RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of the Huntingdon County Civil Legal Representation Project (HCCLRP) is responsible for leading the HCCLRP and providing effective civil legal representation of victims of domestic violence to the Court in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. The Director will supervise the HCCLRP staff and ensure that the project provides legal information, consultation and representation for program participants at Huntingdon House (HH) a program for survivors of domestic violence. HCCLRP includes a strong focus on serving rural domestic violence survivors. The Project Director also contributes to the coordinated community response to domestic violence in Huntingdon County. 
QUALIFICATIONS
Law degree from an accredited law school and license to practice law in Pennsylvania required. Prior experience in the practice of family and/or public interest law, as well as, expertise in working with survivors of Domestic Violence and providing court advocacy about the impact of domestic violence preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least one year of legal assistant experience in a litigation and family law practice, or a public interest law firm or similar setting is preferred. 
  • Knowledge of unique issues facing rural victims of domestic violence is preferred. 
  • Must possess excellent writing, proofreading, professional telephone skills and a willingness to develop and learn new skills. 
  • Excellent and demonstrated word processing required, knowledge of Excel spreadsheet, West Law and case management software is desirable.

Lambda Legal's Transgender Rights Project works specifically on behalf of transgender, intersex, and gender nonconforming people. Recent Lambda Legal landmark victories include Glenn v. Brumby, in which we established important law governing gender discrimination in the course of representing a transgender woman fired for transitioning at her job in the Georgia Assembly, and the Smith v. Fields case, which we won on behalf of several Wisconsin transgender women in prison who were denied transition-related health care. In other examples of our recent work, earlier this year the Transgender Rights Project secured Social Security survivor benefits for our 93-year-old client whose claim had been denied following her husband's death, as well as a Social Security Administration policy change for all transgender spouses.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Attorney will devote approximately 50% of the position's time to Lambda Legal's transgender advocacy nationwide and the other 50% to work in Lambda Legal's other priority areas in the Northeast Region (New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.), increasing Lambda Legal's presence as a force for civil rights there. The attorney will handle all aspects of litigation in precedent-setting cases, as well as engage in education efforts and policy advocacy. Litigation responsibilities include devising litigation strategies to produce the greatest positive impact most efficiently, conducting each stage of litigation in trial and appellate courts, writing amicus briefs, organizing amicus strategies, supervising Lambda Legal cooperating attorneys, assisting with the screening of requests for legal assistance, and investigating and developing potential new matters.
In addition, attorneys on staff often consult with private lawyers who are handling matters related to Lambda Legal's areas of expertise, advocate with government agencies and officials, and advise policy makers. The attorney will engage in public speaking, write for a variety of audiences, and help implement education strategies to advance public knowledge and change dialogue about sexual orientation, gender identity and expression and HIV-related legal issues. The education work involves frequent interviews with print, radio, television, and web reporters. Some travel is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants are expected to possess experience sufficient to allow them to work with substantial independence in furtherance of Lambda Legal's mission in all areas of our work. Applicants should have a minimum of four (4) years experience as a practicing attorney, including litigation experience that prepares the applicant to handle law reform litigation.
The applicant should have a high level of independence and initiative, excellent speaking and writing skills, the ability to produce the highest caliber legal work, creativity, good judgment, and a willingness to work with others toward the most effective strategies and initiatives to advance civil rights. In addition, the successful candidate will have the ability to talk and write about legal and other complex issues in clear, persuasive terms for non-lawyer audiences.
Working at Lambda Legal requires a demonstrated awareness of and commitment to the concerns of the communities Lambda Legal. TechWomen empowers, connects, and supports the next generation of women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) from Africa and the Middle East by providing them the access and opportunity needed to advance their careers, pursue their dreams, and inspire women and girls in their communities.
The Program Officer will support the TechWomen team in managing projects and leading communications efforts. This individual will lead and manage our communications strategy, with special focus on relaying the program's impact to stakeholders and a broader audience. The Program Officer will also manage and support M&E, draft State Department reports, and be the main point of contact for TechWomen participants. In this role, the Program Officer will also lead the effort in creating pre-departure materials to help the participants understand the objectives of the program and acclimate to the Bay Area. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Communications & Administration
•Work with the team to develop communications plan. Plan includes the creation and production of materials, presentations, social media planning, media relations and presentation development.
•Post to social media channels, write and edit blog posts and assist with website updates, as needed.
•Oversee Program Associate's social media plan implementation by reviewing posts and tweets and ensuring adherence to timeline and content.
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
•Track and analyze program progress against key indicators and advise on areas of opportunity.
•Develop easy to use monitoring and data collection tools as necessary.
•Prepare impact reports and presentations for sponsors and general program updates.

Participant and Program Management

Create region and country specific outreach materials and manage translation projects, as needed.
•Responsible for complying with applicable contract and sponsor requirements and following all IIE policies and procedures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
•Undergraduate degree in related field, and at least 2 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
•Program management experience including budgeting, maintaining client relationships, and delegating tasks and responsibilities in a complex, deadline-oriented environment preferred.

The New York City Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project (AVP) is seeking a Lead Organizer. AVP envisions a world in which all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ), and HIV-affected people are safe, respected, and live free from violence. AVP's mission is to empower LGBTQ and HIV-affected communities and allies to end all forms of violence through organizing and education, and support survivors through counseling and advocacy.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The New York City Anti-Violence Project is looking for an energetic and experienced individual to support the coordination of AVP's community organizing and public advocacy department. This person will supervise front line staff, develop community organizing campaigns, co-coordinate the Community Leadership Institute at AVP, oversee all outreach, and support in rapid incident response efforts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to campaign development, supervision, training, facilitation, coalition coordination and outreach. Work may include night and weekend hours.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory:
  • Supervise, support and evaluate Community Organizing and Public Advocacy (COPA) organizer and program associate.
  • Attend department meetings and other departmental staff engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with Co-Director of COPA to create, implement, and monitor departmental procedures and staff development plans.
Program Development and Coordination:
  • Work collaboratively with the Co-Director of COPA to:
    • follow and analyze policies and trends that impact AVP's public advocacy, community organizing, and client services programming.
    • create and maintain internal systems to increase the efficiency and impact of COPA's programs.
    • develop organizing strategies to respond to incidents of violence.

  • Create volunteer leadership structures to further the work of AVP's campaigns.

  • Attend professional development in-service trainings and external trainings/seminars as appropriate/indicated.
  • Attend regular staff and department meetings.
  • Attend AVP events.
Organizational Relationships
  • Reports to the Co-Director of Community Organizing and Public Advocacy
  • Works closely with staff in the Community Organizing and Public Advocacy Department, the Client Services Department, Legal Services Department and the Communications and Development Department.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2 years of Community Organizing and Public Advocacy supervisory experience including: conducting performance evaluation, and promoting professional development for staff.
  • 4 years Community Organizing experience including campaign development, base building, leadership development, facilitation, training development, coalition coordination, and campaign based research.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a team of professionals with diverse experience and skill sets.
  • 2 years of project management or project coordination experience including reporting on government and foundation activities, program design and implementation, and program evaluation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of anti-oppression and social justice frameworks.
  • Excellent computer skills, database experience, and knowledge of Microsoft Office required.

  • Proven ability to maintain clear professional boundaries.

The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) seeks a highly motivated and high performing Public Policy Coordinator. This is a great opportunity for a committed team player to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
NNEDV is a social change organization dedicated to creating a social, political and economic environment in which violence against women no longer exists. NNEDV: (1) advocates for laws, policies and funding to address domestic violence and all violence against women; (2) provides training, technical assistance, and support to state domestic violence coalitions, as well as local domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, underserved and transitional housing programs; and (3) works with policy makers, business leaders, national allies and the general public to end all forms of domestic violence.
The Public Policy Coordinator will help implement NNEDV's policy priorities which include re-authorization, implementation, and funding of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA), elimination of domestic violence homicides (incIuding gun violence prevention), provision of victim shelter and housing, and the advancement of women's economic sufficiency. This is an entry-level position with significant responsibility. The work includes various administrative duties, as well as participation in all aspects of NNEDV's policy work. The ideal candidate is highly organized and detail driven, comfortable with consistent multi-tasking and quick deadlines, a fast researcher and great writer, proficient with internet applications, dedicated and resourceful, committed to creating positive social change, and passionate about domestic violence issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitoring and analyzing federal legislation, including providing information to Members of Congress & to state coalitions
  • Monitoring state coalition listserves to track policy conversations, summarize discussions, and research and respond to requests for information and assistance
  • Creating materials, including action alerts, fact sheets, and letters to and updates for Members of Congress, state coalitions and local domestic violence programs
  • Engaging the state coalitions and the general public in policy actions (alerts, petitions, etc.) through NNEDV's advocacy platform (Salsa), emails, and social media
  • Participating in lobby visits and strategy sessions with NNEDV staff and national coalition partners
  • Updating sections of NNEDV's website related to policy initiatives
  • Planning and coordinating annual Advocacy Day conference, including hotel procurement, materials creation, speaker arrangements, and conference follow-up
  • Helping to write Congressional testimony and draft legislation as needed
  • Attending Congressional hearings, briefings and press conferences
  • Scheduling meetings and providing logistical support for advocacy meetings
  • Handling administrative tasks, including meeting notes, financial submissions and other internal documentation
  • Working as a member of the NNEDV team—collaborating with other NNEDV programs and staff
