NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado is seeking a campus organizer for the Auraria Campus in Denver, CO. Applicants should have a passion for reproductive choice, strong communication skills and an interest in grassroots organizing in a higher education environment. Experience in student organizing, student government, social justice or community organizing is strongly preferred.
Reporting directly to the Political and Organizing Director, the Campus Organizer is responsible for engaging and educating students around pro-choice issues, including but not limited to pro-choice candidates and voting no on this fall's anti-abortion, anti-birth control ballot measure. This individual will also be in charge of developing a group of leaders from the student body, a volunteer base, and good relationships with existing student organizations.
Auraria campus has a population of 46,000 students representing many different backgrounds. The campus is comprised of three higher education institutions: Metropolitan State University, University of Colorado-Denver, and the Community College of Denver. The Auraria Higher Education Center provides shared services to all of these institutions. NARAL does not have an established student group on the Auraria campus, but does enjoy a strong relationship with the Women Studies' Center of Metropolitan State University.
JOB ACTIVITIES
  • Recruit, train, and motivate students in organizing and advocacy around NARAL and on-campus campaigns
  • Leadership development of students through specific issue and skills trainings
  • On-campus presentations about NARAL and No on 67 events, policy issues, activities, and services
  • Based on affiliate goals, recruit students to NARAL election activities to defeat Amendment 67 and maintain pro-choice majority in both houses of the Colorado state legislature
  • Work with NARAL staff to support other affiliate campaigns and goals
  • Data entry and data management including tracking all events and volunteer activity in the VAN
  • Aid in the coordination of media outreach and publicity events to build awareness and support on campus using both social and traditional media
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with administrators, faculty, student leaders, student organizations, and the Auraria campus community at large
  • Provide tangible support to the affiliate and the NARAL network in the form of list growth, membership recruitment, media visibility and direct action takers on issues and candidates.
  • Build a leadership pipeline and activist network on this campus as a way to recruit new members into the NARAL family
  • Some travel required to events in Denver Metro area. Occasional travel to outside Denver Metro area possible
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Grassroots organizing experience
  • Strong track record of setting and meeting goals

  • Available to work weekday evenings and weekends; willingness to work nontraditional hours
  • Independently driven and able to produce quality work without constant supervision
  • Experience with and ability to work within diverse and underrepresented communities

  • Experience conducting trainings and/or workshops
  • Experience with electoral work preferred, but not required

SALARY & BENEFITS

SUMMARY
The Executive Director is responsible for providing organizational leadership to achieve the mission and vision of Out Boulder, to include ensuring the long-term sustainability of Out Boulder. The Executive Director must work closely with the Out Boulder staff and the Board of Directors to achieve the goals of the organization. In addition to responsibilities for the operational, financial and programmatic health of Out Boulder, the Executive Director will play a primary and critical role in pursuing an ambitious fundraising agenda to strengthen and increase the organization's programs and capacity-building efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES
40 - 50% Development (primary role)
• Raise sufficient revenue to meet annual expenses with an eye toward increasing revenues for the organization.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that encompasses Special Events, major donor cultivation, corporate sponsorship, and grant writing.
• Create detailed, realistic annual budgets and monitor revenue and expenses throughout the year in partnership with the Treasurer, reporting to board on a quarterly basis.
20 - 25% Community Relations (primary role)
• Create and maintain strong community connections through strategic alliances and outreach within the community, including to other non-profits and local businesses.
• Serve as primary media contact for the organization and provide direction on messaging.
• Oversee organization's response to significant happenings of importance to the LGBTQ community.
15 - 20% Programs (oversight role)
• Ensure that all programs, including Community Events, maintain consistency with the vision and mission of Out Boulder
• Create and implement a 5-year strategic plan, in partnership with the board, monitoring the organization's short- and long-term goals and objectives.
• Support OB's programs by working closely with staff members and contractors to help develop and achieve program goals.
• Support the development of yearly planning with staff and board.
5 – 10% Communications / Marketing (oversight role)
• Work with staff to develop a cohesive marketing plan that includes consistent strategic messaging.
• Oversee Marketing Manager in the development and execution of external communications.
5 - 10% Human Resources (board and staff support and oversight) (primary role)
• Supervise staff—includes hiring, managing performance, conducting annual performance evaluations and salary reviews.
• Meet with staff on a regular basis to provide clear direction, review performance, and benchmark successes and opportunities.
• Support the operations and administration of the Board of Directors, to include: assisting in Board development; advising and informing Board members; attending board meetings; interfacing between Board and staff; and supporting Board's evaluation of the Executive Director.
• Oversee key volunteers, meeting with them regularly and providing direction, training, and evaluation.
QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS (Masters preferred) or a minimum of four years equivalent. Computer proficiency required, includes Microsoft Office, GiftWorks, QuickBooks, and Google products. Bilingual Spanish skills a plus.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Uphold the mission, values, and expectations of GALS with all students and families
· Promptly greet all visitors to the school and take care of their needs to the best of his/her ability in a friendly and professional manner
· Maintain a welcoming environment and physical appearance of the front office and hallway of the school
· Manage school security systems and approve school access to visitors
· Manage faxes, letters, district mail, mailings, translation, etc. on an at-needs basis
· Manage all school "autodials" and incoming phone calls
· Perform all written and verbal translations
· Manage planned substitute teacher requests (teachers manage last-minute requests)
· Maintain inventory and supplies for Teacher Supply Closet
· Maintain inventory and supplies for the School Store, when applicable
· Inventory shipments against packing lists to be turned in to Central Office
· Ensure accurate student attendance records for the school as well as for the district (in support of the Office Assistant)
· Maintain attendance records in IC for all grades
· Enforce attendance and tardiness policies.
· Support school enrollment policies and procedures following district and school guidelines
· Manage October Count procedures and data reporting, with School Manager
· Assist with, and translate, all written parent communication on behalf of the school
· Maintain up-to-date and accurate student records
· Assist in scheduling of meetings and organize incoming student paperwork for GALS enrollment
· Manage money collection procedures and student payments
· Inventory and sell GALS gear
· Organize registration paperwork and maintain current student records in IC
· Communicate messages to students in person or via the GALS message board
· Help coordinate use of office space for events, parent meetings, student testing, counseling groups, board meetings, other classes and Special Education Team needs
· Assist the GALS administrative team with the scheduling of parent meetings and provide translation support in meetings as necessary
· Administer first aid and medications to students according to school and district standards
· Coordinate GALS' after-school activity offerings, including communicating with vendors and families, handling registration and payment, and monitoring classes
· Managing after-school dismissal and pick-up procedures
· Participate in weekly office check-ins with the School Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is accountable to and under the direct supervision of the Shelter Program Director. The Shelter Bilingual Advocate is responsible for provision of crisis intervention, support and domestic violence education; administrative duties; and case management for monolingual Spanish speaking women and children and English speaking women in Shelter.

POSITION STATUS: Exempt, three-quarter time M-F days with one evening required. If needed, other nights or an occasional overnight or weekend shift may be required.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position functions as part of a team. Areas of responsibility may fluctuate or change. Other duties may be assigned depending on the needs of the organization. Specific duties shall include, but are not limited to:

1. Provide Case Management to Safe Shelter Clients
• Maintain a client caseload by providing intervention and continuing follow-up for Spanish speaking women while they are at shelter.
• Provide individual support; assist in development of an Action Plan, maintain progress notes, and provide client advocacy with a wide variety of community agencies.
• Provide Case management for monolingual Spanish speaking women and children who are residing in Shelter
• On a daily basis, assist clients with adjustment to Shelter living; respond to their needs for assistance and basic needs; and support clients in reaching goals.
• Share case management of adult residential woman with the Shelter Director.

2. Provide Safe Shelter Services:
• Provide Spanish/English interpreting on the phone and in person.
• Complete Shelter paperwork and statistical input.
• Answer phones; take crisis calls; provide advocacy, information, and referrals to callers; and screen shelter admissions.
• Carry the Spanish back-up line.
• Assist in Shelter program development specific to the needs of the Latina residents
• Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and team meetings.
• Exit clients, voluntary and involuntary, and refer clients to Outreach services as appropriate.
• Be available and accessible to clients.

3. Other Duties:
• Help maintain a safe and secure environment for all clients.
• Continually identify enhancements to service access and delivery
• Assist in creating and achieving goals and objectives as required by grants.
• Submit statistical data in an accurate and timely manner
• Provide public speaking and education to the community at large, as needed
• Assist in the training of new staff, volunteers, and interns, as requested
• Participate in fundraiser and special events preparation, assistance, and attendance throughout the year.
• Prepare rooms for new clients when necessary.
• Assist in Shelter maintenance and repair.
• Other duties as assigned.

General Qualifications:
• Knowledge and understanding of the physical, psychological, and sociological issues involved in domestic violence. 
• Demonstrated experience in crisis intervention, individual and group counseling.
• Speak, comprehend, read and write Spanish and English fluently
• Thorough understanding of Latino culture and issues related to Latina women and domestic violence.
• Computer skills -- familiar with Windows and Microsoft programs.
• Ability to regularly use discretion and independent thinking/decision making. 
• Work independently and as part of a team. 
• Must possess a valid driver's license and a telephone.

Educational Qualifications:
Degree in counseling or related field, plus a minimum of two years work experience in human service delivery programs or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
