Who is Girls Who Code?

Brief Job Summary

Girls Who Code is searching for a detail and results-oriented Operations Manager to support Girls Who Code's growth.The Operations Manager reports directly to Senior Management and is responsible for administrative tasks, including human resources, finance and IT support.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Overseeing various data entry and data analysis projects
  • Creating and maintaining accurate electronic and paper files and documents
  • Providing support to Senior Management, Program Managers, and Lead Teachers on assigned special projects including:
  1. Track and analyze student enrollment, retention, and achievement data
  2. Creating and producing value-added detailed reports (using various database management systems and MS Excel) from raw data to identify program performance
  3. Assure data standardization, integrity of data and operational accuracy of reporting systems
  4. Finance and Administration (A/P, A/R, and budgeting)Human Resources (recruiting, payroll, orientation and training)
  5. Facilitating distribution and collection of required documents and reports for both office projects and program sites
  6. Timely and accurate completion of official forms required for invoicing and payroll
  7. Providing remote and on-site support or management to GWC programs
  8. Data entry and Salesforce support

Minimum Requirements 

Bachelor's degree, 3-5 years of professional work experience, must be proficient with Microsoft Office (particularly MS Excel and Word); must be able to work independently with minimal supervision within the context of a larger team; and must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Job Summary  

The Brown Center on Education Policy within the Governance Studies Program at the Brookings Institution is accepting applications for a Fellow with a strong background in quantitative research relevant to education policy. Under the supervision of the Director of the Brown Center, the Fellow will conduct research, writing, and outreach tasks related to his or her individual scholarship as well as to collaborative projects within the Brown Center. 

The Fellow will also raise money for research projects and interact with the media. The focus of the Brown Center is bringing the best evidence to bear on governmental decisions that affect policy and practice within the American education system from preschool to post secondary.

Qualifications  

The successful candidate will hold a PhD by December 30, 2015 in economics, public policy, psychology, political science, or a related discipline, or have completed all requirements for the PhD with the expectation that the candidate will obtain the PhD within six (6) months of starting at Brookings. He/she will have a record of publications based on quantitative research on topics of relevance to education policy, a history of involvement in projects funded through external grants, and evidence of communication skills suitable to the role of a public intellectual at Brookings.

A candidate may blend academic excellence with experience in the public, private, or academic sectors. The individual must have the ability to conduct state-of-the-art quantitative research, engage in outreach in order to affect public policy, and obtain grant funding. Salary will depend on the candidate's qualifications and experience, and will be commensurate with experience.

Who is WORC?

The Women's Opportunities Resource Center (WORC) is a nationally-recognized not-for-profit organization headquartered in Philadelphia that promotes social and economic self-sufficiency primarily for women, minorities, and dislocated workers. Its subsidiary, the Economic Opportunities Fund (EOF), is a certified CDFI which provides a wide range of financial products (microloans from $1,000 to $35,000). Our loan fund is capitalized at $1 million. To date, we have made a total of 435 direct loans totaling over $1.5 million. In addition, we have packaged 45 loans totaling more than $4.4 million as an intermediary for the SBA Prequalification Program. WORC was recently approved as an SBA microlender. 

Job Summary

Over the next two years, EOF looks to expand its market base and increase its loan volume and capital deployed. We are looking for a professional that is committed to meeting the needs of this underserved market, has demonstrated experience scaling a microenterprise organization and is comfortable with providing services to a diverse population. 


Responsibilities

  • Manages and grows the Direct Lending Program including staff and consultant supervision, program marketing, new product development, portfolio performance, asset/liability management, financial projections and assumptions, underwriting, loan servicing, collections, community partnerships and program evaluation.
  • Responsible for loan portfolio quality and performance. Ensures compliance with portfolio standards e.g. those PAR 90 days + is less than 12% and annual write-off below 9%. Implements and monitors credit risk program including risk rating as well as identifying, measuring, controlling, monitoring the risks with periodic reporting to senior management and Board.
  • Coordinates and plans the Advisory Council and Loan Committee meetings by setting the agenda, preparing reports and documents, conducting the meetings and recording the minutes.
  • Oversees training and TA services to ensure quality service and compliance with contract goals.
  • Responsible for grant compliance and reports as needed for funders, Advisory Council or Board of Directors.
  • Member of senior management team - develops and implements EOF business plan/marketing plan.
  • Fundraising and capitalization - writes grants and secures funding and assists with implementing WORC's overall fundraising strategy.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications 

A strong background in micro and small business financing is desired. Individual should have existing contacts with local financial and economic development providers. Management experience and 4-year degree is required. Experience with ACCION MMS is a plus.

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Manager, Institutional Partnerships strengthens and expands institutional fundraising efforts to increase revenue. This position works with outside foundations, the CEO, and program staff internally to manage a strategy for development of revenue in the program areas and to look for new sources of funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Maintain and expand support for the Ms. Foundation programs and initiatives, including prospecting, proposal and report writing, and relationship management
  • Work closely with program, communications, and advocacy staff to strategize on, develop content for, and execute development strategies for foundations
  • Manage the prospect portfolio and ensure that that cultivation and solicitation strategies are carried through by relevant staff and board
  • Track proposal and reporting deadlines and departmental performance against goals
  • Identify, research, and pursue new funding sources and supervise research staff towards this goal
  • Develop annual foundation fundraising strategies and forecasting in the assigned program areas, including the development of new initiatives as needed
  • Supervise and/or execute relevant grants administration, including participation in tracking grant financials and narrative and financial report preparation, as well as developing budgets, timelines and project deliverables
  • Participate in the update and maintenance of strong donor database records
  • Work with Major Donor staff on individual prospects for foundation or corporate gifts
  • Work with program and executive staff to communicate Development needs for proposals and working with the other departments to develop effective programs that will be attractive to funders
  • Develop a deep understanding of program content and organizational priorities to ensure integrity and quality of proposal writing
  • Manage an institutional funding calendar that includes an expanded slate of institutional funder opportunities
  • Develop briefings on the progress of the Ms. Foundation's programmatic initiatives for institutional funder updates and ongoing communications
  • Develop prospect lists and briefings for senior staff trips to new cities
  • Manage institutional communications and mailings
  • Travel for program and development-related activities as needed 

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in foundations/institutional grant writing and development
  • Proven experience in prospecting and growing new sources of revenue from foundations
  • College degree required
  • Ability to forecast revenue accurately
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to educate other staff on what is needed in programmatic outcomes
  • 3 years of experience working for a foundation
  • Demonstrated superior writing and organizational skills
  • Experience in managing and developing budgets for grant proposals
  • Superior Excel and Word skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn quickly, ask probing questions, and synthesize information from an array of sources
  • Ability to successfully execute multiple, simultaneous projects on time and with quality results
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and to work collaboratively

DESCRIPTION

The NAF Hotline Fund has immediate openings for Hotline Operators, both full- and part-time. Those who can offer services in Spanish or French are strongly encouraged to apply.

The NAF Hotline Fund is a 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to providing accurate, unbiased reproductive health care information to women from diverse backgrounds and to providing callers with confidential consultation and referrals to providers of quality abortion care. The Hotline Fund also provides case management services to women with special needs and limited financial assistance to subsidize care for low-income women. The Hotline provides services in English, Spanish, and French.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Hotline Operators provide callers with unbiased, factual information about pregnancy and abortion and referrals to providers of quality care. Hotline Operators ensure accurate assessment of eligibility for funding assistance and accurate and complete documentation for eligible women. Other duties include data entry assistance and administrative tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to a woman's right to choose abortion and understanding of women's complex social and financial situations. Candidates should also have excellent written and oral communications skills and be able to work cooperatively with women and their families, abortion providers, and staff. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree; and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and experience with databases. Proficiency in French and/or Spanish is preferred. Bachelor's degrees in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or entry level experience in counseling preferred.
