The Associate Director of Social Enterprise and Business Strategy will arrive at a time of great excitement and momentum for the organization, and will have the unique opportunity to be involved in shaping the financial sustainability of the IPPF/WHR network on both a strategic planning and local implementation level.  The principle responsibility of this position is to develop an overall social enterprise strategy for WHR, and manage the development of sound social enterprise business models that enable sustainable health service delivery at the local level.

The Associate Director of Social Enterprise and Business Strategy will be a seasoned leader with previous management experience in a sizeable mission focused not-for-profit or for-profit ideally a health focused enterprise.  The ideal candidate has a passion for working with social initiatives that promote global health and wellbeing via strategic and analytical avenues that utilize business acumen in order to realize a social and financial impact.  Furthermore, the ideal candidate is currently seeking a position that will allow him or her to make a difference in the lives of underserved and marginalized populations.

The Associate Director will work directly with committed local NGO partners to adapt current business models to context specific needs and identify distinctive opportunities to launch social enterprises that support service growth and organizational sustainability. In addition, the Associate Director will work to mobilize capital resources to support these efforts.

IPPF/WHR is a recognized leader in the international movement to ensure access to sexual and reproductive health care as a human right for all. We work with local organizations in 39 countries in the Americas and the Caribbean, providing nearly 33 million services a year and working to secure government policies that improve people's lives.
IPPF/WHR pioneered the introduction of family planning services in Latin America and the Caribbean. We developed innovative and effective strategies for meeting the sexual and reproductive health needs of women, men, and young people in the region. IPPF/ WHR continues to respond to the tremendous need for contraceptive services, while also addressing a range of issues that have an impact on sexual and reproductive health, such as HIV/AIDS, gender-based violence, and unsafe abortion. BACKGROUND
Given the continued decline in international funding sources in the Latin America and Caribbean region, it is becoming increasingly important that local NGOs have the capacity to develop local income sources and plan to become less dependent on grant funding.  In order to achieve financial independence, it is vital that these NGOs develop and strengthen social enterprise business models and, when relevant, realign and strengthen their organizational structure in order to operate in a more efficient and profitable manner, subsequently and simultaneously enabling service growth and subsidization of services which promote a social mission of serving poor and marginalized populations.
The local NGOs themselves have recognized the importance of making a shift toward greater self-sustainability and institutional stability, and are requesting support to establish sound business plans and develop lines of business to generate income and allow for the cross-subsidization of services, and support the strengthening of their internal structures. 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Associate Director of Social Enterprise and Business Strategy reports to the Director of Institutional Development and manages the Health Financing Specialist, based in Mexico City. The Associate Director of Social Enterprise and Business Strategy will carry out the following responsibilities: 
Social Enterprise Model Development (70%)
The Associate Director will be responsible for building the capacity of the Regional Office and Member Associations in the development and implementation of social enterprise business models that drive the expansion of sexual and reproductive health services in Latin America and the Caribbean while promoting financial sustainability of the local NGOs.  This focus will include the following responsibilities:
  • Develop an overall social enterprise strategy and implementation plan, identifying innovative but viable business models that enable local NGOs to roll out new service delivery models and expand existing service offering. 
  • Work with the Health Financing Specialist to support implementation of business models on a local level with the NGOs; this effort will not only focus on supporting models that  contribute to the achievement of programmatic growth objectives but will also promote a regional alignment with an IPPF Global initiative focused on the implementation of social enterprise models.
  • Cultivate and foster partnerships with regionally focused technical assistance providers with expertise in social enterprise business models to offer support with project implementation when relevant.
  • Assist in mobilizing resources to support these efforts.
Networking, Global Partnership Engagement and Communication (30%)
  • Support local NGOs to establish, expand and effectively manage public-private sector partnerships and serve as the IPPF/WHR focal point on Social Enterprise and Public-Private partnerships.
  • Collaborate effectively and proactively with other programmatic areas, including Service Growth and Quality, Youth, Abortion, Advocacy to maximize the impact of current programmatic interventions.
  • Stay abreast of new developments in the social enterprise global health sphere and continually network to support innovation within IPPFs social enterprise work.
  • Participate on behalf of the Regional Office in external meetings, conferences and workshops as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • An MBA or a Master’s degree in a relevant field, including Social Enterprise, International Development, Health Economics, or Health Planning and Financing;
  • At least 10 - 15 years of experience working in social enterprise management, public health, health financing, business strategy or related area. Experience should include experience with social enterprise strategies on an international scale;
  • Proven ability to work with and analyze both service level and financial data in strategy development and performance evaluation;
  • Strong communications skills (speaking, writing, editing, and listening); with attention to detail and broad strategy and experience communicating to different audiences;
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, problem solve effectively and work on multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Ability and experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with people, internally and externally, from a wide-variety of types of organizations, cultural backgrounds, and functional expertise;
  • Advanced oral and written skills In Spanish and English required, Portuguese a plus.
  • Experience working In Latin America and the Caribbean a plus.
LOCATION: This position is based in Mexico City with some travel required within the Region, about 20% of time.
SALARY: $100,000 and excellent benefits package

MADRE seeks an experienced development professional with a strong track record of securing both private and public funds to oversee all aspects of its fundraising. This position works with both MADRE staff and board, reporting to the Executive Director (ED).
The Development Director is responsible with the ED for raising the organization's annual budget of $3 million. This is to be achieved through providing strategic leadership, work product and supervision to staff who report to the Development Director. The position entails supervising MADRE’s development team in all aspects of fundraising, including prospecting new donors, grant writing, reporting, and stewarding relationships with funders.
The ideal candidate has the ability to lead staff in fundraising strategies, including leveraging strong contacts with funding institutions, and be an integral part of a successful, growing organization. Importantly, the ideal candidate has the ability to work independently and take initiative while providing leadership, management and strategic direction to MADRE’s development staff. The Development Director is responsible for foundation, corporate and individual fundraising, working with the ED, who will orient and provide direction. Responsibilities include:
  • Secure financial support from, and develop strategic relationships with, institutional donors, including foundations and corporations, and begin efforts to tap investment capital;
  • Lead the stewardship of our long-term donors, and ensure they receive timely reports and new requests for funding;
  • In coordination with the ED, develop and coordinate a major individual donor program;
  • Develop and execute an overall organizational fundraising strategy, including benchmarks for progress and needed systems and tools to implement priorities;
  • Build and supervise a team of staff/consultants to achieve fundraising goals, including research, pipeline tracking, and execution of proposals, reports, and written communication;
  • Identify new funding opportunities and donor prospects; 
  • Oversee the development of high quality proposals that meet donor requirements;
  • Strengthen MADRE’s capacity to compete for funding calls in coordination with relevant stakeholders;
  • Work w/ ED and Bookkeeper to ensure that all proposal submissions include budgets that adequately cover costs;
  • Work closely with staff to develop and present ideas to potential donors;
  • Work closely with staff to ensure fundraising goals are aligned with program goals;
  • Analyze development data and reports on a quarterly basis to ensure our best efforts are invested in areas that yield high results; 
  • And, other duties as assigned by the ED.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum 8-10 years non-profit development experience;
  • Proven ability to raise an annual budget on par with MADRE’s and cultivate new donors; 
  • Experience working with both foundations and private donors strongly preferred; 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior writing skills and the ability to effectively manage a variety of relationships;
  • Proven supervision and management skills and ability to negotiate effectively with donors and partners;
  • Experience with strategic planning;
  • Strong critical thinking, research, and analytical skills;
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time and meet deadlines, and proven ability to work under pressure; 
  • Strong knowledge of current trends in charitable giving; 
  • Expertise in the content of MADRE’s work and familiarity with the International Women’s Human Rights movement and its allies preferred.

Duties
The Alice Paul Center fosters cutting-edge research on women, gender, and sexuality across the disciplines. The Center offers graduate and faculty fellowships, hosts a number of seminar series, and sponsors three named lectureships annually which bring prominent academic, literary, and public figures to campus.
The Alice Paul Center (APC) is currently seeking an Associate Director. The Associate Director works closely with the Director and Co-Director of the program and center to develop and strengthen the GSWS faculty research side of the GSWS program. S/he works in collaboration with SAS Corporate and Foundation Relations to identify relevant grant opportunities and communicate those opportunities to GSWS faculty in the Center. S/he will research relevant topic areas in support of the goals of the center and generate written reports around those topic areas for the Director and assist with other aspects of programmatic grant writing. S/he, in collaboration with the SAS Regional Business Office, facilitates and supports all administrative aspects of grant submissions for faculty associated with the Center, assists in organizing and running programs that such grants might fund, and will help the Center serve as a clearing house through which faculty can run their own grant programs. Additionally, s/he helps to plan and implement relevant programs, events, workshops and conferences for Penn students, faculty, and staff, as well as the broader community. The Associate Director may be asked to teach one course per year at the discretion of the director and thus should be qualified to teach such courses. The Associate Director of APC also serves as a liaison with the Penn Women’s Center, the LGBT Center, the Greenfield Intercultural Center, and other student and faculty organizations and centers, as well as with departments and schools across the University, in keeping with the focus ofGSWS and APC on global feminism and LGBT/sexuality studies. S/he also may be asked to supervise and update the program’s website, help design and plan event publicity, and oversee the use of new media to enhance outreach to our multiple communities. It is preferred that the successful candidate should have a PhD or equivalent degree, considerable academic and/or practical experience in women’s, gender, and sexuality studies, demonstrate some success with grant research and administration, and be able to work with a wide diversity of faculty and students in developing and implementing long-term plans for the Alice Paul Center.
Qualifications
This position requires strong academic credentials with a focus on Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies preferred but not necessary. A Ph.D. or equivalent degree is strongly preferred. Prior experience working for a University-affiliated Center for the study of Gender, Sexuality, and Women preferred. Experience with grants, conference organizing, new media outreach, and event publicity is a plus. Applicants should submit a cover letter with the application and C.V. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Gender Lead will be responsible for advising on gender programming and supporting key aspects of project implementation. S/he will ensure that gender-related project outcomes and indicators are being achieved and where not, that programming and activities are adapted as necessary. S/he will establish and maintain positive, collaborative and productive relationships with EQWIP staff and implementing partners.
EQWIP is building a team of energetic, skilled and passionate individuals who are motivated by the prospect of exploring new and creative approaches to solving complex global challenges.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide leadership in ensuring gender considerations are integrated into all aspects of programming
  • Provide strategic, operational and representational assistance to ensure that goals and targets are being met, recommending project adjustments when necessary to keep the project on track
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with local partner organizations and ensure that implementation is responsive to the needs and contexts of partners and beneficiaries
  • Track and report project progress and activities monthly against work plans
  • Identify and analyze gender issues as well as develop strategies for integrating and mainstreaming gender equality into programming
  • Provide technical support on gender issues and undertake on-the-job training and technical assistance to all partners
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of youth livelihood issues and a general understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing young people, and especially young women, across countries of operation
  • Assist implementing partners and country teams to analyze the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of existing gender equality programming, to identify gaps, challenges and opportunities
  • Develop, in cooperation with partners and country teams, strategies for each HUB to address the gaps identified in the initial analysis.
  • Support the collection and analysis of sex- and age-disaggregated data and building capacity of partners and country teams in gender sensitive programming
  • Facilitate the inclusion of gender dimensions into needs assessment frameworks and facilitate partners and country teams in planning and implementation of the project activities
  • Provide technical support in the development of relevant advocacy and communication/information materials to address gender equality issues, including support to country management
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5 – 10 years of progressively responsible experience in women-specific and gender issues, gender planning, gender analysis, gender mainstreaming and promotion of gender equality at national and regional levels
  • Education in social sciences, women and gender studies, or related humanities field with a focus on gender equality and women’s rights/empowerment
  • Knowledge, expertise and experience relating to integrating gender equality considerations into youth livelihood programming
  • Strong knowledge of trends, discourse, policy issues and technical experience in areas of gender and development and gender and livelihoods
  • Experience working with government, donors, and civil society
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in collaborative, cross sector environments to facilitate conversations or solve problems among individuals with diverse perspectives
  • A passion and interest in developing, supporting and improving gender equality and considerations in youth focused programming
  • Familiarity with current trends in youth livelihoods programming
  • Enthusiasm for innovating and finding new or improved ways of working
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work with deadlines and attend to projects and work processes

GENERAL TRAINING OBJECTIVE
The objective of the internship program with OSI’s Open Society Justice Initiative is to train participants on some of the methodologies used by public interest advocacy groups like OSI to foster and encourage reform, inclusion, human rights, and the building of legal capacity for open societies.
SPECIFIC TRAINING OBJECTIVES
Interns will be instructed, and receive hands-on training, on many of the broad range of activities involved in effectuating reform, human rights, and the building of legal capacity for open societies, including but not limited to, the identification of an injustice to be remedied, the formulation of a comprehensive action plan, and the research and writing involved in research memoranda, reports and studies associated with a project.  The interns will receive their training in the context of the Open Society Justice Initiative.
With close supervision by an assigned mentor, interns will learn about the various tools available for researching issues, for engaging in oral and written persuasive techniques, and for drafting reports and legal memoranda related to human rights related initiatives, like the Open Society Justice Initiative.  They will acquire knowledge and read about issues related to anticorruption, national criminal justice reform (specifically pre-trial detention, access to justice, and safety, security and accountability), legal capacity development, freedom of expression and information, equality and citizenship, national security and/or international justice.  They will receive hands-on writing experience by, among other things, assisting OSI in drafting both legal and non-legal memoranda and drafting reports.  They will receive research and analysis experience by assisting OSI in researching assigned topics through the Internet, Lexis/Nexis, foreign source materials, academic studies, oral interviews of experts, Library of Congress materials, and legal and political documents, and by analyzing related topic material.  Interns also will receive real time training on the dialogues and other communications that are required in human interest initiatives like the Program by, among other things, assisting in drafting of related correspondence, print material and website content, participating in conference calls, and attending relevant meetings hosted by think tanks and government and non-government agencies.
CANDIDATES SOUGHT
For this internship program, OSF is seeking individuals currently enrolled in a relevant law school program who are highly motivated and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors.  The ideal candidates will have strong communication, interpersonal and computer skills, a demonstrated ability to write effectively and analyze and summarize complex information, and a desire to function in a team environment.  They also must be able to multi-task while remaining attentive to detail.
Upon acceptance, interns will need to provide a letter from their university indicating that they are receiving credit and/or funding for the internship.
DURATION OF INTERNSHIP:  June – August
HOURS PER WEEK:  40 hours/week
COMPENSATION:  Unpaid, lunch provided.

Trust Women is a dynamic, emerging non-profit that focuses on facilitating reproductive freedom in the Midwest and the South. Founded by Julie Burkhart in memory of her dear friend and mentor, the late Dr. George Tiller, Trust Women seeks to honor his life's work by bringing direct services to the middle of the country, as well as addressing issues of access with a reproductive justice perspective through opening reproductive health clinics, educational and community outreach, as well as political advocacy.
We are seeking motivated, take-charge interns who aren't afraid to take the reins and make their own path. To become a Trust Women intern, applicants must be hard-working and dedicated, with a passion for reproductive justice and openness to learning. In turn, interns will be provided with the opportunity to make a lasting impact on an organization that is making historical gains in an area of the country in need of innovative and adventurous organizing. (We also provide class credit!)
Virtual & Traditional Internships
Because we focus on advocacy in the middle of the country, we understand, more than anyone, the importance of remote organizing, which is why we offer a virtual internship option. Virtual interns are required to work a minimum of 10 hours a week in addition to participating in weekly intern Google Hangouts. During their 10 hours, interns must make themselves available to their supervisor and do regular check-ins. We try to structure our virtual internships in such a way that our interns are able to have a fulfilling and educational experience, with the flexibility of working from miles away.
Trust Women also offers traditional in-house internships for interns local to the Wichita, Kansas metro area, as well as interns from outside the area who are able to relocate for the summer. We will also offer home stay arrangements for interns who relocate from outside the metro area. Local interns must work a minimum of 10 hours. Interns with home stay arrangements will be expected to work a minimum of 20 hours.
Duties & Requirements 
 Attend important votes and hearings as schedule permits
 Update list of legislators and position on choice
 Track choice related legislation on the federal and state level
 Assist Trust Women lobbyist as necessary
 Assist Communications Team with legislative updates for weekly blogs/emails
 Maintain legislative scorecard through tracking of legislation
 Participate in coalition calls and meetings in Oklahoma or Kansas as needed
Requirements
 Knowledge of Oklahoma or Kansas state government, particularly the legislative process
 Ability to read and summarize bills
 Be able to attend important votes and hearings as much as possible
 Preference will be given to candidates with political science or legal education or training
 Strong written and spoken communication skills
 Self-motivated and directed
 Able to work on multiple projects at a time
 Ability to meet deadlines and new challenges as they arise
 Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products
 Ability to navigate state and federal legislative websites
 Kansas legislative intern will need to live in Kansas, preferably within travel distance of Topeka.
 Oklahoma legislative intern will need to live in Oklahoma, preferably within travel distance of Oklahoma City.
 Virtual legislative intern can work from anywhere.
