BACKGROUND
The Samaritan Women Residence is a Christian therapeutic and life skills program for survivors of domestic human trafficking. Our women have endured significant trauma and need structure, support and encouragement as they work to rebuild their lives. The Residential Overnight Supervisor is the constant presence within the household during the evening hours, and ensures safety and harmony, as well as adherence to the schedule.
The Overnight Supervisor will be given a private room and bed, and is expected to be attentive to any activity in the home and serve as the first response to any issue in the house, including emergencies.
We seek an emotionally-balanced, no nonsense woman with a discerning maternal instinct, and strong faith conviction. 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide evening/overnight coverage, ensuring that the facility is safe, secure, and the environment is conducive to healing
  • Reinforce the program rules and schedule, oversee after-meal clean up
  • May be required to call 911 or transport a resident to emergency care; Defuse any situation that may arise between residents
  • Provide a daily documentation of activities, for the record
  • Oversee the administration of prescribed medications according to TSW's protocols
  • Lead Morning Bible Devotions to inspire discussion and reflection
  • Report any household maintenance or repair issue
  • Actively engage with the residents to stimulate conversation, activity, and productivity
  • Supervisor will be required to complete TSW's orientation and Care Team training, and on-going supervisor trainings (average four times per year)
SCHEDULE
Sundays-- 1:00pm through Monday 10:00am
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – 7:00pm through 10:00am the following day
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Treat all with dignity and respect and be able to work with diverse members of the community.
  • Must have a strong commitment to confidentiality and ethical responsibilities.
  • Maintain a professional distinction from the residents
  • Demonstrated ability to diffuse escalating situations and restore harmony
  • Relies on Biblical discernment and Scriptural support for problem-solving and relationships
  • Able to effectively enforce household policies and procedures
  • Ability to work under stress, able to calmly and in detail communicate incidents to staff and/or law enforcement
  • Must have a current, valid drivers' license.
  • Successfully pass background checks and random drug testing
  • Access to cell phone and email on a regular basis
  • Current CPR and First-Aid certification from the Red Cross or other licensed agency
  • Experience with traumatized populations, a plus.

The House Manager for the LifeWay Network Safe House will be a key member of a team to provide a safe haven for woman survivors of human trafficking. LifeWay Network operates a safe house for women who have escaped or have been rescued from a trafficking situation and need to be provided a safe and nurturing living situation where they can heal while receiving the services needed to enhance their growth. The House Manager will be responsible for the overall care and management of the house and will collaborate with other team members to ensure that the needs of the residents are met and that a supportive and nurturing environment which supports growth and healing is provided.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Oversee daily routines and general maintenance of the home.
2. Welcome new guests to the home, orient them to the household and help them to adjust to the daily routine.
3. Participate in the creation of a warm, welcoming home enviroment.
4. Oversee daily schedules
5. Maintain daily logs of significant household events and issues as well as any critical incidents
6. Participate in regular team meetings and service planning sessions
7. Support the implementation of individual service plans
8. Establish schedules and organize the completion of all household tasks
9. Oversee menu preparation, and monitor the overall functioning of the house.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in human services
Experience in shelter/residence management
Must respect confidential issues and material of each resident and confidentiality related to the house.
Good writing and computer skills
Must be able to work as a member of a team
Must have good communication and listening skills

Founded in 1988, Asian Women's Shelter (AWS) is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to ending domestic violence and human trafficking and promoting the social, economic and political self-determination of women. AWS provides comprehensive programs and services in over forty languages through its Direct Service (DS) programs, including a 24-hour shelter program and crisis line, Multilingual Access Model, and Queer Asian Women and Transgender Support Program. AWS's Community Building (CB) programs change values, practices, systems and policies through grassroots mobilization, systems reform, and inter-organizational community and capacity building. Support of Communities and Services (SOCS) programs empower community members and engage them in AWS as trained volunteers and multi-lingual, multi-cultural advocates and agents for change.

AWS upholds all program areas with an organizational foundation comprised of 1) dedicated board, staff, volunteers, on-call language advocates and community members; 2) sound fiscal, personnel and administrative management via its Grants, Reporting, and Finance, Fundraising team (GRAFF); and 3) its Organizational Development (OD) work area, which includes strategic planning, evaluation and enhancement of programs and staff, shared leadership development, anti-oppression framework, movement-building and community partnerships, and commitment to personal and organizational integrity. The Community Resource Coordinator (CRC) is responsible for leading and overseeing the grant-seeking process from government and private sources of funding. Responsibilities include grant research, LOI and proposal writing, assistance with creating budgets, follow-up communication with funders, contract management, project coordination with partnering agencies, and assistance with program reporting. In addition, the CRC works closely with the Executive Director to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with funders and community-based collaborations, represents AWS at legislative and budget hearings, and works with the entire staff to assess organizational needs and secure resources that meet those needs.

DUTIES

1. Responsible for all aspects of grant writing, including:
  • Work closely with the Grants, Reporting and Finance and Fund Development (GRAFF) team to create an annual fund development plan to meet agency annual budget needs (currently $2 million)
  • Research government and foundation funding appropriate to AWS activities, including collaborative grants with other agencies
  • Ensure that fund development process is program-driven and matches the mission, philosophy, and program goals of the organization
  • Foster positive, active relationships with current and potential funders, including maintaining regular communication with current and prospective funders, in partnership with the Executive Director
  • Write all government and foundation letters of intent and proposals, assist with creating grant budgets, and coordinate necessary follow-up and ongoing communication with current/prospective funders
  • Attend legislative and budget hearings in San Francisco and Sacramento to provide policy and funding advocacy; coordinate staff and clients to attend and provide testimony, as appropriate
  • Coordinate and update all necessary documentation for grant applications and grant files
  • Create and maintain database of government and foundation grant contract information
2. Responsible for integrating foundation and government grant planning and implementation with appropriate AWS staff:
  • Participate in rotating point-person responsibilities for GRAFF team, which includes the Executive Director, Program Development Coordinator (grassroots fundraiser), Finance Coordinator, and Program Systems Coordinator (program reporter)
  • Regularly review current and future budget and financial statements with Finance Coordinator and Finance Team in order to match fund development plan with ongoing overall budget needs and goals
  • Coordinate communication with AWS program staff to collect adequate information on current and future program needs and involve staff in agency funding
  • Update AWS staff on general fund development plans, as appropriate
  • Work closely with Finance Team to prepare for annual audit
3. Responsible for general staff contributions to the shelter and organization:
  • Provide welcoming and supportive environment for residents
  • Participate in organizational development with other staff (led by Organizational Development Team)
  • Take weekly 2-hour shift on AWS crisis line
  • Share rotating beeper coverage with all AWS staff
  • Support answering phones and door
  • Contribute to general office upkeep and shelter house maintenance
  • Respond to emergencies
  • Support other program areas, as appropriate
  • Conduct community education and outreach, as appropriate
  • Contribute to a positive and peaceful work environment
  • If interested, co-facilitate weekly house meeting or organize other activities for shelter residents
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3 or more years of grant writing experience with government and private funders
  • Demonstrated success in grant writing and funder relationship building
  • Experience working with non-profits or community-based organizations
  • Demonstrated success in building and sustaining meaningful community partnerships and collaborations
  • Ability to represent AWS positively among community members, partner agencies, collaborative organizations, and funders
  • Experience working in diverse communities, including Asian communities, immigrant and refugee communities, and LGBTQ communities
  • Excellent English writing and speaking skills, and comfort with public speaking
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Computer proficient (Microsoft Word, Excel), Macintosh preferred
  • Excellent practice of self-reflection and collaborative communication
  • Demonstrated ability to address conflict in a direct and constructive manner

API Chaya formed in 2011, when the Asian & Pacific Islander Women & Family Safety Center (1993) and Chaya (1996) merged into one organization to better serve Asian, South Asian, and Pacific Islander survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and other crimes in Washington State. We are a dynamic and growing organization with a strong emphasis on mobilizing communities to find solutions to end violence.

API Chaya has grown tremendously over the last two years and is seeking a Development Manager, a newly created position. This opportunity is perfect for a dynamic, community-oriented fundraiser who is committed to social justice and wants to work within an inspirational organizational culture. This person should be an initiative-taker who can work as part of the leadership team in a fast paced work environment to plan, implement and manage fundraising activities related to growing organizational revenue.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors in planning and implementing a comprehensive fundraising campaign to meet organizational revenue goals
  • Update and implement API Chaya's development plan. Take leadership in executing the plan, with a focus on securing funding from individual donors, corporations, businesses, unions and other sources.
  • Implement strategies to significantly increase and manage API Chaya's portfolio of individual donors. Conduct active prospect research, design and implement tailored individual donor solicitation and cultivation plans. Support Board in their cultivation efforts.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with current donors, sponsors, funders, and business and community leaders. Develop new prospects in each category.
  • Work in partnership with Board and volunteers to successfully implement fundraising events, including the Annual Auction & Dinner and October Birthday Celebration. Oversee implementation of event workplan. Mobilize volunteers to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Work in partnership with Board and volunteers to implement workplace giving campaigns. Build strategic relationships with corporations to maximize employee giving.
  • Develop strategies for online and social media fundraising initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent communication with all donors, including donor acknowledgements, statements, annual appeal letters, organizational updates, invitations to special events etc.
  • Manage and ensure the accurate maintenance of records and donor information in the donor database
  • Represent API Chaya by attending events in the community and make presentations, as needed
  • Provide development reports on a regular basis to Executive Director and Board of Directors
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of and a deep demonstrated commitment to working for social justice strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional fundraising experience in a non-profit
  • Experience and proven success in designing, executing, and rolling out a comprehensive fundraising plan, that includes annual giving, multi-year giving, major gifts, corporate, union, and foundation fundraising components.
  • Knowledge of development principles, fundraising strategies and ethics, and familiarity with donor tracking systems (preferably SalesForce) and online communication (preferably Vertical Response, Twitter, Facebook, and Wordpress/Joomla/SquareSpace)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and lead a small team
  • Strategic thinker with ability to manage short term and long term plans and goals, with record of achieving results.

DESCRIPTION

The New York Asian Women's Center is the largest Asian American focused domestic violence agency in the country; a premier human trafficking victim serving organization; and, a national demonstration project that will develop and provide model services to sexually abused survivors. With a $3.5 million annual budget, NYAWC offers a 24/7 hotline; counseling and case management services for survivors and their children; emergency shelter and transitional housing; and, immigration legal services.

Annually, NYAWC raises over $750,000 from foundations, corporations and individuals. With encouragement and through fundraising by our board of directors our goal is to increase private funding, especially by expanding individual donations. As such, we are creating this director of development position. This position reports directly to the executive director, is an executive staff member and supports the board of directors' fundraising activities.

Currently, the NYAWC development department is comprised of a manager and an associate whose position is split between development and communications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

¨ Prospecting, cultivating and nurturing relationships with individuals, corporations and large foundations.
¨ Directing and supervising the development department
¨ Developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and public relations strategy.
¨ Create a fund development plan and a major gift and planned giving program to increase revenues, supporting the strategic direction of the organization.
¨ Overseeing special events and campaigns.

QUALIFICATIONS

¨ 4-5 years nonprofit fundraising experience.
