Position: Stabilization Mentor
Hours: 40 Hours per week. M-F
General Summary of Duties: Stabilization Mentor provides intervention and support services to maintain families in permanent housing for up to 18 months. The Scattered Sites programs provide temporary shelter in apartment units for homeless families. Responsibilities of this position include; Working with family as part of an interdisciplinary team to develop an economic and stabilization plan to best meet each family’s housing, economic, and stabilization needs; Conducts home visits to support and assist families in implementing their stabilization plan; Assists families with all aspects of managing tenancy, including collaboration with housing team and landlords; Monitors families progress and provides regular documentation and reporting: Assumes other responsibilities as requested by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  1. Experience working in the community with homeless families.
  2. Familiarity with Landlord/Tenants rights.
  3. Ability to perform data entry information into outcomes system.
  4. Knowledge and ability to write case notes into client records.
  5. Ability to clearly communicate with families and co-workers
  6. Clean driving record with the ability to drive.
  7. Must have a vehicle to perform home visits.
  8. Strong mediation, negotiation, oral, and written skills.
  9. Ability to handle a variety of assignments and have the flexibility to work some evenings if necessary.
Education:
  1. BA with experience in human services strongly preferred.
  2. Three to Five years of working in a non-profit social service setting.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work in office and field-based settings with a diverse, homeless population.
  4. Bi-lingual skills strongly preferred.
