DAWN is a comprehensive provider of domestic violence services, including a 24-hour Advocacy & Crisis Line, emergency confidential shelter, survivor support groups, immigration and legal support, youth prevention work, and children's programming. Our mission is to lead and support efforts in South King County communities to end domestic violence by providing the critical services and education for survivors to make informed choices about their future and engaging communities to raise awareness and take action.
OVERVIEW OF POSITION
The Children's Advocate is responsible for developing and implementing trauma-informed children's programming, services, and advocacy for children and families at DAWN. This involves individual empowerment-based advocacy and case management, as well as small group work, with children and families. Individual advocacy work is primarily offered to residents of DAWN's Emergency Shelter. Group-based work takes place at both the Shelter and our Community Program Office.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide advocacy, support, and coordination of services to children, youth and families who have experienced Intimate Partner Violence, based in developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed practice. 
2. Develop and coordinate on and off-site activities that encourage relationship-building between children and peers as well as between parent and child. 
3. Develop and implement trauma-informed and empowerment-focused children's programming for use in child care groups. Facilitate 2-3 of these groups per week. 
4. Assist Housing and Community Advocates in coordinating supportive services for children and parents in Shelter and Community programs. 
5. Collaborate and network with a broad base of stake holders, including local schools, community-based organizations, child welfare agencies, and physical or mental health providers to ensure appropriate services for children and families. 
6. Work with Prevention Program Manager to develop trauma-informed parenting program for implementation at DAWN's Shelter and Community Programs. 
7. Support/mentor volunteers who are working in the Children's Program. 
8. Provide advocacy-based counseling on DAWN's 24-Hour Advocacy and Crisis Line, facilitate modules as part of DAWN's Advocacy Trainings, and engage in mentoring DAWN's volunteers in advocacy roles. 
9. Coordinate and maintain ongoing inventory of age appropriate children's and parenting items. 
10. Maintain accurate records including up-to-date client files and case notes, Salesforce data entry, and submit reports and program evaluations, adhering to established timelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree in social work or related field. Relevant work experience can be substituted. 
2. Familiarity with anti-oppression principles and practices. 
3. Experience bringing a trauma-informed approach to working with children, including caregiving, advocacy, and curriculum-based programming. 
4. Experience providing advocacy-based counseling for survivors of Intimate Partner Violence. 
5. Experience and/or interest in developing trauma-informed parenting programming. 
6. Bi-lingual skills that represent languages predominately spoken by survivors in South King County, such as Spanish, Russian, Somali, French, etc. 
7. A minimum of 20 hours of basic training covering theory and implementation of advocacy-based counseling and domestic violence issues. 
8. Proficiency in data collection and Microsoft Office programs. Experience with InfoNet and Salesforce helpful. 
9. Ability to work in a confidential manner and in a confidential setting. 
10. Strong commitment to providing culturally appropriate services to those we work with. 
11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
12. Strong time management, problem solving and organizational skills; ability to work well both independently and in a team environment. 
13. Own or have access to reliable transportation, including a valid Washington State driver's license and proof of auto insurance (if applicable). 
14. Current CPR/First Aid, and HIV/AIDS training or able to secure within one month of employment.

Compensation: $16.40/hour,
plus an excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vacation, and sick leave
Hours: 40 Hours/Week, including at least two evenings and possible weekends

DEPARTMENT
CYPD Technical Unit The Child and Youth Protection and Development (CYPD) 
Technical Unit works towards the protection and development of children and youth and consists of three sectors; Child Protection, Education and Youth & Livelihoods. Together these sectors promote the wellbeing of children and youth through working across a child's or youth's environment with families, communities, civil society, markets and government and through safe and developmentally appropriate programs across age groups. The Child Protection sector works towards preventing and responding to abuse, exploitation and neglect of children. The IRC believes that strong child protection systems are essential to ensuring that children are safe, cared for and have access to services and support. As part of its 5 year strategic, the Child Protection sector is investing in "social workforce development and support" as a priority with a specific focus on timely, quality and coordinated case management practices.
PURPOSE 
The Child Protection Technical Adviser will be responsible for advancing the work on case management for children. This includes tool development, country support, interagency coordination and fundraising. This position will reports to the Senior Technical Adviser for Child Protection. This is a maternity cover starting on 1st October 2013 for a period of 9 months, with a possible extension to 12 months.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and grow child protection technical priority of 'Case Management':
    • Manage TU-level grants and work towards securing further funding for this area of work
    • Identify and develop relevant partnerships for this area of work
    • Develop tools and products for this area of work, thereby integrating the IA CP IMS, BID and CCS
    • Participate in the work of the IA CP IMS Steering Committee
    • Coordinate inter-agency work on case management as part of CPWG work plan
      • Manage the consultants supporting IRC in this work
      • Finalize the training materials for case management
      • Finalize the guidelines for case management
      • Identify potential funding opportunities for the CM taskforce work into 2014-15
  • Support country programs starting or already implementing case management
    • Provide remote and/or in-country technical support and guidance to country programs, with a specific focus on case management and case management related work.
    • Provide technical review and support to country programs in proposal development, donor reporting and donor relationships as appropriate
  • Contribute to other tasks advancing the global CP team:
    • Represent CYPD/CP in external meetings
    • Liaise with other technical units as appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of Master's Degree or equivalent in social work, social sciences, law, psychology, education or other related field
  • At least five years experience in managing or implementing international relief programs in the child protection sector
  • Strong background in case management practice and direct experience on the IA CP IMS
  • Experience in developing guidelines, procedures and writing reports and technical materials
  • Excellent communication, leadership, facilitation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively at multiple levels and with multiple stakeholders
  • Budget management skills
  • Ability to work independently and balance multiple tasks
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of time, potentially to insecure areas
  • Competent in Windows, MS office programs, excel, email and database experience

BASIC FUNCTION

Coordinate and manage 1,000 Days' external outreach events, meetings and activities as well as internal administrative and operational needs.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate and support 1,000 Days outreach efforts targeting leaders in the U.S. government, non-governmental organizations, corporations and international institutions
  • Support Executive Director in managing day-to-day administrative and operational activities such as coordinating travel arrangements, scheduling, budgeting, expense reporting and outreach
  • Manage preparations for international and domestic 1,000 Days events and meetings
  • Serve as liaison and interface with various partners from the U.S. government, civil society and private sector
  • Prepare communication, cultivation, and briefing materials including talking points, presentation decks and collateral materials

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Highly motivated, self starter with at least three years of experience working with leadership teams, preferably in the field of international development

  • Expert-level MS Office; experience using InDesign, Salesforce, WordPress and related software produce highly desirable
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities
  • Demonstrated capacity to take initiative and work with a high sense of urgency

Life Span is a community based, not for profit organization located in the Chicago metropolitan area which provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and their children.

Life Span is seeking a full time Children and Teen Counselor to provide individual and group services to boys who are grammar school, middle school and high school age. Mentoring high school boys is a major component of this job. Participants in services are children and teens who have witnessed abuse at home and/or who are involved in abusive relationships themselves.

Counseling services are provided in Life Span offices and in school based programs. Services include providing educational information about domestic violence and safety planning, developing non-violent conflict resolution skills, and promoting positive self-esteem building activities. The Children and Teen Counselor works with a team and must be a good communicator, flexible with scheduling, and able to represent the agency to community partners including school personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

B.A. in counseling psychology, social work or related field required; Master's preferred. Illinois IDVA mandated 40 hour Domestic Violence training desirable. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Candidates should also demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in domestic violence, women's issues, and issues affecting low income families. Car required.

OVERVIEW

For 10 years, Urban Initiatives has run a health and education soccer program for second through fourth grade boys and girls in the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) in underserved communities. Urban Initiatives is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit community development corporation that was established in 2003 through a grassroots effort by two CPS teachers, the school in which they worked, and the parents of their students in order to boost their physical fitness, health education, academic performance, and character development. Urban Initiatives believes in sports-based youth development and the importance of providing safe spaces for children to learn and grow. Urban Initiatives takes a whole child approach to development in order to provide children, who have the odds stacked against them, with the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Urban Initiatives is offering an AmeriCorps Member / Youth Program Associate for the 2013/2014 service term. Urban Initiatives is a Chicago based nonprofit organization that runs a health and education soccer program in 24 Chicago Public Schools and has grown tremendously over the years. The Program Associate will have the opportunity to work with the senior staff in a casual, collaborative working environment and will provide direct service through assistant coaching and parent outreach at four school sites in underserved Chicago communities. Full-time Hours: In season, typically M-Th; 7:30 AM-3:30 PM and F; 10:00 AM-6:00 PM. Out of season, typically M-F; 9:00 AM-5:00 PM. Members are required to work a minimum of 1700 hours or approximately 40 hours per week during the 10-month service term.

Stipend: The program will offer to the member a living stipend of $14,000, training and professional development opportunities. Upon the completion of the service term and the required 1700 worked hours; the member will become eligible for a $5,550 education award.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Youth Program Associate dedicates his/her time to overseeing Work to Play Program quality. Additionally, the Youth Program Associate assists with implementation of the Take the Lead Program as well as Healthy Places activities at one partner school one day a week.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee Work to Play Program implementation at 5 school sites
  • Be the liaison between the schools and the UI office
  • Know all contents of the Work to Play Program Booklet including games, lessons, main points, health and character information, as well as administrative documents – also assist in ongoing program development by making suggestions for enhancements
  • Support programming by serving as Assistant Coach while at program sessions at each school every week
  • Oversee field trips, seasonal team parties and Service Learning Projects at each of your school sites
  • Other direct service includes assisting with program-related events, paperwork dissemination/collection, snack delivery, program evaluation, and other support
  • Take photos, videos, and record success stories to be posted on the UI blog or shared/written about in newsletters
  • Implement UI's parent outreach plan at all schools and track parent participation through activities such as parent meetings, parent letters, handouts, phone calls, invitations, field trips, etc.
  • Assist Program Manager with On-Site Program Director Evaluations
  • Participate in required staff meetings, staff development sessions and trainings
  • Identify and build relationships within the school communities of the schools served
  • Identify and reach out to potential program partners
  • Support one partner with more in-depth intervention through the Healthy Places Project
  • Support the Take the Lead Program by assisting with leadership retreats and facilitating monthly school-based meetings
  • Other responsibilities as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

ABOUT

Girls in the Game provides and promotes sports and fitness opportunities, nutrition and health education and leadership development to enhance the overall health and well-being of all girls. Our year-round continuum of programs includes after school programs for elementary-, middle- and high-school girls, a five-week summer camp, one-day health fests, a year-round leadership development program and parent and caregiver healthy lifestyles trainings.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Development Coordinator is responsible for leading Girls in the Game's Charity Race Team program, which entails recruiting and supporting volunteers who fundraise for Girls in the Game while participating in a marathon, triathlon or other race. Additionally, the Development Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Development Manager in coordinating all of the organization's special events which includes an annual dinner/silent auction, a summer golf outing, and other partner events. The Development Coordinator will also help with the organization's communications efforts and corporate relationship building.

Girls in the Game is seeking a full-time Development Coordinator to do the following:
  • Lead the Charity Race Team program
  • Recruit Charity Race Team members
  • Support Charity Race Team members in their fundraising efforts, including online fundraising
  • Coordinate Girls in the Game's presence and Charity Race Team member services at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon
  • Maintain organization website and email communication
  • Work on social networking strategy and execution
  • Maintain ongoing communications with event contacts including vendors, guests, sponsors, donors and committee members
  • Coordinate silent auction and raffle donations
  • Coordinate guest marketing, signage and print materials
  • Coordinate event registration

QUALIFICATIONS
