DESCRIPTION


Safe Alliance (formerly United Family Services) is a non-profit agency based in Charlotte, North Carolina with additional facilities in the Charlotte and the surrounding area, including Union and Cabarrus Counties. We are dedicated to providing hope and healing to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, child abuse and helping adults and children build safe, healthy relationships.
This full-time (37.5 hours/week) position reports to the Shelter Operations Manager at Safe Alliance. He/she promotes the well-being and development of women and their children who are in danger of violence from the woman's intimate partner by managing the night time operation of the Shelter and coordinating evening volunteers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Delivers client services by providing intake and crisis intervention and case management, screening and admitting clients and by referring ineligible clients to appropriate resources. Answer crisis line and provide crisis intervention, intake and/or referral as needed.
  • Maintains a safe and stable night time environment for clients by supervising all housekeeping functions, by enforcing Shelter policies, and by handling emergency situations effectively. Also, assists with donations by sorting, organizing or disseminating donations to clients as needed.
  • Promotes and maintains professional working relationships with agency staff and community agencies by participating in activities that promote the agency and by keeping daytime staff well informed about evening activities.
  • Assists with Shelter functioning by participating in training of relief staff and volunteers.
  • Ensures the availability of quality division services by supervising volunteer events in the evening. Greet volunteers scheduled for evening projects and provide volunteers with any needed supplies/materials.
  • Contributes to quality services by staying informed of developments and trends in the areas of domestic violence, residential services and volunteer management.
  • Contributes to the accuracy of direct service information by maintaining accurate, up-to-date client, volunteer, division and agency records.
  • Contributes to agency effectiveness by performing other agency duties as required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • B.S. in human services, counseling, education, BSW or Criminal Justice or equivalent degree from an accredited university or college and 4 years related experience.
  • MSW or MA in counseling, psychology, social work or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Able to work overnight week and weekend shifts, as applicable.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance required.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Pre-employment background check required.
