Who is AIDS United?

AIDS United's mission is to end the AIDS epidemic in the United States. The agency strives to achieve its mission through strategic grant-making, organizational capacity building, formative research, advocacy & policy work. Formed from the merger of the National AIDS Fund and AIDS Action Council in 2010, the agency has more than 20 years of experience in policy and grant-making.

AIDS United operates with an annual budget of approximately $11 million and a staff of 26. Grant-making initiatives focus on access and retention in care, advocacy in the deep south, syringe access, sector transformation and more. Policy work is done on behalf of dues paying members that include the majority of the largest and oldest AIDS Service Organization across the country. Other initiatives at AIDS United includes provision of capacity building assistance on behalf of CDC for community-based organizations involved in HIV prevention; and placement of more than 50 AmeriCorps members annually across seven different metropolitan areas.

Job Summary

AIDS United seeks to hire a Grant Writer & Program Liaison responsible for the development of multiple funding proposals throughout the year to foundations, corporate giving programs, and federal funding opportunities on behalf of AIDS United. The position will work with policy and program staff to ensure a solid understanding of initiatives, programs and activities undertaken at AIDS United and to package/represent those programs in writing to effectively secure funding.

The position will work jointly with program, policy, finance, and operations staff to ensure any and all requirements for submission of a complete proposal are met; as well as ensuring timely submission of required reporting on any grants received. The position will do ongoing prospecting to identify new potential funders, and maintain a schedule of all grants submitted, and those in the pipeline (up to one year out).

Qualifications 

Qualified candidates must have a minimum of three years of experience in grant-writing and grant procurement; and deep knowledge and/or experience in the domestic HIV/AIDS field. As well as experience using online databases and other sources to locate philanthropic information and demonstrated success in procuring/winning proposals.

Position requires a highly organized individual with a proven track record of efficient time management and ability to work well independently as well as part of a team. Individual must have the ability to seek and synthesize information and communication in a compelling and succinct form; ability to take initiative, think critically, manage time, and prioritize multiple tasks and projects; ability to understand budgets as they relate to proposals and grants; and the ability to effective coordinate input from multiple parties with clear timelines.

Position requires excellent research and analytical skills as well as excellent personal, verbal, and written communication skills. Must be flexible and able to work in fast-paced and changing work environment and able to work well under pressure. Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint.

Who is WORC?

The Women's Opportunities Resource Center (WORC) is a nationally-recognized not-for-profit organization headquartered in Philadelphia that promotes social and economic self-sufficiency primarily for women, minorities, and dislocated workers. Its subsidiary, the Economic Opportunities Fund (EOF), is a certified CDFI which provides a wide range of financial products (microloans from $1,000 to $35,000). Our loan fund is capitalized at $1 million. To date, we have made a total of 435 direct loans totaling over $1.5 million. In addition, we have packaged 45 loans totaling more than $4.4 million as an intermediary for the SBA Prequalification Program. WORC was recently approved as an SBA microlender. 

Job Summary

Over the next two years, EOF looks to expand its market base and increase its loan volume and capital deployed. We are looking for a professional that is committed to meeting the needs of this underserved market, has demonstrated experience scaling a microenterprise organization and is comfortable with providing services to a diverse population. 


Responsibilities

  • Manages and grows the Direct Lending Program including staff and consultant supervision, program marketing, new product development, portfolio performance, asset/liability management, financial projections and assumptions, underwriting, loan servicing, collections, community partnerships and program evaluation.
  • Responsible for loan portfolio quality and performance. Ensures compliance with portfolio standards e.g. those PAR 90 days + is less than 12% and annual write-off below 9%. Implements and monitors credit risk program including risk rating as well as identifying, measuring, controlling, monitoring the risks with periodic reporting to senior management and Board.
  • Coordinates and plans the Advisory Council and Loan Committee meetings by setting the agenda, preparing reports and documents, conducting the meetings and recording the minutes.
  • Oversees training and TA services to ensure quality service and compliance with contract goals.
  • Responsible for grant compliance and reports as needed for funders, Advisory Council or Board of Directors.
  • Member of senior management team - develops and implements EOF business plan/marketing plan.
  • Fundraising and capitalization - writes grants and secures funding and assists with implementing WORC's overall fundraising strategy.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications 

A strong background in micro and small business financing is desired. Individual should have existing contacts with local financial and economic development providers. Management experience and 4-year degree is required. Experience with ACCION MMS is a plus.

Women LEAD Nepal is the first and only leadership development organization for young women in Nepal. Since 2011, we have empowered more than 500 female high school students with the skills, support and opportunities needed to become leaders in their schools, communities, and nation. The Development and Evaluation Fellow will work closely with the Executive Director and a cross-cultural team to develop and deliver our fundraising strategy at a critical time of organizational growth and change. In addition, the fellow will work to structure and implement a monitoring and evaluation plan.

The Fellow must be a talented writer adept at explaining and promoting the importance of our work for a variety of audiences. S/he will fulfill an important role as we pursue grants and other funding sources, provide essential research for developing our grant prospecting and application strategy. In addition, the fellow will enhance the Women LEAD culture which emphasizes organizational learning, planning, and monitoring. An eagerness to learn and advance on the job is essential, as is an ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and excel in new challenges. Well-suited candidates should have an interest in the empowerment of girls and women.

Responsibilities  

Include but are not limited to the following (with flexibility to implement other projects of value and interest):

GRANT WRITING AND PROSPECTING (30%)
  • Research and identify potential donors, including corporations, INGOs, foundations and governments; collect information into a regularly updated development calendar.
  • Write and edit grant proposals (LOIs, cover letters, full grant proposals) using and improving upon existing grant templates. Grants will be sent for final review to the Executive Director.
  • Ensure grants budgets align with institutional budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor and coordinate grant administration, interim and end-of-grant reporting, and oversee compliance with approved budgets, contract terms, and legal or regulatory requirements.
FUNDRAISING DEVELOPMENT (15%)
  • Work with the Board and Executive Director to plan and implement a fundraising strategy.
  • Identify and develop successful local funding strategies and actors, including local corporate sponsorship opportunities and individuals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective institutional donors in Nepal.
  • Report on annual fundraising progress, patterns, challenges, etc.
  • Research and report on trends in philanthropy and institutional giving that may impact approaches to fundraising.
  • Work closely with the Communications Officer to run our annual crowd-funding campaign.
DONOR MANAGEMENT & COMMUNICATION (15%)
  • Develop a strong understanding of Women LEAD programs and approach to effectively represent Women LEAD at meetings with donors.
  • Maintain and update donor database and prospect information through database entry and management. Proactively manage all deadlines and ensure key dates and interactions are tracked using Salesforce and iContact.
  • Assist with donor communication and update fundraising/communication materials, including creating or improving materials needed for donor solicitations (e.g., letters, presentations, and informational brochures).
MONITORING & EVALUATION (30%)
  • Strengthen and implement the current monitoring system. This could include increased or improved collection systems for qualitative/quantitative data, establishing indicators, and development of measurement tools
  • Create systems to process data through an evaluation plan to analyze program implementation and impact
  • Communicate and summarize results and suggested improvements in a manner that is meaning for staff and external stakeholders
PUBLIC RELATIONS (10%)
  • Represent Women LEAD at off-site events for networking purposes;
  • Assist with special events planning, outreach and communications;
  • Work closely with the Communications Officer in the planning, implementation and evaluation of an annual integrated marketing and communications plan and calendar, for example, WLEAD's bi-monthly electronic newsletter.

Qualifications

  • A passion for empowering young women to lead change and participate meaningfully in their country and future.
  • At least 1-3 years of progressively successful fundraising experience with proven success in meeting fundraising targets.
  • Experience with monitoring, evaluation, strategic planning, and/or data management preferred
  • Excellent English language skills and a demonstrated ability to write and present effectively. A willingness to take Nepali language courses is preferred.
  • Strong computer literacy and an ability to learn new software programs, ie. Salesforce. Experience with research methods, survey design, and statistical analysis software preferred
  • Proven ability to be flexible, independently manage time, balance and prioritize simultaneous assignments and meet tight deadlines with a minimal amount of supervision.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn in a cross-cultural context, take initiative and possess confidence to ask questions.
  • Experience and comfort in building and maintaining strong relationships with external partners. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders, such as donors and corporations.
  • Experience working internationally is strongly preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree (any subject) is required.

The Victim Center is a grassroots nonprofit agency that provides free-of-charge services to men, women, and children victims of violent or sexual crimes. Services include prevention education, counseling, advocacy, and 24-hour crisis intervention. The agency does not provide shelter. This is a professional leadership position that will report-to and work in conjunction with the Executive Director. This position will be partially responsible for operational functions, fund-raising, grant writing, public speaking, networking, and other duties related to perpetuating the mission of The Victim Center.
DUTIES

Duties will include assisting the Executive Director with operational functions; writing government and private grants; coordinating at least three annual fundraisers in conjunction with committee volunteers; networking and soliciting funds for the organization from individuals, businesses, and foundations; speaking to community groups or other organizations about the agency's mission and work in the community; developing newsletters and other written publications; managing social media; building relationships within the community; and various other tasks related to perpetuating The Victim Center's mission.
QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in a related field is necessary, along with knowledge of the Springfield/southwest Missouri area and an ability to effectively network and fund raise.
