JASS (Just Associates), a fast-growing, global, activist-oriented organization dedicated to strengthening the voice, visibility and collective organizing power of women is looking for an intern with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
This is a great opportunity for an energetic, creative, motivated and detail-oriented individual who is interested in applying their skills in an exciting role within a growing and innovative organization. This is a position with enormous capacity for growth and learning. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in interesting and challenging work, as well as expand their skills and build a foundation for a career in the nonprofit field.
Specific tasks will include:
Maximizing the use and impact of listservs, yahoo groups, blog, regional websites, Facebook, etc. and developing and proposing ideas for enhanced impact of these tools;
Working with program staff to update content and design for our CMS website and database;
Developing creative ways to share women’s stories and experiences;
Some writing and editing of content for website, brochures, blogs, etc;
Other program support as assigned.
An undergraduate degree (or be working towards one) related to Communications, Social Media or other relevant field;
An Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software applications;
Interest in and some knowledge of social justice issues;
High level of comfort using blogging software and sites including Twitter, Facebook, Hootsuite etc.
Excellent networking and diplomacy skills;
Ability to think critically and reflectively and to work with minimal supervision;
Proficiency in Spanish desired but not required;
Ability to multi-task, self-starter, with high comfort level working in a fast-paced environment.
The JASS intern must be:
Extremely proactive, productive, creative and design-savvy
Well-organized and detail-oriented
Experience working cross-culturally
Flexible and able to respond to changing deadlines and priorities
Salary: Stipend provided
Hours: Minimum of 20 hours commitment
