MORE / LESSDESCRIPTION

Young Women United (YWU) seeks vivacious leader who will fulfill my feminist, youth-centered, queer friendly, culturally diverse mission statement. You must be passionate about social justice and building community for young women of color in Albuquerque, well-endowed with organizational skills, and experienced with grassroots organizing. Can you collaborate with multiple community partners and ignite passion in others? Do you have a fetish for fundraising? Love to surround yourself with fabulous, fierce young women of color? If you are highly skilled in oral and written communication and have sound judgment on critical issues, then you have found your match! YWU seeks a visionary leader who isn't afraid to exercise control and assume the position... of Executive Director. I don't need you to promise forever, but I have my needs and will expect you to commit to our relationship for a minimum of three years. You'll be compensated in more ways than one!
Organization Summary
Young Women United is a community organizing group created by and for young women of color in Albuquerque. We come together to develop leadership, empower our communities, and take action to strengthen the health of our communities and families and reduce the violence around and against us. YWU engages our members, leaders, and activists in organizing for social justice, mind-body transformative practices, and movement building within local and national social justice movements.
YWU is member-led and centered around three sister circles: Circle of Strength for young women ages 13-19, Circle of Fire for women ages 19-35, and our Mamas Justice Collective for women interested in birthing justice and revolutionary parenting. Our change making work is focused on improving the access that young people have to quality health care, de-stigmatizing young families and building educational equality for pregnant and parenting teens, improving access to prenatal care and treatment for substance using pregnant women, ensuring that women of color and low-income women have access to a range of birthing options, and defending reproductive rights and building reproductive justice. The women and families most impacted by the issues are at the forefront of our community organizing efforts.
YWU is a family friendly, queer and trans inclusive space for self-identified women of color.
