Position: Development Officer for Major Gifts, East Coast

Summary:
The Development Officer for Major Gifts is a part of the Development team and supports the activities of the Major Giving Program on the East Coast. S/he is responsible for a portfolio of major donors and contributes to the Development team's goal of securing $4-5 million from major individual and institutional donors primarily based in the NY Metropolitan Area, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC, with primary focus on the cultivation and solicitation of donors giving between $10,000 and $100,000 annually.
The Development Officer for Major Gifts, East Coast reports to the Director of Major Gifts, Eastern Region and will have close working relationships with Development Officers, Philanthropic Partnerships and Donor Relations teams. S/he will have regular contact with all Development team members and with the Communications, Programs, and Finance & Administration teams.

Major Gifts Program, East Coast
- With the Director of Major Gifts, Eastern Region, develop strategies for engaging major donors based on the East Coast
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of 80-150 major donors and major donor prospects, primarily in the eastern US, with the capacity to make $10,000- $100,000 gifts. Through cultivation and solicitation of these donors contribute substantially to raising revenue of $4+ million annually from major individual donors
- Support the production of and attend several special events for annual and major donors
- Serve as a spokesperson for the Global Fund for Women at events targeted at major
donor prospects - Develop and implement special efforts to re-engage lapsed major donors on the East Coast
- Build relationships with Board members, members of the Philanthropy Committee, and the Corporate Leadership Council to leverage their networks and to involve them with cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual major donors
- Support the development of regional strategies targeted in Chicago, Washington, DC, and Atlanta in partnership with colleagues from Communications and Development
- Work with the Philanthropic Partnerships team to ensure stewardship of East Coast– based institutional donors, and to assist as needed with reporting or proposals to those donors
- Work with the Grant Writer on the production of written reports and proposals to East Coast–based supporters as needed
- Work with the Communications Team to ensure that Annual Reports, newsletters, e- bulletins, and other communications pieces speak to our donor audiences and serve a fundraising purpose in addition to donor education
- Ensure donor and prospective data is properly recorded in the database and that all donor information is maintained with respect to confidentiality
- Maintain the integrity of donor relationships and the Global Fund for Women's fundraising philosophy
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated successful experience and effectiveness in relationship building and solicitation of individual donors at the $10,000 level
- Must have a commitment to international women's rights and experience in fundraising, philanthropy, and donor education
- Strong project management skills and experience
- Strict attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with people from a wide diversity of backgrounds and cultures
- Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, problem solve, and have excellent follow through
- Ability to make independent decisions
- Familiarity with Apple computers, Microsoft Office applications, and donor database software, preferably Salesforce, Raiser's Edge or highly-customized versions of FileMaker Pro
- Willingness and ability to travel to meet with major donors within the US (with a focus on the New York Metropolitan Area, Boston, Atlanta, Chicago and Washington, DC)
- Willingness and ability to attend occasional evening or weekend events
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of three years professional experience in development with an emphasis on individual giving; successful experience with major donor solicitation and cultivation is preferred
- International experience preferred
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
