Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest (PPPSW) provides essential reproductive health care and educational programs to 150,000 women and men annually in Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial Counties. Care is provided regardless of their personal circumstances or ability to pay. It has been building healthy communities since 1963 with the most sophisticated instrument in medicine: accurate information that can help people make the best decisions about their health. Governed by a 28-person Board of Directors, the organization has over 475 employees and an annual operating budget of $60 million. It operates 19 health centers in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial Counties.
Planned Parenthood believes that health care is a basic human right and that prevention is the best medicine, which is why 93% of its services are preventive, including life-saving cancer screenings, well-woman exams, education programs, STD prevention and treatment, family planning, WIC nutritional services, prenatal care, and more.
The majority of Planned Parenthood's funding comes from state and federal grants and fee for service income. The Agency presently raises approximately $4 million annually from private sector grants, major gifts and bequests.
Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest is an affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. An independent 501(C)(3), it is a self-governing, nonprofit organization.
THE POSITION
In partnership with the Senior Staff and Board of Directors, the Director of Development - Riverside County provides strategic planning and direction to all fundraising and development activities for the organization in Riverside County. S/he is responsible for driving and forging new relationships to build Planned Parenthood's visibility, impact and financial resources to meet its current challenging goals and future growth requirements. This includes designing and implementing a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating individual and philanthropic support. The Director of Development – Riverside County will be either located in Riverside or the Coachella Valley and reports to the Vice President of Development in the San Diego headquarters.
Key duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Oversee and build a portfolio of donor prospects for gifts of $1,000 and, especially, $5,000 or more.
  • Responsible for defined metrics and volume of donor interactions and amount raised, showing clear evidence of having obtained more and often, upgraded gifts.
  • Oversee the development of individualized donor relationships, interactions and solicitations. Involve volunteer leadership and program staff as needed to develop relationships and solicit donors.
  • Responsible for the identification and movement of donors higher up the "pipeline", determining when the donors will benefit with interactions from other leaders within PPPSW, including the VP of Development and CEO.
  • Broker relationships between donor prospects and PPPSW professional and volunteer leaders, program staff, and others in the community, providing guidance as to what and how these "partners" can successfully interact with donor prospects.
  • Represent PPPSW at individual or group meetings with donors and volunteer leadership, with sufficient understanding of the organization to represent all aspects of the Agency including programs, finances, and future plans.
  • Develop unique solicitations and presentations for special project proposals as needed through interaction and partnerships with program staff.
  • Explore innovative communication techniques with donor prospects, including usage of new technologies.
  • Utilize the Prospect module on Raiser's Edge to manage donor interaction.
  • Broker partnerships with Planned Parenthood Federation of America's (PPFA) major gifts professional staff, determining if, how, and when joint efforts are productive to PPPSW.
  • Develop clear and timely gifts reports for presentation to the VP of Development, CEO, overall Agency, volunteer leadership, and donors.
  • Represent the Planned Giving Program to Riverside County supporters.
  • Procure planned gifts (remainder gifts and gifts involving financial/estate planning components).
  • Increase the number of people in the Legacy Circle from Riverside County.
  • Provide stewardship and ensure successful relationships with Riverside County members of the Legacy Circle.
  • Track the progress of Riverside County planned gifts transitioning from the donor to PPPSW (ex. notification from any attorney about PPPSW being named in the will of a recently deceased donor).
  • With approval of the VP of Development, create and work with volunteer committees as needed.
  • Work with, and develop, as needed, volunteer committees to spur involvement and outreach of volunteer, community partners.
  • Develop strategies and recommendations for the Riverside County component of an Agency campaign to raise 50th Anniversary funds.
  • Recommend enhancements to the Development Department systems to benefit major gifts acquisition.
  • Plan and help implement donor events and gatherings, as needed.
  • Create and submit annual expense budgets for approval.
  • Attend Agency leadership meetings and participate on committee as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Our client is seeking a candidate with at least seven years of proven experience managing a complex fundraising program in a sophisticated organization with a reputation for quality and excellence, with extensive major gifts expertise. A successful track record of personally identifying, cultivating and soliciting individual donors, and foundations for support; experience with progressive constituencies is desirable. In addition, s/he should have:
  • Proven results in meeting and growing challenging fundraising goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in presenting to and communicating with senior level business and community leaders.
  • Solid understanding of political influences and external pressures that can guide and determine funding outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and quickly gain the respect and support of various constituencies, including board and staff members, donors, foundation and civic leaders; experience recruiting and organizing volunteers.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing and budgets. Bachelor's degree (BS/BA), Master's degree preferred.
  • A valid driver's license, a reliable means of transportation and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of the California Vehicle Code standards of bodily injury and property damage.
  • An in-depth and proven knowledge of community relations/fund raising procedures and donors in the Riverside County/Coachella Valley philanthropic community and beyond is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Riverside County as needed.
  • Willingness to travel to San Diego for monthly staff meetings or as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

THE POSITION
The National Women's Law Center seeks an Outreach Associate, Health and Reproductive Rights to help engage advocates at the national and state levels to improve policies that affect the lives of women and their families.
DUTIES
The Outreach Associate will work across several program areas to implement outreach strategies that support NWLC's work on health and reproductive rights. S/he will support federal and state advocacy work to implement the health care law, protect access to family planning and abortion, and work on many other issues to improve the lives of women and their families. In addition, the Associate will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience helping execute cutting-edge and exciting campaigns (past campaigns have included Being A Woman Is Not A Pre-existing Conditionand I Will Not Be Denied).
The Outreach Associate will be part of the Outreach Team in NWLC's Communications Department and will report to the Director of Outreach for Health and Reproductive Rights.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assisting in the implementation of effective, creative, and dynamic campaign strategies, messaging, and production of related engagement activities and materials, both through online strategies and traditional offline field organizing.
  • Supporting state and federal advocacy by coordinating regular communications with advocates and coalition members and developing opportunities for recruiting new advocates.

POSITION SUMMARY

RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Provides hotline callers with crisis and supportive counseling, information and referrals, and assistance with safety planning

The Community Advocacy Program Coordinator provides administrative support to the Assistant Dean for Community Advocacy and the Community Advocacy department, including preparation for and management of the Assistant Dean's calendar, budget, correspondence, and meetings. This position supports the Assistant Dean with initiatives and programming to achieve long-term goals and vision for the department. The program coordinator represents the department in various capacities as needed, as well as oversees the Community Advocacy Union student group in advising and providing administrative support. Additional duties include providing coordination and administrative support in the planning of events organized by the centers' directors and their offices by independently leading, or appropriately delegating, certain projects relating to these events. Responsibilities involve arranging for food, reserving spaces, arranging set-up and media needs, updating online information, online office calendars, coordinating mailings, budget management, advertising, and making related logistical arrangements. The program coordinator oversees the Cultural Center's day to day maintenance, and develops and maintains the Community Advocacy department's and individual office's websites and applicable communication tools e.g., Hampshire listservs, Facebook group/event pages, etc. This position oversees work-study schedules, and provides daily mentoring and task advising of Community Advocacy and Cultural Center student staff and volunteers.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. A minimum of one year administrative office experience is also required; previous experience working in a college/university setting a plus. Candidate should have project management and event planning skills as well as previous experience with budget management. The ideal candidate should possess strong student service orientation, an ability to respond well to crisis situations, and must be able to act and determine direction in ambiguous situations. A demonstrated ability to discern situations that necessitate confidentiality is a must. Qualified candidates must be computer proficient, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Experience working with diverse populations and with issues related to under-represented populations preferred. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

Sadie Nash Leadership Project (SNLP) is a unique educational and leadership program for young women aged 14-22. At SNLP, we believe that every young woman is a leader, and we offer programs and classes to further develop that leadership.
We are currently seeking experienced and creative educators to facilitate leadership classes in SNLP's Partnership Program in New York City. Through the Partnership Program, SNLP partners with schools and community-based organizations in the New York area to offer courses in leadership, social justice, youth activism and self-empowerment. SNLP's Partnership Program is especially committed to supporting harder-to-reach youth throughout New York City.
Major responsibilities of Partnership Faculty include:
  • Facilitating a social justice oriented curriculum focusing on leadership, identity, feminism, and issues facing young women
  • Facilitating a class that meets regularly, once or twice a week at a school or community based organization. Classes are typically held during the school day or after school hours
  • Attending ALL staff development meetings and individualized program support meetings, regularly held on Friday mornings every 2-3 weeks

  • Serving as a liaison between SNLP and the partnership site

The French Women's Rights Information (WRI) Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for:

Experience:
At least 4-6 years experience:
- In a non-profit development and/or human rights and/or women's rights organization in a related role in the Global South and/or CEE/CIS and MENA
- Producing information, including research and writing, for diverse audiences
- Working in an international organization as part of a multicultural team
Other Requirements:
- Familiarity with elements of feminist theory and women's rights frameworks
- Able to travel internationally (1-2 times a year)
- Committed to the principles and values of feminism, anti-discrimination and anti-racism
- Experience working in a virtual, multi-location team
Assets:
- Knowledge of and contacts in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region
- Courses or certificates in communication and/or new media
Content Design
- Works with the WRI Manager and team to identify information themes and priorities
- Develops an information strategy and related work plan for each priority theme, including but not limited to:
a) Defining target audiences and information outcomes, conducting background research, identifying and analyzing key documents;
b) Identifying the most strategic formats and dissemination channels;
c) Identifying relevant stakeholders for content contributions and partnerships;
d) Developing an operational work plan that documents timelines and outputs and division of labour with relevant team members
Content Production, Compilation and Dissemination
- Researches, produces, edits and disseminates diverse content on priority issues including at least two Dossier du Vendredi articles or interviews a month
- Liaises with contractors and external contributors to coordinate timely submission of commissioned content
- Regular sourcing of online content in French relevant to agreed priority issues
- Regularly monitors the use of WRI information and ensures adjustment of dissemination plan to respond to lessons learned
Constituency Building and Engagement and Content Partnerships
- Ensures access to timely news and information related to priority themes by maintaining relationships with strategic external stakeholders, in coordination with the WRI Manager
- Provides opportunities for AWID member and constituency engagement with content in line with AWID's social media and constituency engagement strategy
- Supports the development of AWID's online community in French, through direct outreach and engagement to promote discussion and debate on priority themes
- Develops content partnerships to reach diverse Francophone constituencies
We are looking for a bilingual (French/English) individual who is committed to the principles and values of feminism, anti-discrimination, and anti-racism. The ideal candidate will have an-depth knowledge of knowledge of women's rights and gender and development issues, and excellent written and verbal communication skills, and knowledge of the latest online and social media technologies.
