PURPOSE OF POSITION

To provide immediate crisis and safety counseling to victims of domestic violence when contacted by local police departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Provide immediate crisis and safety counseling to victims of DV when contacted by police departments
  2. Provide court accompaniment to domestic violence victims at criminal proceedings
  3. Follow-up calls with victims, referrals, information and services AWP performs
  4. Systems advocacy to police departments, District Attorney's office, District Justices and other victim service agencies
  5. First Response statistical information gathering and record keeping
  6. Court accompaniment to contempt hearings
  7. Develop and implement working guidelines with participating police departments
  8. Liaison between police departments and legal systems with victims of domestic violence
  9. Review permission slips with participating police departments and follow-up with victims
  10. Flexible schedule to enable participation and attendance at conference and trainings provided by PCADV, PCCD, Dept. of Justice and STOP relevant to criminal proceedings, system advocacy, and new law
  11. Assist victims of domestic violence in completing Victim Impact statements and Victim Compensation forms
  12. Ongoing outreach to police departments
  13. Adhere to the confidentiality policy and other policies of A Woman's Place
  14. Contribute to the positive work environment of the organization

DESCRIPTION

The Women's Center of Jacksonville's Rape Recovery Team has an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong interest in supervising a dynamic sexual assault victim advocacy program. The Rape Recovery Team serves adult and teen sexual assault victims (reported and unreported) and their loved ones 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through crisis counseling, advocacy, information and referral, outreach support, and hotline services. This program has experienced solid growth since its inception in 1997 and continues to be in a state of creative expansion. The position oversees several programs within the Rape Recovery Team: 24/7 On Call Advocacy, Primary Prevention Education, Stop Sexual Violence Against Elders, and Baker County Victim Advocacy Rural Grant and Program Coordination. 


WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
The position requires an individual that possesses prior non-profit experience in program development, staff and volunteer supervision, grants management, budget management, community organizing skills, proficiency in Microsoft computer programs, crisis intervention experience, the ability to work with adults and teens, and the ability to participate in occasional 24/7 pager rotation. 

A MSW or MA in Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Public Administration, Non-profit Management, or a related area is preferred. Four years experience in management and direct service is preferred. Experience in sexual assault or domestic violence programs is a plus. A BA or BS will be considered if the application has 6+ years of management, program development, and direct service experience. Awareness of feminism and sensitivity to the societal issues of women is preferred. The Women's Center of Jacksonville embraces diversity in the workplace.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
The ideal candidate has knowledge of sexual violence issues and the ability to handle multiple priorities, deliver group presentations, interact successfully with diverse populations, effectively manage the program, and effectively communicate with law enforcement and other community agencies. 

This is a full-time position with benefits. 


Salary Range: $18.00-$20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and education.
