RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility of the Development Assistant is processing donations to our 501(c)(4), 501(c)(3), and PAC accounts, from entering gifts into our database to sending out acknowledgement letters. This position also provides support as needed to the Development Manager, Membership Development Director, and/or Executive Director for a wide variety of fundraising activities.
  • Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
  • Continually update and correct database records.
  • Prepare and make bank deposits.
  • Maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration matierals, and other duties as assigned for fundraising events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong commitment to the fundamental right of a woman to choose safe and legal abortion as part of a full range of reproductive health care choices.
  • Good writing and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with donors at a first-line level.
  • Exceptional organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to focus in a busy office environment are a must.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications; ability to become proficient in NGP database.
Schedule: Part-Time, 20 hours per week. Flexible schedule available.
Compensation: $15 per hour

We are three organizations in one, operating a 501(c)(3), a 501(c)(4), and a state PAC. Our combined annual operating budget is approximately $800,000 and like many nonprofits we have an entrepreneurial spirit and accomplish a lot with a little. POSITION SUMMARY
The Development Manager is responsible for creating and executing an annual development plan, including cultivating and developing donor relationships; organizing events; drafting fundraising messages and communications; managing a fundraising calendar; and managing the donor database. This position works closely with the Executive Director and the Membership Development Director.
KEY DUTIES
  • Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan and associated fundraising calendar, working in partnership with the Executive Director and Membership Development Director to create strategies for major donor development, corporate and foundation giving, and membership development efforts.
  • Draft content for fundraising emails, direct mail pieces, grant proposals, event collateral, and other fundraising-related items as needed.
  • Plan and manage fundraising events, including two major annual events (Liberty Ball & Auction and Chocolate for Choice).
  • Assist the Executive Director with major donor cultivation and solicitation, ensuring that records are kept up to date and that all calls and other outreach activities are completed on scheduled.
  • Research and prospect new foundation, corporate, and individual giving opportunities for the organization.
  • Work with the Operations Director to ensure that accurate information is maintained in the donor database, that gift acknowledgements are processed in a timely fashion, and that information is available as needed for internal and external reporting purposes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree desired.
  • 3 years of development experience in a nonprofit organization or political campaign, including research/prospecting experience and event management experience.
  • Strong commitment to the fundamental right of a woman to choose safe and legal abortion as part of a full range of reproductive health care choices.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications; ability to become proficient in NGP database.

The Communications Coordinator is a part-time (20 hours a week position). The successful candidate will have strong writing, research and social media skills and is comfortable working in a fast-paced advocacy and political environment.

DUTIES

Keep the NARAL Pro-Choice Washington website updated with upcoming events, blog posts and other newsworthy information
  • Write weekly email alerts
  • Maintain social networking sites (Facebook and Twitter) and implement strategies to increase followership
  • Develop and implement strategic communications plan to build and maintain relationships with media
  • Assist in the research, writing and compilation of the semi-annual newsletter
  • Draft media advisories/releases/letters to the editor and assist with pitch calls to reporters
  • Create fact sheets and talking points for various issues and campaigns
  • Review and edit all written communications with NARAL supporters and membership
QUALIFICATIONS

SUMMARY

NARAL Pro-Choice Washington seeks a Development Director to manage and develop an annual fundraising plan, including cultivating and developing major and mid-level donor relationships, organizing events, managing a fundraising calendar, and overseeing a database. This position is based in Seattle and reports directly to the Executive Director. The right candidate will have a solid background in fundraising, including event management, proposal writing and financial reporting, donor cultivation and use of technology to enhance fundraising.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan, organize and implement the major donor plan. This person will staff the executive director in major donor efforts and makemajor donor calls and visits when necessary and appropriate.
  • Establish innovative strategies to promote giving to NARAL Pro-Choice Washington, focusing on attracting and increasing major and mid-level donors.
  • Manage and ensure the accurate maintenance of records and donor information in the donor database.
  • Organize and serve as the main point person for major organizational fundraising events
  • Oversee weekly upkeep and population of fundraising database and records, proposal and report files, and gift processing
  • Develop strategy for new online and social media fundraising initiatives
  • Help shape organizational strategy and play a leadership role in implementing the organization's strategic plan
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Position will start part time and increase in hours up to full time closer to the date of the event.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be available on the day and night of the auction, Saturday, October 12, 2013

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Auction Plan
  • Work with Deputy Development Director to write and execute plan and meet set goals including fundraising goals
  • Attend and report at meetings as requested by the Deputy Development Director and/or Executive Director
  • Review and track expenses and maintain budget worksheets
  • Coordinate with auctioneer, venue, and venders
Work with NARAL Staff and Auction Committee
  • Consult with and support staff, board and volunteers through all aspects of the event
  • Provide general oversight and overall production vision for the event
  • Provide Deputy Development Director with weekly updates she can give auction reports at weekly staff meetings. Attend weekly staff meetings as needed
  • Coordinate with staff to ensure goals are met in a timely manner
Procurement
  • Ensure that procurement is on track per auction plan
  • Create systems for reporting and tracking of goals and items
  • Ensure all items are entered into existing auction tracking system and are completely processed
  • Assess bidding from previous years' silent auctions and strategically focus on procuring items that are competitive
  • Assess income to value ratio of items in previous years' live auctions and strategically focus on procuring items that will be competitive and raise the most money
  • Create plan and supervise any procurement callers and volunteers
  • Help grow the number of high value/exclusive items in the silent and live auctions
Manage Event Day
  • Work with Deputy Development Director to create and coordinate day-of-event timeline
  • Planning and coordinating with the auctioneer on live items, logistics, and event needs
  • Develop floor plan
  • Act as liaison with venue on all aspects of floor pan relating to silent and live auctions, timeline, and if needed, the menu and guest seating
  • Directing on-site day of event set-up and strike for silent and live auctions
  • Directing and assisting with the execution of the after event wrap-up
COMPENSATION
Financial compensation for this contract position will range between $8,000-$11,000 DOE

SUMMARY
The Field Canvass Director is responsible for hiring, training and supervising all canvassers employed by NARAL Pro-Choice Washington. The Field Canvass Director will work to maintain an energized team that educates and mobilizes the pro-choice majority of Washington.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning
  • In consultation with Executive Director write monthly, annual and long-term canvass plan and budget.
  • Work with other organizations when planning canvass, to ensure no dual canvassing.
Management and Supervision
  • Responsible for maintaining a steady and productive team of 4-8 canvassers.
  • Recruit, hire, train and manage canvassers who will contact the community through door-to-door outreach.
  • Implement canvass plan and evaluate nightly and bi-monthly performance to ensure fundraising and field goals are met.
  • Run daily meetings that motivate and inspire the team of canvassers.
Field Organizing
  • Work with the field staff to create and implement actions that support our current campaigns.
Fundraising
  • Lead by example in soliciting donations, identifying members and collecting signatures while in the field.
  • Develop canvassing strategy to meet or exceed the office goals for fundraising and membership identification.
Training
  • Train new canvassers and coordinate advanced training for experienced canvassers.
  • Debrief with field manager or individual canvassers at the end of the day to evaluate their effectiveness.
Other
  • Read and research to be personally informed as to the history, legal status, past and current legislation, general news and trends concerning abortion and all aspects of reproductive health care.
  • Perform such other tasks as are appropriate to this position and/or needed by the organization as decided and requested by the executive director.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience
  • Field Manager experience required, Canvass Director experience preferred.
  • One year with non-profit or electoral work.
Technology
  • Intermediate ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of design software such as Pagemaker, Publisher, or Photoshop preferred.
Other
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with board members, staff, volunteers and the general public.
  • Highly organized and able to multi-task.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast paced political environment.
  • Ability to work overtime and irregular hours (nights and weekends).
  • Have a valid Washington driver's license.
  • Have access to transportation and the ability to travel in Western Washington when necessary.
