Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest (PPGNW) is seeking an exceptional Director of Development.
PPGNW is a family planning agency that provides high quality, affordable reproductive health services for women, men and teens, as well as award winning education programs and advocacy work. With 29 health centers in Alaska, Idaho and western Washington, PPGNW is the second largest affiliate of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, (PPFA). PPGNW is also a leader in the Federation, piloting projects such as Planned Parenthood Cares, an on-line, virtual service for birth control pills and sexually transmitted infection testing.
PPGNW has an annual budget of $48M, and a staff of 400 employees and 500 volunteers. The development team currently raises over $6 million per year, contributing 14% of agency revenue in 2013. To learn more about our operations and the vital work we do in the community, please view our annual report at www.ppgnwannualreport.com.
The Director of Development will join PPGNW at a pivotal point as the agency is planning to launch an ambitious multi-year comprehensive campaign that will put forward a bold vision for the future while recognizing our historical achievements during the celebration of our national 100-year anniversary in 2016.
After extensive research and planning that engaged senior staff and the board, PPGNW realizes now is the time to further invest in an already successful, experienced, and innovative Development team so that the organization can achieve big dreams for our community. The new Director will have the opportunity to shape new positions and to recruit additional staff to join our talented team, in particular to increase our capacity to develop and strengthen relationships with major donors. This is a rare opportunity to lead a growing department through a visionary campaign and ultimately create a "new normal" for annual fundraising returns to fuel our continued success, innovation, and leadership within a critical movement.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Commitment to the mission of Planned Parenthood and the Donor Bill of Rights
  • Minimum of seven years successful fundraising experience with increasing responsibilities and familiarity will all aspects of fundraising. (Campaign and major gifts, annual giving, events management, online giving, planned giving and institutional giving).
  • Proven ability to cultivate, solicit and close five- and six- figure gifts.
  • Capital campaign experience strongly preferred.
  • Political fundraising experience preferred.
  • Minimum of three years management experience. Strong leadership skills with the ability to hire, coach and mentor staff.
  • Sophisticated communicator (written and verbal), excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. Ability to successfully partner with a variety of groups including board members, staff of all levels, donors, community-based advocates and volunteers.
  • A strong personal code of ethics, including integrity, honesty, accountability, ambition, respect, and commitment to brave conversations—all of which are essential to developing trusting internal and external relationships
  • Bachelor degree required. CFRE or ACFRE certification preferred.

PPGNW is an equal-opportunity employer and seeks to recruit persons of diverse backgrounds and to support their retention and advancement within the organization. Justice is one of our core values and we are committed to fostering a workplace culture inclusive of people with respect to their race, ethnicity, national origin, gender/gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, marital status, age, disabilities, political affiliation, religious beliefs or any other characteristic.
