DESCRIPTION
Since 1978, RAVEN has worked to end violence against women and children in the St. Louis area. In our work with both adults and youth, RAVEN seeks to foster peaceful relationships, families, and communities, by increasing self-awareness, challenging abuse and control, teaching alternative behaviors and promoting personal responsibility. This year marks RAVEN's 35th year of providing non-violence education. RAVEN is the third oldest program of its kind in the United States.
RAVEN's committed staff and volunteers work with groups of men and young people to assist them in making non-violent decisions in their lives. We do this through the following pro-feminist based programming:
- Adult Non-Violence Education (Batterer Intervention)
- Youth Violence Prevention and Intervention
- Community Outreach and Education
REQUIREMENTS
A Masters degree with a minimum of five to seven years of full-time work experience in domestic or sexual violence prevention/intervention, social services, criminal justice, social justice or closely-related areas. Experience will include a progression in responsibilities, with at least one year in a management or leadership position supervising staff and volunteers. Competency will have been demonstrated in the following areas: budgeting and financial management; information technology (Microsoft Office, Internet, and social media); writing skills; and a strong understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence. The Executive Director will be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
SUMMARY
Responsible for the management and operations of the agency including program planning, program development, fundraising and management of a small staff, interns and volunteers. The Executive Director also oversees the day-to-day operation of the agency including finance, accounting, and safety. The individual in this role will communicate and collaborate effectively with the local community regarding the issues related to RAVEN's mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising
- Responsible for securing financial resources to ensure stability of the organization
- Grant writing and private donor development
- Allocate and manage staff, facilitators and volunteers to achieve program objectives.
- Supervise, directly or indirectly, all RAVEN staff, encouraging education and development at all levels.
- Maintain policies and manuals for RAVEN and the Board of Directors.
- Develop annual budget and assure sound fiscal management practices.
- Oversee the development and operation of a management information system that supports financial management and tracks client progress, informs program operations and serves as a basis for program and financial reports to stakeholders.
- Represent RAVEN and establish collaborative relationships within the violence prevention network in St. Louis and Missouri, with funders, and with community stakeholders
- Develop, monitor, and ensure compliance with program policies and professional and ethical standards to maintain high levels of quality services throughout the organization.
- Establish and maintain a welcoming environment for program participants and volunteers.
Program Development
- Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing programs and practices.
- Maintain strong relationships and provide timely reporting with existing funders and investors.
- Seek out new partners to improve program effectiveness and leverage resources.
- Identify new ways to increase program income.
- Develop new programs and services that build the capacity and competency of sector stakeholders to prevent and end violence.
- Continuously seek out new operational and program support from individuals, corporations, foundations and local, state and national funding sources.
- Prepare monthly report to Board of Directors on financial and program status of RAVEN.
- Provide strong leadership and vision/motivation to staff and volunteers.
- Attend Board of Directors meetings, collaborating with the President to provide leadership at the meetings.
- Work with existing board members to create meaningful roles for them to participate and contribute to RAVEN as an organization and/or as a program.
- Work with the Board to identify new board members that reflect the program and its customers/clients.
- Seek out opportunities to speak at community and professional forums to raise the visibility of RAVEN in the community; act as spokesperson representing RAVEN to the public, media and other outside organizations.
