Who is Girls Who Code? 

Launched in Spring 2012, Girls Who Code is a national nonprofit organization working to close the gender gap in the technology and engineering sectors. With support from companies like Twitter, Facebook, Google, Intel, Adobe, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, and AT&T, Girls Who Code works to educate, inspire, and equip girls with the skills and resources to pursue computing careers.

Together with leading educators, engineers, and entrepreneurs, Girls Who Code has developed a new model for computer science education, pairing intensive instruction in robotics, web design, and mobile development with high-touch mentorship led by the industry's top female developers and entrepreneurs. In 2013, Girls Who Code launched 8 Summer Immersion Programs, and 42 Girls Who Code Clubs nationwide. In 2014, we have expanded our proven Summer Immersion Program to 19 programs nationwide, and dramatically scaled the Girls Who Code Clubs program across the country. We are committed to further scaling our programs and impact in 2015.

Brief Job Summary

Girls Who Code is searching for a detail and results-oriented Operations Manager to support Girls Who Code's growth.The Operations Manager reports directly to Senior Management and is responsible for administrative tasks, including human resources, finance and IT support.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Overseeing various data entry and data analysis projects
  • Creating and maintaining accurate electronic and paper files and documents
  • Providing support to Senior Management, Program Managers, and Lead Teachers on assigned special projects including:
  1. Track and analyze student enrollment, retention, and achievement data
  2. Creating and producing value-added detailed reports (using various database management systems and MS Excel) from raw data to identify program performance
  3. Assure data standardization, integrity of data and operational accuracy of reporting systems
  4. Finance and Administration (A/P, A/R, and budgeting)Human Resources (recruiting, payroll, orientation and training)
  5. Facilitating distribution and collection of required documents and reports for both office projects and program sites
  6. Timely and accurate completion of official forms required for invoicing and payroll
  7. Providing remote and on-site support or management to GWC programs
  8. Data entry and Salesforce support

Minimum Requirements 

Bachelor's degree, 3-5 years of professional work experience, must be proficient with Microsoft Office (particularly MS Excel and Word); must be able to work independently with minimal supervision within the context of a larger team; and must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Habitat for Humanity - Metro West/Greater Worcester (HFH-MWGW) is an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. We are a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. HFH-MWGW serves 42 towns and cities in the Greater Worcester and MetroWest Communities. Headquartered in Worcester Massachusetts, HFH-MWGW is an independent 501 (c) 3 organization affiliated with Habitat for Humanity International.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This part-time position (28 hours per week) is responsible for assisting the affiliate in maintaining efficient and effective office operations.
  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, staff and volunteer committees
  • Host Site Manager in charge of overseeing 2-3 AmeriCorps members
  • Assist with weekly data entry into GiftWorks (donor software) & resulting thank you letters
  • Maintain updates on affiliate's web site through the use of Wordpress
  • Answer office phone inquiries, general correspondence and telephone requests
  • Maintain office machines, supplies, key databases and filing systems
  • Coordinate printing and mailing of semi-annual appeal letters
  • Other duties as requested
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Excellent computer skills, specific knowledge of MS Office applications; familiarity with database programs a plus
  • Well organized, good team leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong spelling and editing capabilities
  • An ability to work occasional flexible hours
  • An understanding of and a belief in, the mission of Habitat for Humanity.

Ever wish you could get more involved in making women's words matter in the media? Well, we've got a great way to do just that. We're in the process of hiring WAM! INTERNS for Summer and Fall 2013. Could it be you or someone you know?
Help us create gender justice in media by joining the crack team at WAM!Central. Specifically, we're looking for folks who want to do several or all of the following:
  • Support our WAM!Chapters, and connect our Women, Action & the Media (WAM!) programs to new communities
  • Blog about gender & media issues on our website
  • Solicit new businesses and organizations to offer great benefits to our members
  • Create video and other media that communicates our mission to key communities
  • Help develop & promote our new WAM!CAN Community Action Network
  • Gain crucial office skills
Good candidates must be willing to commit to 10-15 hours per week, including time for supervision. Fearless in the face of detail. Computer/internet savvy (Mac especially) very helpful.
