Director of AGENDA: the alliance for women and girls
Putting women and girls at the heart of service design
A unique opportunity to lead and develop this new cross- sector alliance that has come  together to reform policy making and services affecting woman and girls.
We are looking for a highly skilled individual, who is:
  • committed to and able to work in partnership to achieve our vision
  • a good communicator
  • able to think and work strategically and creatively,
  • an effective networker and relationship builder and comfortable operating at the highest policy level as well as at the grassroots
  • able to bring a diverse range of partners on board and create a powerful platform for women and girls to reframe debate
  • able to manage people and resources effectively and generate additional funds.
The idea for the new alliance started within the Corston Independent Funders Coalition. From its earlier work on women and girls at risk of entering courts and prisons, the group recognised that combinations of problems and disadvantages are often experienced in particular ways by women and girls, which can make them more vulnerable to risky situations and negative outcomes.
The alliance will work to provide the evidence base and working models that inspire a fundamental shift in services placing women at the heart of their design and tackling problems sooner and more effectively so that women can be in a stronger position to deal with life events and resilient to damaging or risky situations.
The alliance has developed to involve a wide range of agencies and individuals including women’s centres across the UK, national mental health and substance misuse bodies and other alliances as well as organisations working in the criminal justice system. It has backing from a group of funders and funds committed from them for an initial period of three years.
This is a very special role which will develop and change as the director, chair and steering group start to work together to bring about change. You will need to have the agility and resilience to develop the alliance to achieve this. If you have the commitment and experience to make our vision a reality we would love to hear from you.
