DESCRIPTION

BAGLY's Health Programs Coordinator is a full-time position that reports directly to the Health Programs Manager. The Health Programs Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of BAGLY's Boston based health related work with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ) youth. Salary starts at $30,000 with benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Health Programs Manager, the Health Programs Coordinator works with the Program Management Team, which includes; other program staff, youth leaders, adult volunteers, community consultants and interns to:
  • Organize logistics for BAGLY's Boston-based health promotion activities, including; quarterly large scale health resource events, Health Promotion Social Marketing materials development and community/internet outreach
  • Manage all aspects of BAGLY's Health Education and Risk Reduction Team (HEARRT) program including, recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of peer leaders, weekly/monthly youth led group education and quarterly Learning Community meetings
  • Provide specialized assistance to persons with multiple and complex HIV/STI risk-reduction needs through BAGLY's Comprehensive Risk Counseling Service (CRCS) including; facilitation of client recruitment and enrollment in CRCS, individualized, multiple session risk reduction and behavior change counseling, facilitation of appropriate individualized medical and psychosocial referrals
  • Maintain confidential client and referral tracking systems and strict adherence to Centers for Disease Control standards for implementation of CRCS
  • Maintain health program resources including condoms and social marketing materials
  • Represent BAGLY at community events as appropriate
  • Maintain established relationships with local and national collaborators, funders and communities and sustain excellent internal and external communication and correspondence
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong understanding of, and commitment to, BAGLY's mission, LGBTQ youth, youth leadership and development, health promotion and social justice.
  • Undergraduate degree and/or 4 years of full-time professional community-based program implementation or related experience
  • Strong understanding of HIV/AIDS and other STI education, violence and harm reduction, program development and implementation
  • Familiarity with evidence based interventions; the youth development approach; and experience working with youth leadership models
  • Experience working with communities of color, LGBTQ communities, and youth and young adults.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization, planning, facilitation and time management skills
  • Experience with community building and event planning
  • Flexible schedule and availability evenings and some weekends
