The Director of the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy will provide leadership on all major areas affecting women in politics and public policy and in strategic planning and program development. The Director works collaboratively with others to develop, coordinate, implement and assess the Center's teaching, research and service activities and will work to ensure that these activities have local, national, and global foci. The Director will supervise and direct the work of permanent and other staff within the Center; manage the Center's budget and endowment accounts; provide leadership on issues of concern to women at the McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies, the University of Massachusetts Boston, and beyond; and serve as the Graduate Program Director of two programs. The Director will also: establish and enhance collaborative relationships with policymakers, legislators, government officials, leaders of for- and not-for-profit organizations and other individuals and entities relevant to the center's mission; focus the center's research agenda in light of the center's mission, with emphasis on the center's commitment to the inter-sectionality of gender, race/ethnicity and politics; work closely with the center's external advisory board in shaping partnerships; coordinate and engage in fundraising and grant-seeking activities; oversee proposal development for and implementation of a new master's degree program; organize and hold public and educational events; provide media commentary, particular as related to gender, race/ethnicity and politics; provide written annual reports; and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
JD or PhD in Social Policy, Public Policy, Sociology, Economics, Political Science, Psychology or a closely related field and a minimum of five years of professional and/or managerial experience in public policy, politics and/or academia is required. A record of innovative and successful leadership and experience in academic and participatory research is required. Demonstrated teaching experience is required. Successful candidates must have published scholarship and demonstrated success in securing grant funding.
