, Microsoft Word and Outlook 
One year or more experience with data entry preferred 
Knowledge of and sensitivity towards issues affecting women living with HIV/AIDS 
Experience working with the African American and African communities, understanding of their culture 
Motivational Interviewing preferred 
Must be an HIV+ woman 
English fluency required, Spanish or other language proficiency a plus

HOURS & BENEFITS

Part time, 20 hours a week 
Weekdays, between hours of 10am-4pm. Some weekend and evening work required

Compensation: $14.54-$17.45 per hour

As a condition of employment, the YWCA requires all employees hired on or after July, 1 2009 to make a 5% contribution into a 403(b) plan sponsored by the YWCA until they are eligible for the YWCA Retirement Plan. Once an employee is eligible (typically after two years) for the YWCA Retirement Plan, that individual is no longer required to participate in the 403B plan, but is required to participate in the YWCA Retirement Plan at a reduced pay rate of 5%. This reduction in pay coupled with a local YWCA and National YWCA match reaffirms the YWCA's commitment to the long-term self sufficiency of our staff and is a benefit for YWCA employees. It is important to note; however, the 5% reduced pay rate will lead to a reduction in pay, but, will never reduce wages below the minimum wage required by the State of Washington. This new pay rate will be the basis of any future YWCA salary adjustments. If you have worked in a YWCA agency previously and qualified for YWCA retirement, your deducted wages along with YWCA contributions will immediately be transferred to the YWCA retirement

BASIC DUTIES
The Web & Technology Associate will provide support to and coordination for the Information Technology Department for the YWCA USA. This position requires excellent technical skills with the ability to think through issues and make recommendations to management. Additional responsibilities will include assisting with various webmaster duties and most importantly, the ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent projects is essential.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Web & Technology Associate will:
  • Assist with the build-out and ongoing web duties and support of the YWCA intranet website and serve as backup support to the other public websites for web development and content management, including updating existing content, creating new pages and culling older content as necessary.
  • Under the direction of the Web & Technology Manager, assist in building and maintaining the YWCA Resource Library, part of the YWCA intranet.
  • Assist in the implementation and completion of computer/network projects.
    • Provide support as directed by the Web & Technology manager for ongoing digital communications/IT capacity building activities for the local YWCA associations.Assist in general troubleshooting and employee instruction of PC/network system operations.
    • Assist with the set up and termination of e-mail accounts/passwords.
    • Assist the Web & Technology Manager in the use of web analytic tools to produce reports to drive organizational decisions.
      • Identify opportunities for expanded website features and functions, including the implementation of new technologies and trends.
      • Other duties as assigned by the Web & Technology Manager
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and/or two years related experience, preferably with an membership-based non-profit organization
  • Experience implementing and maintaining websites using content management systems (Blackbaud Sphere CMS knowledge preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of and skill in HTML and a familiarity with CSS
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office 365, particularly SharePoint, is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of membership database management
    • Excellent organizational, time management, communication skills
    • Knowledge of website development standards
    • Proficient with office productivity suites, especially Microsoft Office and familiarity with a graphics editing program, such as Adobe Photoshop, is recommended
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from YWCA national and local association staff
      • Ability to work collegially in a fast paced team environment and adapt to change as necessary
      • Ability to interface both with tech-savvy and non-tech savvy individuals with respect and skill
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
The selected candidate must be passionate about the mission and vision of the YWCA. S/he must have a track record of success and capacity to assist with the development and support of a sophisticated content management system and related digital communications tools
The successful candidate will bring strong organizational skills and will have the ability to multi-task while keeping track of detailed information.
