JASS (Just Associates), a fast-growing, global, activist-oriented organization dedicated to strengthening the voice, visibility and collective organizing power of women is looking for an intern with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
This is a great opportunity for an energetic, creative, motivated and detail-oriented individual who is interested in applying their skills in an exciting role within a growing and innovative organization. This is a position with enormous capacity for growth and learning. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in interesting and challenging work, as well as expand their skills and build a foundation for a career in the nonprofit field.
Main Responsibilities:
Specific tasks will include:
  • Maximizing the use and impact of listservs, yahoo groups, blog, regional websites, Facebook, etc. and developing and proposing ideas for enhanced impact of these tools;
  • Working with program staff to update content and design for our CMS website and database;
  • Developing creative ways to share women’s stories and experiences;
  • Some writing and editing of content for website, brochures, blogs, etc;
  • Administrative support;
  • Other program support as assigned.
  • An undergraduate degree (or be working towards one) related to Communications, Social Media or other relevant field;
  • An Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software applications;
  • Interest in and some knowledge of social justice issues;
  • High level of comfort using blogging software and sites including Twitter, Facebook, Hootsuite etc.
  • Excellent networking and diplomacy skills;
  • Ability to think critically and reflectively and to work with minimal supervision;
  • Proficiency in Spanish desired but not required;
  • Ability to multi-task, self-starter, with high comfort level working in a fast-paced environment.
The JASS intern must be:
  • Extremely proactive, productive, creative and design-savvy
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented
  • Experience working cross-culturally
  • Flexible and able to respond to changing deadlines and priorities
Salary: Stipend provided
Hours: Minimum of 20 hours commitment
