POSITION OVERVIEW
Sadie Nash Leadership Project (SNLP) is seeking an experienced, dynamic and compassionate MSW/LSW on a part-time basis to provide emotional and counseling support to young women (ages 14-21) during our 6 week Summer Institute program in Newark, NJ. This unique opportunity will allow the social worker to work closely with young women in a safe, supportive, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment that promotes healthy communication and healthy relationships. SNLP believes that young women are experts in their own lives and we use a strengths-based approach to help our youth problem-solve and resolve conflict while actualizing their leadership and potential.
The social worker will be responsible for conducting one-on-one sessions, group sessions and/or larger workshops on emotional wellness or other relevant topics according to the needs of the program constituents.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide case management, counseling, advocacy, and other services as needed;
- Maintain written and computerized records, compile reports and complete other program documentation (i.e. progress notes, incident reports, etc.);
- Coordinate and monitor referrals to community services and advocate youth participation;
- Develop creative ways for youth to practice and strengthen problem solving, communication, and coping skills;
- Lead groups and workshops on topics relevant to community;
- Work effectively and constructively as part of a team;
- Perform related work as assigned;
- A Master's Degree in Social Work
- At least 2 years experience working with youth
- Familiarity with mandated reporting policies in NJ and knowledge base of community resources
- Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Program dates: July 8th - August 16th, 2013
- Training: June 28th, 10 am – 5 pm
- Hours: 4-6 hours a week, Monday and Thursday afternoons, flexible schedule preferred
- Compensation: $50/hr
