DESCRIPTION
Black Women's Blueprint, Inc. is looking for Interns specializing in History, Women's Studies, or African Studies to intern during the summer and/or fall to help with the organization's continuous Black HerStory Project.
The list of Research Projects is extensive. Interns main tasks include:
- Visiting archives and libraries to collect information and documentation related to the several Research Projects being conducted by Black Women's Blueprint, Inc.
- Assisting with development of exhibitions
- Planning tours and events
- Engaging community and recruiting membership
- Classifying documentation findings
- Conducting oral history interviews
- Interviewing individuals who have not yet told their individual stories
- Writing short essays to be published on Black Women's Blueprint's website
- Writing reports on research findings
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Strong computer skills, including Word and Internet applications
- Interest in the not-for-profit sector
Black Women's Blueprint, Inc. is a civil and human rights organization of women and men. Our purpose is to take action to secure social, political and economic equality in American society now. We work to develop a culture where women of African descent are fully empowered and where gender, race and other disparities are erased. We engage in progressive research, historical documentation, support movement building and organize for social justice steeped in the struggles of Black women within their own communities and within dominant culture.
Internships are unpaid. You will receive credit on our website and educational materials for your work.
