The advocacy team is seeking a professional with a high level knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and rights, particularly in the context of the international policy arena. The principal responsibilities of this position are to coordinate IPPF/WHR's international advocacy work and to contribute with IPPF's overall advocacy efforts as part of the IPPF UN Liaison Office in New York.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinating IPPF efforts to influence UN Member States at the NY Headquarters
  • Establishing and maintaining strategic relationships with UN Permanent Missions staff of key countries
  • Supporting the development of advocacy strategies to maximise IPPF's impact on priority SRHR-related UN processes taking place in New York
  • Monitoring UN processes, UN declarations and resolutions and the work of strategic UN bodies example the UN Commission on Population and Development, the UN Commission on the Status of Women, the General Assembly's Third Committee, the High Level Political Forum, and other bodies that are relevant for to IPPF's advocacy work.
  • Supporting the organization of meetings, conferences and workshops related to IPPF's advocacy work with UN Member States.
  • Establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with relevant CSO groups and coalitions
  • Networking and maintaining strategic communications with relevant stakeholders, including organizations from the sexual and reproductive health and rights, the women's/feminist, the youth and the HIV movements.
  • Reporting and sharing information in a timely and strategic way with IPPF colleagues
  • Identifying advocacy opportunities to advance the SRHR agenda at the UN NY Headquarters
  • Supporting the provision of technical assistance to IPPF Member Associations on UN advocacy work
  • Facilitating the strategic participation of IPPF colleagues at key meetings in New York
  • Managing/overseeing the implementation of IPPF WHR international advocacy projects
  • Compiling/developing international advocacy materials related to IPPF's advocacy priorities.

  • Collaborating closely with IPPF's Advocacy Advisory Group, and key advocacy staff at IPPF CO

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree or equivalent in International Affairs or similar.
  • Seven years or more policy-related experience
  • Substantive knowledge of international Human Rights mechanisms, international conferences, and their implementation.
  • Proven ability in International Advocacy at the United Nations
  • Strong commitment to and knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and rights, women's rights, and gender equality.
  • Experience working in and with non-governmental organizations and as part of coalitions; familiarity with international reproductive rights or women's rights NGOs
  • Excellent analysis, writing and communications skills in English, fluency in Spanish and other UN languages desirable
  • Knowledge of Latin American and the Caribbean political reality on sexual and reproductive health and rights, women's rights, and gender equality.

The Consortium of Abortion Providers (CAPS) is an organization within Planned Parenthood that ensures access to high-quality abortion care. CAPS works closely with the Planned Parenthood affiliates to start or expand the provision of abortion services through training, consultation and assistance in numerous areas of abortion care. Planned Parenthood is looking for a National Director, Consortium of Abortion Providers (CAPS) to lead this effort. This National Director will provide strategic direction to the CAPS organization, managing a team that delivers operational, clinical and legislative programming to affiliates. In addition, the team develops and implements special projects and programs focused on supporting Planned Parenthood affiliates' provision of abortion care, as they relate to the overall Federation strategic plan.

Reporting to the VP of Affiliate Services, the National Director of CAPS provides strategic leadership, oversees program implementation, as well as high-level project management. Additionally, working closely with both the CAPS team and affiliate staff and leadership, the National Director of CAPS will lead multiple initiatives, services and functions. This position manages a team of eight, an annual budget and works extensively with leadership at both the national office and affiliates

NOTE: This position is located in New York City, but qualified candidates living in other US geographies will be considered.

  • 10+ years high-level management experience in a healthcare or related setting – women's reproductive health care or abortion services (or closely related) required.
  • Advanced degree in public health, medicine, law, or comparable required - as CAPS works on issues across a broad spectrum of topics—health operations, policy, and clinical issues.

Planned Parenthood's Research Department is looking for a Research & Data Manager to join its team. Working with a substantial degree of independence, yet under the direction of the National Director of Research and senior research staff, this Research & Data Manager will perform a variety of complex research and analytical tasks including: research design, data management, and analyses; coordinating research projects; compilation of information and writing reports, including publishable products. Additionally, he/she will train and supervise research interns that periodically work within the Research Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implement data analyses using SPSS, Stata or another social science analysis package;
  • Gather and synthesize information, including literature reviews.
  • Assist with IRB-related preparation.
  • Manage analysis of data and the writing up of findings.
  • Design, format, and proofread survey instruments, with direction from senior staff.
  • Supervise all tasks related to maintaining proper documentation of research activities and archiving of project files concerning data collection.
  • Serve as project manager and work closely with project staff to oversee budget and staffing needs, while monitoring project schedules and work plan.
  • Assist in various aspects of proposal development, such as developing analysis plans and budget estimates for research activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in a relevant social science, health, statistics, or demographic field.
  • 5 years of directly related work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in performing complex coding and data analysis procedures using statistical packages such as SPSS, Stata or SAS.
  • Experience analyzing patient visit data and/or large longitudinal datasets.
  • Experience with various quantitative analysis techniques such as survival analysis, propensity score matching, time series, GEE, etc.
  • Ability to liaise with and professionally manage communication with: consultants, collaborators, and/or organizations.

SUMMARY

Uses team approach to assist consumers who are HIV positive or at high risk for HIV infection, to change risk behaviors and reduce the transmission of HIV and AIDS. During both daytime and evening shifts (includes combination of 9am-5pm, 2pm-10pm, 4pm-12pm or 12 midnight -8am), reaches out to target populations including commercial sex workers, intravenous drug users, other substance users, and people with multiple HIV risk factors. Performs outreach activities in communities of color and where consumers congregate including methadone clinics, shooting galleries, strolls, community parks and street corners. Establishes trusting relationships and provides street based services including emergency food, transportation, HIV counseling and rapid testing, Hepatitis C risk assessments and referrals to Project Street Beat mobile medical unit for services.

Enrolls consumers into the program by completing intake forms and documenting progress notes appropriately. Refers appropriate consumers to the case management component of Project Street Beat or other community-based organization for service plan development and intensive services.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requires Associates degree or equivalent appropriate life/professional experience. Must have minimum 2 years of experience working with target populations that have a wide range of social problems, including but not limited to prostitution, involvement with the criminal justice system, intravenous substance use and extended periods of homelessness due to child abuse and neglect and other family-related issues. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required. A valid New York State driver's license devoid of any violations is required. Must have HIV medical overview and HIV pre- and post-test counseling certificates of attendance.

Salary range: 29,000 - 33,000

SUMMARY

Provides basic case management, advocacy and emotional support to adolescents and adults engaging in or at risk of engaging in prostitution, intravenous drug use and other behaviors which put them at risk for HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy. Determines clients eligibility for case management and non case management. Responsible for filling out, discussing and reviewing the initial intake packet with all office and outreach clients. Establishes informal/formal linkages with service providers delivering necessary services to our target population. Provides individual counseling and pre and post HIV test counseling. Arranges for the provision of health and concrete emergency services. Maintains current case files and performs follow-up on all individuals serviced by the Program. Organizes and facilitates weekly case conferences with Outreach Staff and establishes and facilitates client discussion/support groups.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requires BA in Social Work or equivalent. Requires at least 3 years experience in providing case management services to multi-problem youth and disenfranchised population. Must be sensitive to cross cultural differences and issues related to sexual identity. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required.

Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest (PPPSW) provides essential reproductive health care and educational programs to 150,000 women and men annually in Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial Counties. Care is provided regardless of their personal circumstances or ability to pay. It has been building healthy communities since 1963 with the most sophisticated instrument in medicine: accurate information that can help people make the best decisions about their health. Governed by a 28-person Board of Directors, the organization has over 475 employees and an annual operating budget of $60 million. It operates 19 health centers in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial Counties.
Planned Parenthood believes that health care is a basic human right and that prevention is the best medicine, which is why 93% of its services are preventive, including life-saving cancer screenings, well-woman exams, education programs, STD prevention and treatment, family planning, WIC nutritional services, prenatal care, and more.
The majority of Planned Parenthood's funding comes from state and federal grants and fee for service income. The Agency presently raises approximately $4 million annually from private sector grants, major gifts and bequests.
Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest is an affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. An independent 501(C)(3), it is a self-governing, nonprofit organization.
THE POSITION
In partnership with the Senior Staff and Board of Directors, the Director of Development - Riverside County provides strategic planning and direction to all fundraising and development activities for the organization in Riverside County. S/he is responsible for driving and forging new relationships to build Planned Parenthood's visibility, impact and financial resources to meet its current challenging goals and future growth requirements. This includes designing and implementing a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating individual and philanthropic support. The Director of Development – Riverside County will be either located in Riverside or the Coachella Valley and reports to the Vice President of Development in the San Diego headquarters.
Key duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Oversee and build a portfolio of donor prospects for gifts of $1,000 and, especially, $5,000 or more.
  • Responsible for defined metrics and volume of donor interactions and amount raised, showing clear evidence of having obtained more and often, upgraded gifts.
  • Oversee the development of individualized donor relationships, interactions and solicitations. Involve volunteer leadership and program staff as needed to develop relationships and solicit donors.
  • Responsible for the identification and movement of donors higher up the "pipeline", determining when the donors will benefit with interactions from other leaders within PPPSW, including the VP of Development and CEO.
  • Broker relationships between donor prospects and PPPSW professional and volunteer leaders, program staff, and others in the community, providing guidance as to what and how these "partners" can successfully interact with donor prospects.
  • Represent PPPSW at individual or group meetings with donors and volunteer leadership, with sufficient understanding of the organization to represent all aspects of the Agency including programs, finances, and future plans.
  • Develop unique solicitations and presentations for special project proposals as needed through interaction and partnerships with program staff.
  • Explore innovative communication techniques with donor prospects, including usage of new technologies.
  • Utilize the Prospect module on Raiser's Edge to manage donor interaction.
  • Broker partnerships with Planned Parenthood Federation of America's (PPFA) major gifts professional staff, determining if, how, and when joint efforts are productive to PPPSW.
  • Develop clear and timely gifts reports for presentation to the VP of Development, CEO, overall Agency, volunteer leadership, and donors.
  • Represent the Planned Giving Program to Riverside County supporters.
  • Procure planned gifts (remainder gifts and gifts involving financial/estate planning components).
  • Increase the number of people in the Legacy Circle from Riverside County.
  • Provide stewardship and ensure successful relationships with Riverside County members of the Legacy Circle.
  • Track the progress of Riverside County planned gifts transitioning from the donor to PPPSW (ex. notification from any attorney about PPPSW being named in the will of a recently deceased donor).
  • With approval of the VP of Development, create and work with volunteer committees as needed.
  • Work with, and develop, as needed, volunteer committees to spur involvement and outreach of volunteer, community partners.
  • Develop strategies and recommendations for the Riverside County component of an Agency campaign to raise 50th Anniversary funds.
  • Recommend enhancements to the Development Department systems to benefit major gifts acquisition.
  • Plan and help implement donor events and gatherings, as needed.
  • Create and submit annual expense budgets for approval.
  • Attend Agency leadership meetings and participate on committee as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Our client is seeking a candidate with at least seven years of proven experience managing a complex fundraising program in a sophisticated organization with a reputation for quality and excellence, with extensive major gifts expertise. A successful track record of personally identifying, cultivating and soliciting individual donors, and foundations for support; experience with progressive constituencies is desirable. In addition, s/he should have:
  • Proven results in meeting and growing challenging fundraising goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in presenting to and communicating with senior level business and community leaders.
  • Solid understanding of political influences and external pressures that can guide and determine funding outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and quickly gain the respect and support of various constituencies, including board and staff members, donors, foundation and civic leaders; experience recruiting and organizing volunteers.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing and budgets. Bachelor's degree (BS/BA), Master's degree preferred.
  • A valid driver's license, a reliable means of transportation and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of the California Vehicle Code standards of bodily injury and property damage.
  • An in-depth and proven knowledge of community relations/fund raising procedures and donors in the Riverside County/Coachella Valley philanthropic community and beyond is preferred.

The Coordinator provides support to the divisional Vice President and works closely with other division staff to ensure coordination across departments occur. Achieves robust recruitment goals to create and grow an active supporter and volunteer base. Generates new activists and volunteers through organizing, outreach and special event efforts. Trains volunteers and interns on Planned Parenthood policies, priority issues, strategies, tactics, and state specific-specific political processes. Develops, guides, and coordinates grassroots mobilization efforts, including voter education, engagement and mobilization efforts in support of both state and federal legislative issues.

Manages existing activist base by initiating frequent and regular communication with activists via phone, in person and e-organizing efforts. Develops, grows, and maintains existing data lists for purposes of movement building and keeps accurate records. Follows statewide and affiliate policies and procedures with regard to list building and cleanup, voter identification and voter engagement.

Executes tactics and strategies as outlined in the statewide strategic plan and statewide campaign plan. Contributes to the overall effectiveness of the agency by adhering to established agency policies and practices.

The Administrative Manager, Board Affairs & Office of the President will partner with the Director, Office of the President (OOP) and Manager, Board Affairs to oversee the daily prioritization and execution of daily operations of the OOP and Board Affairs, and will provide administrative support to the President.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Administrative Manager will be responsible for providing administrative, staffing and logistical support for all OOP office operations and PPFA/PPAF Board of Directors meetings and affairs throughout the year. The Administrative Manager will also assist as needed for larger scale meetings, special events and conferences.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Manages all correspondence for the President.  Develops and maintains work flow processes to ensure that correspondence is composed, edited and proofread for signing by the President or other surrogates. Correspondence may include memos, proactive letters of congratulations or thanks, and emails. Coordinates with other departments such as Development, Government Relations, Communications and others as needed.

This includes handling travel arrangements for board members, contract, organizing materials and mailings, coordinating with IT and vendors, and completing related TERs and other administrative paperwork.
  5. Serves as point-person for daily IT needs for the OOP, Physical Plant & Infrastructure issues/work.  Serves as liaison with department heads from Facilities and IT.
  6. Supports the Director, OOP and team in providing logistical support for all-staff meetings, other special large scale meetings, conferences and awards.
  7. Maintains up to date and accurate contact lists for both the OOP and Board Affairs, generates reports as needed; responsible for maintaining the general OOP as well as Board Affairs email inbox and calendar
  8. Receives and screens phone calls and assist with issues in their primary stages whenever possible. Works with OOP team to make sure all callers receive initial responses within 2 hours and for more complex calls, appropriate responses within reasonable time frames.
  9. Provides other administrative duties that include but are not limited to mailings, copying, collating, and organizing reports and other materials.
  10. Provides additional administrative support to the Director, OOP and the Manager, Board Affairs as needed.
  11. Completes special projects as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree.  Additional professional training is preferred.
Experience:  Three to four years of related, progressively responsible work experience, including special/executive assistant, advance and/or administrative experience.
