SUMMARY
NARAL Pro-Choice Washington seeks a Development Director to manage and develop an annual fundraising plan, including cultivating and developing major and mid-level donor relationships, organizing events, managing a fundraising calendar, and overseeing a database. This position is based in Seattle and reports directly to the Executive Director. The right candidate will have a solid background in fundraising, including event management, proposal writing and financial reporting, donor cultivation and use of technology to enhance fundraising.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, organize and implement the major donor plan. This person will staff the executive director in major donor efforts and makemajor donor calls and visits when necessary and appropriate.
- Establish innovative strategies to promote giving to NARAL Pro-Choice Washington, focusing on attracting and increasing major and mid-level donors.
- Manage and ensure the accurate maintenance of records and donor information in the donor database.
- Organize and serve as the main point person for major organizational fundraising events
- Oversee weekly upkeep and population of fundraising database and records, proposal and report files, and gift processing
- Develop strategy for new online and social media fundraising initiatives
- Help shape organizational strategy and play a leadership role in implementing the organization's strategic plan
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- A strong and demonstratedcommitment to the fundamental right for a woman to choose a safe and legal abortion as a part of a full range of reproductive choices.
- Three years of professional fundraising experience in a non-profit or political organization.
- Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate and manage individual donations.
- Proven management and leadership capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Track record of identifying needs and opportunities, instinct to take initiative and be a self-starter
- Must gain job satisfaction from designing and executing aggressive and creative donor and member programs in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once
- Successful experience with and knowledge of social justice and women's donor communities (foundation and individual)
- Strategic thinker with ability to manage short term and long term plans and goals, with a record of achieving results.
