Organization Description
Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW) is a nonprofit community-based organization that trains economically disadvantaged women for nontraditional careers that provide a good living wage and benefits. NEW is the longest-running program of its kind in the nation, and has helped thousands of New York City women secure skilled, unionized jobs in the construction, transportation, and utilities industries. NEW is experiencing a period of unprecedented growth and expects to expand its programs significantly over the next few years. NEW is currently recruiting staff to support this growth.
Position Overview
Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW) is seeking a Contracts & Grants Coordinator. The position will report to the Director of Research & Evaluation.
Responsibilities include:
  • Conducts research on potential funding sources; collects and disseminates information relative to available grants, including eligibility requirements, restrictions, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Prepares documents necessary for the process of a grant application. This includes the actual application forms and other requirements needed for the approval of the grant.
  • Assists in the implementation of the grants, ensures compliance requirements are met, and establishes outcome reporting measures and documentation.
  • Assists with preparing reports to funders and other donors on contract/grant outputs and outcomes, including narrative reports, logic models, etc.
  • Collaborates with departments (e.g., Social Services, Placement Services, Enrollment & Training Services, etc.) to address compliance barriers and solutions for existing funders and contracts.
  • Remain up to date with modifications and deadlines for all contracts/grants. Additionally, respond to, and document, all contractual correspondence related to contracts/grants.
  • Keep projects on track and complete key program tasks in a timely manner; coordinates collection, entry, and analysis of data with the Director of Research & Evaluation.
  • Participates in determining the needs involved to justify contract/grant approval, including assisting with clarifying eligibility, training and deliverable requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, innovative thinker. S/he has excellent interpersonal skills, and enjoys working with a variety of people. S/he also possesses the ability to take initiative, work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
NEW seeks candidates with the following qualifications and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree necessary
  • Knowledge of contracts/grants development, proposals, applications, and administration
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and attend to details
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to interface with a variety of individuals
  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously, and successfully prioritizing tasks
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
