Job Summary: The Beyond Jobs Job Developer assists women that are disadvantaged in preparation for employment or to advance or gain better employment, while maintaining up to date records on each program participant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintains a caseload of 25 - 75 participants that are engaged in job search activities and/or are receiving career advancement services.
- Assist participants in retaining employment for a minimum of 6 months.
- Review all pertinent referral data prior to scheduling intake to ensure vocational objective is clear and achievable.
- Determine the participant's likelihood to benefit from the program through completion of Intake Packet and Vocational Service Plan.
- Markets placement services to employers in the community and presents appropriate job leads to participants; will be responsible to contact businesses for job placement.
- Maintain close contact with service providers and participants while they are participating in all components of the Vocational Service Plan in order to ensure suitable progress and eventual success; weekly contact should be made with all program participants via email, meetings or phone calls.
- Facilitates On-The-Job Training and career counseling and other services to help participants maintain employment as needed.
- Establishes relationships with referral sources to ensure their familiarity with Goodwill's Placement Services.
- Attends staff meetings, job developer meetings and other meetings as assigned or which are necessary in order to staff referrals and coordinate services.
- Responsible for submitting timely and accurate personal time records to the Program Manager.
- Responsible for appropriate Program documentation, including file management, on all participants assigned to the Placement Services caseload. This would include enrollment paperwork, case notes, referrals, and contractor responses.
- Facilitate Job Preparation Workshops as scheduled.
- Assists the participants in coordinating adjunct services (i.e. transportation, day care, etc.) in order to enhance success.
- Establishes rapport with businesses that can provide jobs with sustainable wages and integration.
- Consults with staff in regard to individual participant program plans at scheduled meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management necessary to accomplish program goals.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor's Degree in Social Services preferred. Minimum of two years experience in marketing/sales and making employer and business contacts required. Vocational counseling experience preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Computer Skills: To perform the duties of this job, the employee should proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook and be able to utilize the internet effectively.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certification in First Aid/CPR/HIV. May be required to be trained in behavior management techniques.
Other Skills and Abilities: Proven skills in development of rapport and communication with referral sources and employers. Demonstrated effectiveness in working with women that have barriers to employment. Must be able to effectively communicate over the telephone with employers, referral sources and participants.
Other Qualifications: Must be able to travel throughout the community during business hours. This employee may be required to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends. Must have reliable vehicle, driver's license, liability insurance, and acceptable driving record
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to list and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close range, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. Must be capable of physically performing tasks required of participant in order to model and demonstrate desired behaviors.
