POSITION SUMMARY

The Jewish Women's Archive (JWA) seeks a dynamic individual to lead the creation, implementation, and evaluation of JWA's online and face-to-face education and outreach programs.The successful candidate will be a resourceful and entrepreneurial professional with excellent written and oral communication skills, who thrives in an organization that sets a premium on collaboration, strategic thinking, and innovation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing strategic direction for all programs;
  • Identifying opportunities for programmatic expansion and funding;
  • Increasing the reach and impact of JWA's programs, projects, and partnerships;
  • Planning and overseeing the marketing, implementation, and evaluation of new programs and partnerships.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Work collaboratively with education staff to create and implement programming and partnerships;
  • Partner with other educational and community organizations to support or develop jointly-sponsored programming;
  • Collaborate with communications staff to develop promotional materials designed to publicize educational programming;
  • Prepare grant narratives, budgets, and reports in concert with Director of Development and Chief Financial Officer;
  • Teach workshops, give presentations, and participate in programs as needed;
  • Represent JWA at relevant professional and community meetings and conferences;
  • Serve as the public face of JWA's Education Department.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of five years experience designing and delivering educational and/or other public programs in non-academic settings.
  • Be a consummate networker. S/he will be skilled at building relationships with potential organizational partners, thought leaders, and community members.
  • Demonstrate an ability to generate ideas for new programming, seek out opportunities, and excite others about JWA's mission.
  • Have a keen interest in history and possess a college or graduate-level degree in American, Jewish, and/or women's history.
  • Know about or be interested in the world of formal and informal Jewish education; having an established network in the field is a plus.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills and facility with traditional and digital media.
  • Enjoy working independently and as part of a team.
  • Understand and share JWA's commitment to utilize the newest communication and networking tools to inspire action and foster change.
This is a full-time position, with the possibility for a flexible schedule. Must be able to travel and to work occasional weekends and evenings.

The International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) is an international non-profit organization specializing in the field of transitional justice. ICTJ works to help societies in transition address legacies of massive human rights violations and build civic trust in state institutions as protectors of human rights.
Provide technical assistance to civil society groups and policymakers to ensure that transitional justice measures seek to reveal patterns of abuse and build momentum for reform. The main functions are to devise strategies and guide and coordinate in-country work.

Position involves producing analysis, policy proposals, and critical feedback; conducting research to provide comparative information; assisting in the development of grant proposals; and providing technical and policy assistance to partners, civil society organizations, including women's and feminist groups, justice sector authorities, governments, and other policymakers. Incumbent will coordinate the program's work on matters related to criminal accountability in conjunction with the Criminal Justice Program. Incumbent will also be responsible for researching and writing on gender-related transitional justice issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Program:
  • Monitor and analyze legal developments in the field of gender justice related to transitional justice.
  • Provide technical assistance on how transitional justice measures can effectively address sexual and gender-based violations and crimes.
  • Where there is particular added value, produce reports or briefing papers that help to develop significant thinking or technical advice on particular challenges.
  • Conceive, coordinate, and supervise or conduct research that deepens ICTJ's approach to gender justice issues related to transitional justice, with a view to ensuring practical solutions to identified problems.
  • Develop strategic resources and materials accessible to a range of audiences, including international and domestic justice systems, women's rights activists, and local/national women's movements.
  • Convene workshops, trainings, and other meetings to provide comparative knowledge and capacity building for relevant actors on gender issues in transitional justice contexts.
  • Assist director in advising and liaising with ICTJ's country and thematic programs, ensuring that a gendered approach to transitional justice is developed and "mainstreamed" within ICTJ's work.
  • Recruit and manage short-term consultants
  • Assist in ICTJ's fundraising efforts, including developing proposals and reporting on grants.
Outreach:
  • Duties involve a wide variety of complex, changing situations, requiring a high degree of conceptual ingenuity and initiative. Incumbent is required to have extensive and authoritative knowledge of the techniques, practices, and theories relevant to the position. Substantial international travel is to be expected.
  • Executes a program and oversees components performed by others within ICTJ or by outside consultants, agencies.
  • Develops and administers budgets for specific programs under her/his charge.
  • Regularly interacts with senior management staff to present and discuss work plans and priorities, and to report work status to ensure ICTJ achieves its organizational goals. Incumbent also has significant and important contact with funders, outside agencies, consultants, vendors, and other business-related outside parties, all of which have a major impact on the image, reputation, and operational well-being of ICTJ.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
A degree in law is required. A post-graduate degree in law is highly desirable.

Experience:
Seven years or more of relevant experience, with at least 3 years of experience in law at a national or international level. Experience working in partnership with civil society networks and with justice sector authorities. Demonstrated research or field experience in international human rights law and gender justice issues. Experience working at national and international levels, including experience with women's rights movements, particularly those in the Global South.

Related Skills or Knowledge:
A strong knowledge of transitional justice, international human rights law, feminist studies, and related fields. Ability to liaise effectively with civil society and victim organizations. Must be familiar with relevant legal issues, public policy, and international affairs and have a demonstrated commitment to the field. Project and program management experience is highly desirable, along with strong analytical and research skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English is required. Fluency in French or Arabic is desirable.

CAE's holistic programs help women, teens, children, survivors and LGBT communities build skills, heal from past abuse, and organize to counter the destructiveness of violence. THE POSITION

CAE seeks to hire an energetic, skilled, and committed Administrator to provide general office management, program, and bookkeeping support. As the first point of contact for program participants and others, it is essential that the candidate have a warm, friendly, professional, and welcoming manner over the phone, in person, and via written correspondence. The position requires someone who has a keen eye for detail and can multi-task and delegate work to data entry specialist, volunteers and interns in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, it is extremely important that the candidate be capable and comfortable navigating new computer systems, including databases, online fundraising systems, and social media.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide general office management: answering phones, greeting guests, maintaining office machines and systems, ordering supplies, managing space rental agreements.
  • Provide program support, including leading an outreach committee for program publicity; creating program flyers; and managing pre-registration, registration, data entry, and fee collection for classes.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot office computer systems, including setting up new stations, installing new software/equipment, maintaining databases, website administration, and backing up the network.
  • Recruit, train, schedule and supervise data entry specialist, volunteers, interns and childcare workers.
  • Assist with bookkeeping and maintaining/processing of financial records.
  • Assist all staff with office support such as making copies, spreadsheets, mail, and data entry.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 2 years experience in office/administrative setting, or comparable experience.
  • Experience supervising or leading teams of staff, volunteers, or interns to complete a project.
  • Strong computer/technological and database management skills. Experience with Giftworks, Microsoft Access, Excel, social media, and Wordpress/website maintenance.
  • Strong communication, writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Disciplined self-starter, collaborative team player, ability to excel with little supervision.
  • Ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to social justice and CAE's mission and goals.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
Salary is $35,000 depending on experience. Benefits include four weeks vacation and employer-sponsored health plan.

Since 1978, RAVEN has worked to end violence against women and children in the St. Louis area. In our work with both adults and youth, RAVEN seeks to foster peaceful relationships, families, and communities, by increasing self-awareness, challenging abuse and control, teaching alternative behaviors and promoting personal responsibility. This year marks RAVEN's 35th year of providing non-violence education. RAVEN is the third oldest program of its kind in the United States.

RAVEN's committed staff and volunteers work with groups of men and young people to assist them in making non-violent decisions in their lives. We do this through the following pro-feminist based programming:
  1. Adult Non-Violence Education (Batterer Intervention)
  2. Youth Violence Prevention and Intervention

RAVEN is currently seeking a skilled professional with a passion for social change to fill the role of Executive Director.

REQUIREMENTS

A Masters degree with a minimum of five to seven years of full-time work experience in domestic or sexual violence prevention/intervention, social services, criminal justice, social justice or closely-related areas. Experience will include a progression in responsibilities, with at least one year in a management or leadership position supervising staff and volunteers. Competency will have been demonstrated in the following areas: budgeting and financial management; information technology (Microsoft Office, Internet, and social media); writing skills; and a strong understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence. The Executive Director will be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

SUMMARY

Responsible for the management and operations of the agency including program planning, program development, fundraising and management of a small staff, interns and volunteers. The Executive Director also oversees the day-to-day operation of the agency including finance, accounting, and safety. The individual in this role will communicate and collaborate effectively with the local community regarding the issues related to RAVEN's mission.

  • Establish and maintain a welcoming environment for program participants and volunteers.

Program Development
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing programs and practices.

  • Seek out new partners to improve program effectiveness and leverage resources.
  • Identify new ways to increase program income.
  • Develop new programs and services that build the capacity and competency of sector stakeholders to prevent and end violence.

Community Leadership and Governance
  • Prepare monthly report to Board of Directors on financial and program status of RAVEN.
  • Provide strong leadership and vision/motivation to staff and volunteers.
  • Attend Board of Directors meetings, collaborating with the President to provide leadership at the meetings.
  • Work with existing board members to create meaningful roles for them to participate and contribute to RAVEN as an organization and/or as a program.
  • Work with the Board to identify new board members that reflect the program and its customers/clients.
  • Seek out opportunities to speak at community and professional forums to raise the visibility of RAVEN in the community; act as spokesperson representing RAVEN to the public, media and other outside organizations.

Creative Time, New York City's veteran and vanguard public arts presenter, seeks a part-time, temporary Project Coordinator to work on an upcoming participatory art project that will galvanize hundreds of New York-based feminists and activists around the most compelling issues of contemporary gender politics. Representing Creative Time, the Project Coordinator will liaise primarily with the project participants, as well as occasionally with the artist, and our project partner, the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum. This large-scale, public project will be presented in October 2013. Primary responsibilities will include managing outreach to a broad base of participants and facilitating their engagement with this project. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of feminist and activist timelines from the 1970s through today, contemporary issues in gender politics and social inequity, and socially-engaged art. The Project Coordinator must be able to interact well with wide-range of individuals from a variety of backgrounds, and is very organized and detail-oriented.

The Project Coordinator reports to Creative Time's Director of Exhibitions and Project Manager and will be working most closely with the CT programming team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Act as the primary point of contact for participants, as well as a liaison within organization, providing updates to internal departments on a regular basis.
  • Manage outreach, correspondence and engagement for new contacts and existing participants to build network of over 500 individuals.
  • Research potential partnership opportunities and tap into existing networks to build project participant base.
  • Organize social networking activities and attend similar events relevant to project.
  • Draft and edit text related to project.
  • Manage project timelines to ensure project is executed on time.
  • Be responsible for day of production and coordination of all participants and any post and pre events.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary gender politics and feminism
  • Contacts to or knowledge of New York City-based, key feminists
  • Experience working with artists and familiarity with contemporary art
  • Experience in community organizing, event production, and/or volunteer coordination

  • A good listener, and can instill a calming presence in a fast-paced environment
  • A personal investment in the history of Creative Time and the evolving role of public art is a big plus

Toward the end of the 20th century, the Guerrilla Girls, an anonymous collective of women artists who take the names of dead women artists and wear gorilla masks to shield their public identities, sought out new frontiers in their fight for truth, justice and the feminist way. Guerrilla Girls BroadBand, "the Broads," use their wit, website and interactive multi-media events to combat sexism, racism and social injustice, focusing attention on such taboo subjects as workplace discrimination, armed forces recruitment tactics in schools, and abortion access for young women.

MAP ABORTION: An interactive, online map with multiple layers of information including historical context and first-person accounts exploring the relationship between access to abortion and the political and social struggles around reproductive justice in the United States. The visual theme will evoke a user-activated game appealing especially to young women.

Meetings of the collective are held in a central location in Brooklyn, NY. Interns must be able to correspond regularly through email, ideally be web and social media-savvy, require minimal micro-managing and maintain a journal for research results. We will work with your school/department to develop academic credit requirements.

The Production Associate is a full-time position responsible for coordinating the high quality production of a wide range of materials to support the achievement of AWID's outcomes.

The Production Associate reports to the Production & Events Manager and works closely with all of the Thematic and Core Programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Production
• Monitor policies and procedures for production, design, translation, packaging and dissemination of all AWID communication products including maintaining production policies and guides, style and branding guides and translation glossaries (Spanish and French)
• In collaboration with the programme teams, coordinate the production, design, translation, packaging and dissemination of a wide range of communication products
• Develop and monitor the production schedule for all AWID publications and proactively resolve issues to ensure timely production

Marketing and Dissemination
• Research, develop and maintain alternative media contact lists to support the dissemination of AWID communication products
• Maintain general organizational mailing and emailing lists for dissemination of AWID communication products
• Market AWID publications to relevant actors

Production Support to Program Teams
• Coordinate with the Thematic and Core Program teams to determine appropriate levels of editing, design, translation and dissemination support for large program communication products
• Identify program team production training needs for tasks such as proofreading and basic design and layout and coordinate appropriate production training with the Production & Events Manager

EXPERIENCE

At least 4-6 years experience:
• In a non-profit development and/or human rights and/or women's rights organization, preferably in the Global South and/or CEE/CIS
