Executive Assistant & Development Associate
JWF has an exciting opportunity for an individual who is organized, detail-oriented, and responsible to support the Chief Executive Officer's daily activities and the fundraising efforts of this rapidly growing organization. The ideal candidate will be energetic, highly motivated, a self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, a problem-solver, and a person who can prioritize workload. The individual must also have excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Executive Support
  • Manage Chief Executive Officer's calendar, scheduling and confirming appointments and coordinating travel arrangements;
  • Support Chief Executive Officer's preparation for meetings;
  • Work with other staff to coordinate Chief Executive Officer's speaking engagements;
  • Assist in preparation for Board meetings and take minutes at Board meetings and relevant committee meetings;
  • Take, transcribe and disseminate meeting notes;
  • Perform all bookkeeping functions, utilizing Quick Books, including preparing expense reports and reimbursements, in a timely fashion;
  • Assist with special projects in conjunction with Chief Executive Officer;
  • Provide other assistance as needed.
Development Support
Donor Relations:
  • Track progress on annual fundraising goals;
  • Ensure all donors receive timely acknowledgment letters;
  • Maintain and update information about donors in Donor Perfect;
  • Maintain systems for tracking relationships with prospective and current individual donors;
  • Ensure Board and Trustees are informed of donations from their contacts;
  • Coordinate outreach, invitations, RSVP tracking and follow-up from donor events;
  • Coordinate mailings and emails including end-of-year campaign and major events;
Donor Research:
  • Research prospective individual supporters, creating profiles for top prospects;
  • Create briefing documents in preparation for all face-to-face donor and prospect meetings as well as cultivation events;
Communications:
  • Update and maintain JWF's website with upcoming events and news;
  • Ensure organizational informational packets are well presented, and communications collateral material is kept up to date and stocked;
  • Lay out organizational emails and mailings;
  • Maintain email/mailing lists and ensure up to date contact information for all stakeholders.
Competencies and Qualifications
  • Passion for JWF's mission.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Comfort working in a growing organization, including performing a wide variety of functions, multi-tasking and meeting required deadlines;
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness, optimism, problem solving and flexibility;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Strong data and database management skills, ability to create and run reports, manage and interpret data (proficiency with Excel needed, proficiency with Donor Perfect and QuickBooks needed);
  • Knowledge of the American Jewish community and/or the not for profit sector, gender issues, and the State of Israel is a plus.
  • Ability to work some evenings and occasional weekends;
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience;
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Florida (ACLU-FL) seeks a full-time, temporary Campaign Coordinator to staff the Justice for Jacksonville Coalition. The goal of the Coalition is to reduce death sentences in the 4th Judicial District (Jacksonville/Duval County). The ACLU of Florida convened the Coalition and seeks to support and expand its work through this position. The position is based in the ACLU of Florida's Northeast Regional Office in Jacksonville. The Campaign Coordinator will report to the ACLU of Florida's Director of Public Policy. This is a one year position that will end in January 2016.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
  • Design and implement grassroots and grasstop strategies to mobilize supporters to take meaningful action to reduce the disproportionately high number of death sentences in the 4th Judicial District;
  • Undertake coordination of, expand, and provide support to the Justice for Jacksonville Coalition which operates in four primary areas – communications, public education and outreach; policy advocacy; and research.
  • Recruit, mentor and develop local individual, political, and organizational leaders as possible participants, representatives, and spokespersons for the Coalition and to support Coalition work to reduce death sentencing in the 4th Judicial district;
  • In collaboration with the ACLU-FL Communications Department, develop and disseminate public education materials including fact sheets about death penalty practices specific to the region via media, social media, and at events and meetings;
  • Organize regional public education and public policy events and activities to advocate for a reduction in death sentencing in the 4th Judicial District;
  • Engage ACLU members and supporters to advocate to reduce death sentencing in the 4th Judicial District through community forums, public hearings, panel discussions, phone banks, movie screenings, training for activists, and other activities;
  • Develop effective outreach techniques and tailor them to specific target groups, including communities of color, ethnic minorities in the region, religious groups, victim's families and advocates, community leaders, and law enforcement to encourage education, involvement, and engagement in Coalition work;
  • Public speaking on behalf of the Coalition;
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned and consistent with the goals of this position and the work of the Coalition.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of three years' experience with issue advocacy, preferably in the criminal justice field, which should include familiarity with grassroots and grasstop organizing, strategically identifying and targeting decision makers, identifying and developing influential spokespeople, and leveraging community and political power to effect policy change;
  • Demonstrated commitment to civil liberties and civil rights and the mission of the ACLU;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and familiarity with social media networking;
  • Ability to keep organized in a fast-paced environment and to manage several tasks simultaneously;
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher);
  • Experience and skills in public speaking;
  • Experience in supervising and motivating volunteers; working cooperatively with diverse groups and organizations;
  • Ability to stimulate and inspire others;
  • Ability to attend evening and weekend meetings, and to travel throughout Duval County; must have own transportation;
  • Fluency in Spanish is desired, but not required.

Americans for Immigrant Justice (AI Justice – formerly FIAC), a not-for-profit law firm founded in 1996 to protect and promote the basic human rights of immigrants, has a multicultural and a multilingual staff. AI Justice has represented clients from around the world and is recognized as a powerful advocate and national leader for immigrants' rights. AI Justice works closely with traditional civil rights organizations as well as with grassroots organizations and local, state and national government officials to effect positive change in immigration policies. 
POSITION AVAILABLE
Grant Manager will be responsible for securing and raising revenue support from foundations, corporations, and government sources. This includes providing compliance and reporting management of programs funded by federal, state, and private funds.
GM will work collaboratively with personnel to report mandates and serve as a liaison on issues regarding grants and proposals. GM must work closely with staff in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals and interact with constituencies involved in grant-funding activities.
GM needs to be proficient in the use spreadsheets and databases and demonstrate the ability to interpret complex grant funding requirements and budget plans. GM will be accountable for interpreting federal, state, and local government laws and regulations regarding grant administration. Will require ability to review the work of others to ensure conformance to standards and to communicate effectively across a broad spectrum of staff, both orally and in writing.
Education: University degree preferred

DESCRIPTION

The employment counselor will coordinate an employment program for women reentering the community after incarceration. The employment counselor will facilitate a 12-week workforce preparation program that includes classroom training, development of individual employment plans with women, creation of relationships with employers, and job placements and support. This is a high-profile position in the community.

WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Human Resources Management, Social Work, Women's Studies, or related field preferred, and a minimum of two years of experience in non-profit social services required. A Master's Degree with at least 1 year non-profit social services experience is also applicable. Experience working with women, drug and alcohol abuse, ex-offenders, or low-income individuals is preferred, plus community relationship building skills and proficiency in computer programs such as Word, Excel, Publisher, and the Internet.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

The Employment Counselor is a self-starter who is empathic and has a positive outlook. She has effective communication, persuasion, and assessment skills; excellent organizational and time management skills; the ability to manage multiple priorities; and group facilitation skills. The Employment Counselor expresses a willingness to be a productive team member, and has a heightened awareness of feminism and sensitivity to the societal issues women face.

DESCRIPTION

The Women's Center of Jacksonville's Rape Recovery Team has an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong interest in supervising a dynamic sexual assault victim advocacy program. The Rape Recovery Team serves adult and teen sexual assault victims (reported and unreported) and their loved ones 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through crisis counseling, advocacy, information and referral, outreach support, and hotline services. This program has experienced solid growth since its inception in 1997 and continues to be in a state of creative expansion. The position oversees several programs within the Rape Recovery Team: 24/7 On Call Advocacy, Primary Prevention Education, Stop Sexual Violence Against Elders, and Baker County Victim Advocacy Rural Grant and Program Coordination. 


WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
The position requires an individual that possesses prior non-profit experience in program development, staff and volunteer supervision, grants management, budget management, community organizing skills, proficiency in Microsoft computer programs, crisis intervention experience, the ability to work with adults and teens, and the ability to participate in occasional 24/7 pager rotation. 

A MSW or MA in Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Public Administration, Non-profit Management, or a related area is preferred. Four years experience in management and direct service is preferred. Experience in sexual assault or domestic violence programs is a plus. A BA or BS will be considered if the application has 6+ years of management, program development, and direct service experience. Awareness of feminism and sensitivity to the societal issues of women is preferred. The Women's Center of Jacksonville embraces diversity in the workplace.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of sexual violence issues and the ability to handle multiple priorities, deliver group presentations, interact successfully with diverse populations, effectively manage the program, and effectively communicate with law enforcement and other community agencies. 

This is a full-time position with benefits. 


Salary Range: $18.00-$20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and education.
