DESCRIPTION

The New York Asian Women's Center is the largest Asian American focused domestic violence agency in the country; a premier human trafficking victim serving organization; and, a national demonstration project that will develop and provide model services to sexually abused survivors. With a $3.5 million annual budget, NYAWC offers a 24/7 hotline; counseling and case management services for survivors and their children; emergency shelter and transitional housing; and, immigration legal services.

Annually, NYAWC raises over $750,000 from foundations, corporations and individuals. With encouragement and through fundraising by our board of directors our goal is to increase private funding, especially by expanding individual donations. As such, we are creating this director of development position. This position reports directly to the executive director, is an executive staff member and supports the board of directors' fundraising activities.

Currently, the NYAWC development department is comprised of a manager and an associate whose position is split between development and communications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

¨ Prospecting, cultivating and nurturing relationships with individuals, corporations and large foundations.
¨ Directing and supervising the development department
¨ Developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and public relations strategy.
¨ Create a fund development plan and a major gift and planned giving program to increase revenues, supporting the strategic direction of the organization.
¨ Overseeing special events and campaigns.

QUALIFICATIONS

¨ Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred.
¨ 4-5 years nonprofit fundraising experience.
¨ Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate and manage individual donations.
¨ Proven management and leadership capabilities.
¨ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
¨ Understanding of issues of violence against women and/or Asian communities.
