The PR & Social Media Coordinator is a full time position working within the Advocacy Team to help build Global Fund for Women’s media profile, audience, and advocates – online and offline.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
PR and Media Relations
• Work closely with Campaigns & Communications Manager to outreach to and maintain relationships with critical media, develop media lists and identify media contacts for proactive media outreach
• Build GFW’s media profile in online and offline media, with a focus on engaging media outlets that will reach and engage new audiences
• Develops media partnerships with critical media outlets and ensures placement of high quality copy and content
• Monitor news, online trends, peer organizations, and international events relevant to women’s human rights, philanthropy, and GFW’s programmatic priorities
• Write and place articles, quotes, op-eds and blog posts for GFW and senior GFW spokespeople 
Social Media 
• Manage and implement Global Fund’s social media presence, producing engaging, interactive, posts on social media platforms, including, but not limited to: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
• Develop, execute and measure creative social media campaigns and initiatives with the Campaigns & Communications Manager as part of advocacy campaigns, online fundraising, online media projects, and GFW initiatives
• Monitor and evaluate engagement, impact, and social accounts’ performance on a routine and campaign-specific basis
• Ensure that social media presence is aligned with general Advocacy Team and GFW goals, strategies, create awareness and expand online constituency
• Promote GFW brand online through creative campaigns; monitor GFW mentions and brand consistency across platforms
• Identify promotional partners and social media influencers, and build relationships to develop GFW advocates, especially to promote and engage with advocacy campaigns and creative projects
• Collaborate with peer organizations, news outlets, and influencers on creative digital engagement campaigns, such as Twitter chats, promoting online advocacy opportunities, Google Hangouts, and more
• Manage and elevate CEO social media profile and online presence
• Develop strategy and train staff to expand team and individual social media use, understanding, and consult on how to integrate social media in their operational and programmatic strategies and tactics
• Provide regular reporting to Advocacy Team on digital engagement, online advocacy, social media trends, online media coverage, presence, share of voice, etc. 
Other
• Participate in cross-functional work-teams, as appropriate
• Write copy for reports, documents, email newsletters, publications and proposals as needed
• Other duties and tasks as assigned
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: The PR & Social Media Coordinator reports to the Campaigns & Communications Manager, and works in close collaboration with all members of Advocacy Team, and has collaborative relationships with the Programs and Development teams.
External: The PR & Social Media Coordinator primarily represents the Global Fund for Women to the public via social media and media relations, as well as through external relationships with vendors, peer organizations, partners, and online donors. S/he may also present Global Fund strategy and thought leadership at conferences and convenings.
START DATE AND COMPENSATION
The projected start date for this position will be May 2015. The PR & Social Media Coordinator is a full time, exempt position. Salary will be commensurate with experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Required
• Experience with media relations and PR; high affinity for and interest in news, especially breaking international news
• Deep familiarity with the social media space: experience managing Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts; and familiarity with YouTube, Pinterest and Google+
• Strong written communication skills for various campaigns, platforms and audiences, with the ability to synthesize information quickly and communicate complex topics to a general audience
• Excellent media monitoring, time management, and organizational skills
• Knowledge of news and digital trends and tactics, with the ability to mobilize audience participation and engagement
• Ability to measure and evaluate media coverage and digital and social media engagement
• Sensitivity toward cultural, racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity, and ability to navigate viewpoints and communication styles within a multicultural work environment
• Externally focused and driven by securing publicity and media results
• Highly self-motivated and able to work independently yet within a larger team
• Strong commitment to women’s rights and goals of the Global Fund for Women
Preferred
• Knowledge and experience with AdWords campaigns
• Experience with successful outreach to popular, consumer and women’s media
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• At least 2 years of media relations, PR, social media, and communications experience preferably in an agency, with a demonstrated track record of achievement
• Demonstrated experience of pitching and securing significant media coverage, ideally for campaigns or social causes
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
• Established network of media contacts from the online/media communities
