Established in 1972 to address the under representation and misrepresentation of women in the media industry, Women Make Movies is a multicultural, multiracial, non-profit media arts organization which facilitates the production, promotion, distribution and exhibition of independent films and videotapes by and about women. The organization provides services to both users and makers of film and video programs, with a special emphasis on supporting work by women of color. Women Make Movies facilitates the development of feminist media through an internationally recognized Distribution Service and a Production Assistance Program.
Internships are available for Spring 2015 term in:
• Marketing/Publicity
• Production Assistance/Fiscal Sponsorship
• Distribution
• Administration
BENEFITS & COMPENSATION
All WMM internship positions are unpaid. However, interns qualify for and have access to a number of services and benefits:
• Local travel reimbursement
• Free workshop attendance
• Free access to screen titles from the Women Make Movies collection
• College or University course credit
The ideal candidate will be studying film production or cinema studies and have an interest in human rights/social justice. We are looking for interns to start in early February and continue through May.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills; strong organizational skills; the ability to multi-task, work independently and work well under pressure; and will take initiative. Familiarity with Internet research, Windows XP and the Microsoft Office Suite necessary. Knowledge of and interest in feminist media a plus.
