PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Youth Advocate Position will work in the schools to coordinate and implement anti-violence programming.
DUTIES
- Administers program, both directly and through staff and program volunteers
- Acts as the liaison between JGCC, local schools and other partners Maintains a presence at schools
- Facilitates and assists with classroom facilitation of anti-violence youth programming
- Attends community meetings as directed by supervisor
- Participates in staff meetings and conferences to share ideas and concerns, and works collaboratively with other staff to meet agency goals and achieve staff objectives.
- Attends and participates in outside trainings or functions
- Become an active member of Jane Doe, Inc. men's group and initiative.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Skill in working with diversity of people; ability to facilitate cooperative work.
- Ability to coordinate a multi-faceted program.
- Ability to inspire, stimulate, encourage creativity and innovation.
- Ability to develop and implement programs which are responsive to the needs and middle and high school age students.
- Strong time management skills
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree with background in gender studies, education, psychology, sociology preferred.
Work experience in youth work or related field which includes some experience in curriculum and community relations.
